Page 2 TWL Buy Pack Workshop Invitation – Apparel Suppliers

The Warehouse Ltd are constantly looking for opportunities to improve our Apparel offering to our customers. To support the delivery of this goal TWL are in the middle of a programme to deliver a more efficient end-to-end Supply Chain to ensure that we get the right garments to the right stores at the right time to give our stores the best chance to maximise H2T sales.

Phase 1 of this programme was the introduction of Hanging at Source, which we thank you for your support with so far. As a reminder, all garments for AW17 (from Mailer 25 – January 2017) will be hung at source. We will indicate on our PO’s when we want you to hang our garments and which hangers we want you to use. Do not hang our garments if our PO does not instruct you to do so.

We have an Apparel Packing Standards Manual which clearly defines ‘Apparel Packing Standards’ for suppliers involved in the manufacturing and supply of apparel to The Warehouse Group Ltd which can be viewed on our supplier website or by clicking here.

Hanging at Source is the key enabler to the second phase of our Apparel Speed to Market programme which is the introduction of Buy Packs (sometimes known as ratio packs) and the distribution of Apparel destined for stores via our South Island DC rather than all nationally via our DC.

Buy Packs are cartons with multiple garments of one option that contains the full range of appropriate sizes within it (known as a size curve).

Buy Packs: reduce handling, increase speed through the supply chain and gives the stores an easily identifiable, easy to merchandise initial allocation of new season products.

Story continued on page 4….

Page 3 Buy Pack story continued from page 3….

Our intention is that for SS18 (from Mailer 51 – July 2017) all seasonal garments will be delivered to us in a buy pack with an agreed quantity of replenishment stock in solid packs on the same order. Also from this date all apparel will be distributed to our South Island stores from our South Island Distribution Centre in so orders for these stores will be delivered directly into the South Island of New Zealand.

Many of you will be familiar with Buy Packs and their associated processes but to ensure absolute clarity we will be having supplier workshops in the week commencing 16th November, where we will provide in detail our packing and paperwork requirements in our Supplier Packaging Standards Manual that we will issue to all suppliers shortly.

If you have not received an invitation to a workshop please contact [email protected] in New Zealand or your SRO Merchandise Manager if you are an international supplier by Friday 11th November.

We thank you in advance for your support with this initiative and look forward to together delivering a better Apparel offering to our Customers.

Page 4 Christmas Supply

Just a reminder that we continue to deliver the best Christmas ever for our customers and in order to do this we need to know if our suppliers will be available to fill orders throughout the month of December 2016. There is still 9% of suppliers who have not replied to the reminder Suppliers Operational hours email sent out on 4th November 2016.

This information allows us to evaluate our stock levels for the christmas period to ensure our customers are not disappointed by unavailability. We also use this information to schedule the Auto Reorders you receive over this period.

If you haven’t already done so, please contact [email protected] to confirm the days you will be open for order processing.

Page 5 Heavy Bulky Packaging Icon Use

In accordance to New Zealand’s Occupational Health and Safety Law, Employee Health & Safety Act, suppliers must understand and give consideration to cartons and packaging they use for shipping and displaying merchandise. We have a new document available that provides a guide for suppliers as to The Warehouse recommended and approved Heavy Icons and markings to be used. This is in addition to the Gross Carton Weight that needs to be stated on all Shipping Markings.

Packaging decisions are at the discretion of the Buyers in conjunction with this guide. If suppliers are already using their own Heavy Icons – this should be discussed and signed off by The Warehouse Category Team.

A reminder that it is The Warehouse Group Ltd policy that all packaging: - Be fit for intended purpose of transport, storage, protection and display - Comply with our marking, information, and pricing requirements - Conform to our environmental principles of reducing unnecessary packaging, facilitating the re-use of recycling of packaging materials and restrict or eliminate particular types of packaging materials which are not environmentally friendly. - Conform to all relevant New Zealand Standards & Regulations

Please note the minimum acceptable board grade carton is to be: - Board grade 4 (minimum) - C flute (flutes running vertical to ensure box stacking is fully maximised) - Single wall (minimum)

Page 10 The Warehouse Group Gala Dinner – Supplier Awards

We would like to say a huge thank-you to all our suppliers and business partners to the Group who attended The Warehouse Group Gala Dinner at Vector Arena on Friday 19th August. It was a fantastic evening with our suppliers and business partners attending to celebrate and recognise success through our Supplier & Business Partner Awards, and to raise funds for our chosen community partners. The Warehouse Group “hosts” the dinner each year and all costs associated with the event management are at the expense of the Group. Monies are raised for the community partners through the sale of tickets, mystery envelope, silent and live auctions and “round the room” fundraising.

This year with your help, the dinner raised an incredible $765,000 for the ‘Empower’ programme, turning knowledge into action, combatting the growing issue of childhood obesity. Life Education Trust and Garden to Table Trust were recipients of the funds and who are jointly collaborating and managing the Empower programme.

We’d especially like to thank you, our suppliers, for making the Gala Dinner such a success, your generosity was amazing and is really going to make a difference. The awards, as always were very well received and noted below. We have picked a selection of photographs at random and displayed them below.
