PREFACE ' Bihar Statistical Hand Book ' is a biennial publication of the Directorate. Though compiled regularly, Bihar Statistical Hand Book 2006-2010 is the Second publication after the re- organization of the State of Bihar in the year 2000. In this issue, basic data related to various aspects of State's Economy and other subjects, like Demography, Agriculture, Education etc have been compiled. I hope, this publication would be useful to Researcher, Planners and others. I am grateful to the concerned Central and State Government departments and other Institutions for their valued co-operation in bringing out this publication. It incorporates tables giving data on Area and Population, Climate and Rainfall, Agriculture and Irrigation, Livestock, Forest, Co- operative Societies, Fuel and power, Industries Factories, Transport, Education, Medical facilities, Police, jail, Land Revenue, Excise, Sale Tax, Registration, State Income and Planning Statistics. This is expected to provide an overall view of states Social and Economic aspects in its broader perspective. The inclusion of district tables on all these aspects will assist the readers in assessing the regional disparity in the State. The data presented in this publication have been drawn from a variety of services. I am grateful to all concerned Central and State Government Departments and other Institutions for their valued co-operation in bringing out this publication.
