An exploration will be undertaken into how SEL can be taught, embedded in curricula, measured, and assessed, and why SEL skills and competencies are an essential part of the solution to many of great global challenges facing the next decade. The session will draw on established and cutting-edge research to define SEL, and to look at different SEL programs and practices from around the world. It will also demonstrate how the skills, competencies and behaviors that SEL programs help learners develop are essential for addressing a variety of global challenges. The session also provides opportunity to respond and contribute to a specific call to action to embed SEL throughout the decade ahead. This session will address the importance of increasing the supply of qualified educators and explore ways of doing so on a global scale. It will explore the need for developing inclusive teacher training policies to ensure diversity of teachers capable of educating every social demographic. The session will contribute the benefits of SEL in increasing students’ chances of accessing higher education. The C20 Education Working Group calls for SEL certification must be incorporated into the mainstream curricula across all levels and pathways of education provision. This session will discuss the contribution SEL would have on civil society across both industrialized and developing countries. • Shakespeare on Film, Video & Stage
William Shakespeare on Film, Video and Stage Titles in bold red font with an asterisk (*) represent the crème de la crème – first choice titles in each category. These are the titles you’ll probably want to explore first. Titles in bold black font are the second- tier – outstanding films that are the next level of artistry and craftsmanship. Once you have experienced the top tier, these are where you should go next. They may not represent the highest achievement in each genre, but they are definitely a cut above the rest. Finally, the titles which are in a regular black font constitute the rest of the films within the genre. I would be the first to admit that some of these may actually be worthy of being “ranked” more highly, but it is a ridiculously subjective matter. • Think Equal Program: a Curriculum for Social Transformation
EDUforics Anticipando la educación del futuro http://www.eduforics.com Think Equal program: a curriculum for social transformation Leslee Udwin was voted by the NY Times the No 2 Most Impactful Woman of 2015 (second to Hillary Clinton), and has been awarded the prestigious Swedish Anna Lindh Human Rights Prize (previously won by Madeleine Albright). She has also been named Safe’s Global Hero of 2015, Global Thinker by Foreign Policy. A BAFTA and multi-award winning filmmaker and Human Rights Campaigner, Leslee’s documentary “India’s Daughter”, has been critically acclaimed around the globe, won 32 awards (including the Peabody Award and the Amnesty International Media Award for Best Documentary 2016) and sparked a global movement to end violence against women and girls. The searing insights yielded by the 2½ journey making “India’s Daughter”, led Leslee to found UK-and-US-based Not for Profit global education initiative “Think Equal”. Education is the most important, if not the only, means of achieving positive change, that we have at our disposal; but not “education” as we know it. If we really want to transform mind sets and prevent violence, greed, injustice, callousness and selfishness, we need to create the foundation in in the early years, when values, morals, social and emotional intelligence, self regulation of behaviour and attitudes are being formed and the neurological pathways of the brain’s architecture are being built. This foundation should be the core purpose of Early Years Education. The aim of early education should be to help and direct children live fulfilled, respectful, productive and compassionate lives, as engaged and equal citizens who hold themselves and others to be of absolutely equal value.
