Music@Park: Olly Murs Und Söhne Mannheims Music@Park: Olly Murs und Söhne Mannheims Music@Park, das Mega-Event von Radio Regenbogen im Europa-Park, kehrt zurück - und das mit gleich zwei Headlinern! Der britische Pop-Superstar Olly Murs („Heart Skips A Beat“) und die badischen Dauerbrenner Söhne Mannheims werden am 01.06.2013 für einmalige Stimmung zwischen den unzähligen Attraktionen des Europa-Park sorgen. Auch für Party-Atmosphäre hat Badens Hitradio gesorgt: Deutschlands bekanntester Radio-DJ Enrico Ostendorf, der mit „In The Mix“ jedes Wochenende für Partylaune sorgt und das Team von bigFM Urban Club Beats werden den Europa-Park zum Paradies für Partylöwen machen. Nervenkitzel auf der Achterbahn „Silver Star“, exklusive Konzerte, Party bis in die frühen Morgenstunden und das alles für 21 Euro: Radio Regenbogen und der Europa-Park machen es möglich! Etwas ruhiger lassen es die Söhne Mannheims angehen, die seit 2000 nicht mehr aus der deutschen Musiklandschaft wegzudenken sind. Songs wie „Vielleicht“ und „Und wenn ein Lied“ sind absolute Dauerbrenner, die Alben „Zion“, „Noiz“, „Iz On“ und „Barrikaden von Eden“ stürmten allesamt die Charts. Die Bands/Acts: Olly Murs: Olly Murs ist der geborene Pop-Star: Seine markante Stimme, seine Songs mit größtem Ohrwurm-Potential und nicht zuletzt sein gutes Aussehen und seine Entertainerqualitäten lassen seit 2009 junge und alte Fan-Herzen höher schlagen! In diesem Jahr startete er als Kandidat in der britischen Ausgabe der Gesangs-Show „The X Factor“, wo er es bis ins Finale schaffte. Ein Star war geboren! In England schaffte es bereits sein Debüt „Olly Murs“ an die Spitze der Charts, der europaweite Durchbruch gelang ihm mit dem Mega-Hit „Heart Skips A Beat“, der es auch in Deutschland auf Platz eins schaffte. Söhne Mannheims: Die Söhne Mannheims sind eine Institution im deutschen Pop-Business! Sechs Alben, die es alle in die Top Ten geschafft haben, zwei „Goldene Stimmgabeln“, ein „Echo“ und zwei „Comet“-Auszeichnungen sprechen eine deutliche Sprache. Eine noch deutlichere Sprache sprechen allerdings die Songs der Mannheimer Kollektivs, die Themen wie Religion, Liebe und Freundschaft behandeln. Dabei bedient sich das aus zwölf Musikern bestehende Ensemble unzähliger Musikstile und schafft so eine musikalische Bandbreite, die ihresgleichen sucht! Schon das Debütalbum „Zion“ und die Singleauskopplung „Geh davon aus“ katapultierte die Musiker aus dem Herzen Badens an die Spitze der Charts. 2004 folgte mit „Noiz“ das zweite Album und mit „Vielleicht“, „Und wenn ein Lied“ und „Wenn du schläfst“ drei absolute Mega-Hits – sechs Platin-Schallplatten waren die Folge! He was halfway through a string of sixteen consecutive #1 singles on the country chart in the industry-leading “Billboard” magazine, and had just been invited to appear at New York City’s prestigious Carnegie Hall. Already designated a National Historic Landmark, the esteemed venue had hosted Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Stravinsky, Gershwin, Bernstein, and Ellington. Owens recognized the honor of being asked, but instructed his manager, Jack McFadden, to decline the offer. “When they first started talking about it, it scared me to death,” he admitted in a 1967 radio interview with Bill Thompson. Buck was worried the Manhattan audience wouldn’t be interested in his music, and he wanted to avoid the embarrassment of unsold tickets. McFadden pushed him to reconsider. When Ken Nelson, Owens’ producer at Capitol Records, suggested they record the performance and release it as his first live album, Buck finally conceded. Mancuso © 2018 Steven Robert Bellavia All Rights Reserved iii ABSTRACT Andrew Schocket, Advisor This dissertation examines the experiences of the final Cold War generation. I define this cohort as a subset of Generation X born between 1965 and 1971. The primary focus of this dissertation is to study the ways this cohort interacted with the three messages found embedded within the Cold War us vs. them binary. These messages included an emphasis on American exceptionalism, a manufactured and heightened fear of World War III, as well as the othering of the Soviet Union and its people. I begin the dissertation in the 1970s, - during the period of détente- where I examine the cohort’s experiences in elementary school. There they learned who was important within the American mythos and the rituals associated with being an American. This is followed by an examination of 1976’s bicentennial celebration, which focuses on not only the planning for the celebration but also specific events designed to fulfill the two prime directives of the celebration. As the 1980s came around not only did the Cold War change but also the cohort entered high school. Within this stage of this cohorts education, where I focus on the textbooks used by the cohort and the ways these textbooks reinforced notions of patriotism and being an American citizen.

    Jacknife Lee It is fair to say that Jacknife Lee has become one of the most sought after and highly influential producers currently at work. Lee’s career has encompassed work with some of the biggest and most influential artists on both sides of the Atlantic in the shape of Taylor Swift, U2, R.E.M., Kasabian, Robbie Williams and Neil Diamond. His work on U2’s “How To Dismantle An Atom Bomb” saw him collect two Grammy Awards in 2006 as well as Producer of the Year at the UK MMF Awards.     Kate (Catherine) King 1961-2011 49 Years In 2004 my strong and healthy mother told my two brothers and myself that she had Breast Cancer. Just like that, our world was rocked. We then watched her undergo chemotherapy, lose her hair and have operation after operation. Cancer is unfair. Yet this unremitting, uncompromising and unprejudiced disease does something unexpected, it unites us. Hearing the words “I have Breast Cancer” come from my mother’s mouth profoundly changed me. It changed us as individuals and also as a family. It changed the way we spoke to one another, the way we treated one another and the way we lived our lives. Ironically, Cancer changed us for the better. Cancer made us better people, and a stronger, more loving family. Mama was, and always will be my best friend and I hope someday to be half the person she was. She always looked forward, and planned for the future. She never let negative thoughts or any diagnosis get the better of her. She envisioned seeing her children get married, meeting her grandchildren and growing old with the love of her life. People often say, “If anyone deserved a miracle it was your mum”. She was blessed with many miracles. She had three children that idolised her, had a Husband that loved her unconditionally, had friends that cherished her, had family and extended family that adored her and she was blessed with 6 more years when doctors only gave her 6 months in April 2005. She was our Hero. No, she didn’t get the miracle we all hoped for but she had many miracles in this lifetime, ones that most people can only dream about.
