I am sure we will witness athletics performance of the highest quality and our efforts go towards making the Plovdiv regat- ta venue a worthy arena for a fair competition between the best athletes in the World. For years ago we have received the right to carrying out of this Championship. During this time the rowing and canoeing channel in Plovdiv has complete- ly changed: The big reconstruction of the sport complex has been made. No access is possible to the course without an accreditation card. Participating teams will arrive at the Accreditation Centre on the Venue (see regatta venue map, position 5). You will not be accredited unless you have paid all your dues. Afterwards the team leaders may collect the necessary documents and body numbers. Each team will receive one parking pass for a van or mini bus. Before leaving the accreditation centre team leaders will be asked to leave their and their team’s head coach’s cell phone number so they can be reached anytime during the competition and will also be asked to check and sign the departure info. Acceptable methods of payment: cash (Euro) - 5 - MEALS Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the hotels where the teams are accommodated. Everyone is asked to wear their accreditation cards. Please wear your accreditation card! - 6 - TRANSPORTATION Shuttle buses are running on a regular basis between the regatta course and the official hotels. You can find the routes and the timetables in the appendix. To find shuttle bus stop please see the map in appendix. INFO CENTER Info center for the team leaders is located in the Accreditation Centre. Each team will receive the initial information package at the Accreditation Centre upon arrival. During the competition the staff at the Info center will provide all necessary information in regards to competition and beyond. CREW CHANGE You can find the corresponding form in appendix. Deadline for submitting your changes is Thursday July 13th, 2017 before 08.30h at the Accreditation Centre. MEDICAL CARE The following medical services are available for all accredited participants of the European Championships: doctor on duty, hospital and clinic assistance. A medical centre (see Regatta venue map position 31 and position 34) will operate at the regatta course with ambulance and first aid. The costs above the regular first aid and ambulance services are to be covered by your medical insurance policy. The Organising Committee is not responsible to cover your expenses in connection with hospital treatment, dental treatment or any other medical treatment. BOAT STORAGE Boat racks are provided in the Athletes’ Area. Trailers are to be parked in a designated parking area (see Regatta venue map position 12). Self boat control will be located in boat house 9. - 7 - BOAT RENTAL The Organising Committee does not take responsibility for boat rentals. Please connect to the producers. BOAT NUMBERS AND BODY NUMBERS The body numbers to be worn during the whole duration of the competition can be collected by the team leaders at accreditation. The boat numbers can be collected before the race at the designated place next to ID control (see Regatta venue map position 1) ID CONTROL The competitors can embark only from the designated place before the competition where their body numbers, boat numbers and accreditation cards are checked (see Regatta venue map position 1). SECOND (POST RACE) BOAT CONTROL After the race the competitors will be called to the second boat control and must disembark into the designated place (see Regatta venue map position 28). DOPING CONTROL The selected competitors are subject to doping control conforming to the relevant regulations at the designated place (Regatta venue map position 21). OFFICIAL TRAINING SESSIONS Tuesday, July 11, 08.30-20.00h Wednesday, July 12, 08.30-20.00h Thursday, July 13, 08.30-20.00h The OC provides lifeguard service during the training sessions. During the training time the competitors will have the opportunity to test the starting machine. Traffic rules on the water are in appendix. TEAM LEADERS’ MEETING Date: Thursday, July 13, 2017 Canoe Sprint at 10:00h; Paracanoe at 16:30h Venue: Regatta Course, Finish tower second level room 206 (see Regatta venue map position 3) Transportation: From the official hotels you can use the shuttle buses that run on a regular basis according to the timetable. CLASSIFICATION FOR PARACANOE The classification for atheletes will be in the Boat house 13 (see Regatta venue map position 22) - 8 - ITOs’ MEETING Date: Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11:30h Venue: Regatta Course, Finish tower second level room 206 (see Regatta venue map position 3). Transportation: A direct shuttle will provide transportation for ITOs from their hotel. CYCLING AT THE VENUE It is possible to follow the races on bicycles from the site of the Video screen. (see Regatta venue map position 2). RENT BICYCLE Price: 20 euro per day / 3 days 50 euro. For more info: Accreditation Centre. INTERNET Wireless internet service will be available in the vicinity of the Regatta venue free of charge. MEDAL PRESENTATION: After the finals athletes have to stay at the 2nd boat control. From there they will go to the medal presentation. Trainers/coaches have to bring the uniform to the 2nd boat control. DRINKING WATER: Water from public mains is safe to drink. Water will be distributed to team leader in boat house 9. Many Bulgarian professors have visited the United States in happier times. So it seems unfair that Ameri- cans and American universities have ignored so completely the development of the Bulgarian genius and culture during the past century.

    National Theatre "Ivan Vazov" – the cultural heart of Sofia Slide 1: Introduction The Ivan Vazov National Theater is located in the center of Sofia (the capital of Bulgaria). In front of the building is one of the most visited parks in the capital. It's known as the City Garden. The theater, has been chosen to be located near the Tzar’s Palace – former Royal Palace (nowadays the National Art Gallery). Slide 2: For more than 100 years, the Ivan Vazov National Theater has been recognized not only as a stage in Bulgaria, but also as a living, working and large-scale theater, that is aware of the important mission as a national cultural institute. The history of the theater is rich, interesting, contrasting in its rises and crisis, but always firmly connected with the essential changes and directions in the development of national culture and art. Slide 3: History In modernizing Sofia at the end of the 19th century, there was long a talk about the need to build a special building for the state theater, which, as the national poet Ivan Vazov points out, would give better opportunities "for the future greatness of dramatic art in Bulgaria". In December 1898, with a decision by the National Assembly was created a special fund for the construction of the building. Slide 4: The theater was designed by the famous Viennese architects Ferdinand Felner and Herman Helmer, who have already made numerous theatrical buildings in Vienna, Zagreb, Prague and other European cities. The construction started in 1904 on the site of the obsolete “Foundation” wooden playhouse, where previously the first professional troupe "Tear and Laughter" played its performances, and at the end of 1906 the building was completed.

He is an active participant in the restoration of Freemasonry in Bulgaria and has served as Grand Chaplain of the Grand Lodge of Bulgaria. Nedkov is a Mason 33 Degree (the highest), co-founder of the Supreme Council, 33 of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, former Grand Orator of the Grand Lodge of the Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons in Bulgaria. An avid Masonic scholar, he is the author of “The Freemasons Returned to Bulgaria” (1998) and “The Third Millennium of Freemasonry” (2000), “The Lessons of Freemasonry (2005).     Beyond Nation? A Thrice-Told Tale from Bulgaria’s Postsocialist Soundstage Donna A. Buchanan, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign Abstract: This article juxtaposes musical and dramatic productions popularized by three prominent Bulgarian national folkloric ensembles during the 2000s to illuminate the perspectival dialogues on nation at play within Bulgarian artistic communities. While presentations by the National Folkloric Ensemble “Bŭlgare” traffic in timeworn but disturbingly powerful primordialist appeals to ethnonationalist sentiment, those of rhythmic gymnast Neshka Robeva’s company “Neshanŭl Art” sidestep and extend the concept of nation by resituating local choreography and movement in a diaspora of international venues and transnational genres. Most strikingly, through strategically composed and choreographed works that call upon diverse regional and international folkloric and popular culture styles, including those of minority populations, the National Folkloric Ensemble “Philip Kutev” is deliberately performing against gender and ethnonationalist stereotypes in favor of productions cosmopolitan in form and postnationalist in content. In so doing, they are redefining the very essence of “national” folklore in direct defiance of a lingering socialist-era cultural policy legacy, while simultaneously parrying market tensions, touristic expectations, and dwindling governmental support.
