ROY CHETHAM HUNCOAT TRAIL WALK

10.00am, Saturday 9th November

Starting from the Huncoat Peace Garden, junction of Highergate Road and Burnley Lane, Huncoat

On Saturday 9th November the Huncoat Community Forum will be leading a celebration walk of the Huncoat Trail devised by former Chair, Roy Chetham.

Roy was Mr Huncoat and played a big part in most community initiatives that took place in the village including devising the Huncoat Trail, the Peace Garden, Spout House Woodlands as well as Chairing the Forum for many years.

Roy passed away earlier this year and to celebrate Roy's legacy to Huncoat we'll be walking the 9.5 mile trail and we'd like to invite you to join us.

We'll be starting from the Peace Garden so that people can also see the new carved stone installed in memory of Roy.

The entire walk is 9.5 miles but if that seems a tad too far then please feel free to join us for the initial lower level section of the Trail which is 5 miles and includes the Canal. This first half will lead us back towards the Peace Garden where people can finish, or else continue with us onto the higher level section which takes in Hameldon Scouts and the Coppice.

The 9.5 walk should take between 4 and 5 hours with plenty of rest breaks.

If you'd like to come along please just turn up on the day. You can also tell us by reply e-mail so we get an idea of numbers coming.

As the walk will be in November please expect cold windy weather, especially on the canal and also on the higher sections. Please wear suitable footwear, wear plenty of layers and also bring some snacks and a hot drink.

START: Huncoat Peace Garden, Highergate Road, , Lancashire BB5 6LN – see map below.
