Of course the usual suspects like Tupac and Biggie will be in this discussion. But other all-time greats like Rakim, DMX and OutKast could also be mentioned. I think everyone’s preferences would look a little different. Recently, a hip-hop podcast called “The Brew” tweeted out a list of the “Top 50 Greatest Rappers of All-Time”. The list that resulted in a Twitter uproar of angry fans and members of the music industry. The commenters had several big complaints. For one, no female artists were listed. One-hit wonder and now outspoken hip-hop critic Joe Budden was listed at No. 3. And a number of highly regarded top artists were either ranked horribly or absent from the list altogether. I agree that this list included a truly ridiculous sequence of artists. Upon seeing the list for the first time, I honestly thought it was a joke or a troll. 4. Nevertheless, despite its popularity - or better, precisely because of it - in the past years trap music has been heavily criticized over and over again, being depicted as an evil force that is gradually wiping out musical diversity from the world. But is trap music really always the same? To answer this question, this Master Thesis analyzed the Italian trap music case, one of the many examples of trap music glocalization. This Thesis had a dual approach: first, descriptive, and then quantitative, in order to present the most objective evaluation possible. The descriptive analysis compared our global music form - namely, American trap music - and of our glocal music form - namely, Italian trap music. Then, the findings of the aforementioned analysis were used to better specify the similarities and differences of the two music forms, both in terms of sound and of feelings. Finally, the findings were tested using some of the so-called Spotify audio features. The quantitative analysis confirmed the two main hypotheses of the Thesis: Italian trap music sound very similar to American trap music, but ultimately feels quite different from it.

When you think “fish”, you probably picture a trout or tuna—something you’d commonly see on the end of a hook or on a plate. But fishes come in all shapes and sizes, some with saxophone shaped bodies (seahorses!) or elongated like a snake (eels!). No matter the look, all fishes share the following key characteristics that classify them into this vertebrate group. So before we get into sharks and rays, let’s start with a more general overview that applies all types of fishes. While we’re at it, what is the correct plural version of the word “fish”? Well, it depends. If you are talking about more than one individual fish, the correct plural form is “fish” (I caught a bunch of fish today.). However, when scientists talk about multiple different types or groups of fish, the plural is “fishes” (My research focuses on coral reef fishes.) Fishes have the simplest of vertebrate hearts with only two chambers- one atrium and one ventricle. The atrium brings in de-oxygenated blood from the body, pumps it to the ventricle which sends blood to the Gills. Blood is oxygenated through the vessels in the gills and circulated throughout the body. The vertebral column in a fish runs down the middle of its back in a similar manner to humans. Not all fishes have bony vertebrae. Fishes are cold-blooded, or ectothermic.
