2017/2018 Canada Cup presented by Toyo Tires Canyon Ski Resort, Red Deer, Alberta February 15-18, 2018 Freestyle Alberta and Freestyle Canada are pleased to invite eligible athletes to the Canada Cup MO & DM Competition on February 15-18, 2018 at Canyon Ski Resort in Red Deer, Alberta. This competition will be valued by FIS and the Canada Cup. Spectators and media are encouraged to watch these talented athletes. Medal ceremonies will take place at the end of each competition. RULES: 1. The event is sanctioned by Freestyle Canada and is organized by Freestyle Alberta in partnership with Canyon Ski Resort 2. Rules are based on a combination of FIS Rules and Regulations and Canada Cup Freestyle Competition Guidelines 3. The Competition comprises two (2) Mogul events (Mogul & Dual Moguls) 4. All athletes must have a Freestyle Canada Air 4B Certified CoaCh present. 5. All athletes must have up-to-date aerial qualifications for jumps they are performing in all disciplines. The FC Technical Delegate will verify a random selection of athlete’s qualifications during the Team Leaders meeting the day before each event with the coach of the athlete. There is an ATHLETE Room on the Main Floor for you to leave bags, change, etc. It is a short drive to top of hill so you may drop off athletes in lower parking lot and park up top. Any unused spots will move to the other gender. 80 spots for Canada, 10 spots for Foreign athletes. Moguls: Qualifications: Best of two runs Final: 1 run. Top 40% from qualification move to Finals, minimum of 6 athletes and a maximum of 20 athletes. * Finals field size will be determined at the first team leaders meeting Duals: Qualifications: One run Final: Up to top 32 seeded from qualification. * Number of rounds will be determined by the Organizing Committee at the first team leaders meeting. A refundable bib deposit of $20 CA will be required at check in. Registration Timelines: The Priority registration policy for Canada Cup has been created to ensure PSO & HPAD athletes have an opportunity to register and secure a spot at these events • Priority Registration (PSO & National Team) CLOSES Jan 15, 2018 • All registration closes Feb 5, 2018 • Wait list can be kept if registration is full. If spots open, athletes will be notified • Athletes can register up to the day before the event if there are spots open. • If open spots remain, eligible athletes can register up until Team Captains meeting the day before the event. Foreign athletes will be confirmed by Freestyle Canada by Feb 8, 2018. Foreign athletes must be approved by their nation; show proof of insurance have a current FIS #. For more information, contact [email protected] BIBS: Coaches will receive athlete bibs upon completion of waivers and bios and collection of $20CA for each of their athletes. Bibs must be worn properly for training and competition, not wearing the bib properly may result in disqualification. If a bib is lost or forgotten there will be a $20.00 replacement fee. If an athlete forgets a bib and can bring the bib the next day it will be an additional $20.00 deposit. If an athlete needs to replace their bib, they must ensure the on-site registration staff updates their entry information. Bibs must be returned to the registration office, in good condition, after the event to receive the deposit back. LIFT TICKETS: Lift tickets will be available for purchase each day of training and competition at Guest Services with presentation of competitor bib. Each competitor is responsible for the purchase of his or her own lift ticket for each day of the event. Canyon Ski Resort offers reduced ticket prices to athletes. • Ticket office opens at 8 am daily • Cost of Competitor Lift Ticket is $35 • lift tickets for registered coaching staff, $35 • Lift Tickets for judges, media, officials and volunteers are available at the Race Desk each day, but are limited in numbers. VOLUNTEERS: The success of these events depends on volunteers. Limited number of volunteer lift tickets will be available to those who sign up. Thank you! RACE DESK: South Room upstairs in Mainlodge. Accessible from the bottom parking lot. All participants must check in at the Race Desk to confirm participation in the event. REFUNDS: Once an athlete is confirmed on a start list, refunds will not be issued. In the case of an injury the coach or parent must notify the registration desk, to inform that an athlete is injured and unable to ski before the Team Captains meeting the day before the competition day. Athletes are entitled to partial refunds of up to 50% per event. Requests for refunds for other extraordinary circumstances shall be considered only at the discretion of the Organizing Committee. If an event is cancelled due to weather or exceptional circumstances no refunds will be provided. (The organizing committee has already incurred all costs for the event). LIABILITY & ACCIDENT INSURANCE: All athletes, officials and other members of the regions who attend and participate in the event shall do so at their own risk. Every competitor is required to have his/her own medical and life insurance that is adequate and covers the maneuvers being performed in training and competition, as well as a valid FC Membership. The Organizing Committee, Canadian Freestyle Ski Association, Alberta Freestyle Skiing Association, Canyon Ski Resort and the Canadian Snowsports Association shall not be responsible for accidents, damaged or lost equipment and belongings and/or second or third party claims during the staging of the event.
