Se lista un total de 110 espe- cies, con distribución y comentarios. Pertenecen a diez subfamilias, de las cuales Alticinae, con 45,45% de las especies, es claramente predominante. Esta lista tiene el 51,78% de elementos de amplia distribución geográfica, el 30,04% del Mediterrá- neo y el 18,18% de los endemismos ibéricos o ibero-magrebíes. La mayoría de las especies (91,95%) están presentes en Cádiz y/o Granada. De las especies inventariadas, 64 son nuevas citas para la provincia de Huelva. Además, Epitrix pubes- cens (Koch) y Cassida vibex (L.) no se conocían con anterioridad de Andalucía. Este trabajo es una contribución al conoci- miento de la fauna de coleópteros de Andalucía y de la Península Ibérica. Chorological catalogue of the leaf beetles (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) of Huelva (south-western Andalusia, Spain) Abstract: The first chorological checklist of the Chrysomelidae of Huelva province is presented. A total of 110 species are listed, mapped and commented upon. They belong to ten subfamilies, of which Alticinae, with 45.45% species, is clearly preva- lent. This list includes 51.78% wide distribution elements, 30.04% Mediterranean elements, and 18.18% Iberian or Ibero- Magrebian endemics. Most species (91.95%) are shared with Cádiz and/or Granada. Epitrix pubescens (Koch) and Cassida vibex (L.) are new species for Andalusia, and 67 of them for Huelva province. The paper is a contribution to the knowledge of the Coleoptera fauna of Andalusia and that of the Iberian Peninsula.     Review of evidence concerning ragwort impacts, ecology and control options Report to Defra OCTOBER 2013 Authors: Ruth Laybourn, Debbie Kessell, Naomi Jones, Simon Conyers, Caroline Hallam, Nigel Boatman Food and Environment Research Agency Sand Hutton, York, YO41 1LZ 1 2 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Introduction Ragwort is a widespread native plant in the UK, which occurs in a range of habitats including those used for grazing livestock and hay or silage production, and is of concern because it contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) which are toxic to livestock. Problems have occurred particularly with poisoning of horses. Ragwort is a specified weed in the Weeds Act 1959, under which land owners can be required to take all reasonable steps to prevent spread on their land and onto adjoining land. Defra have issued a Code of Practice on How to Prevent the Spread of Ragwort, which was published in 2004 (revised 2007) (Defra, 2007). In order to ensure that guidance continues to be based on the latest and best evidence, the work reported here was commissioned by Defra with the following objectives: o Review and update the evidence base on the impacts of ragwort on livestock, methods of control and the cost, benefits and impacts of control; o Investigate experience of ragwort problems, policy and control in other countries o Make suggestions relating to the Code of Practice and further research needs. Biology and ecology Studies of Ragwort ecology and distribution have shown that: Ragwort is found in a wide range of habitats but requires bare ground or disturbance to establish. Ragwort plants form a rosette in their first year and typically flower, set seed and die in the second year, though in some situations they can be longer lived.

Chrysomelid beetles inhabiting the herb, shrub and tree layers of two mixed forest ecosystems dominated by pine–oak–hawthorn were studied during April–October in 2005 and 2006 in Isparta province, Turkey. The leaf beetles of both sites were investi- gated in terms of species composition, dominance structure and vegetation preference. Frequency values and host plants were also provided for some species. A total of 127 Chrysomelidae species belonging to ten subfamilies were collected. Species composi- tion similarity between the herb and tree layers was 3% at both sites, while similarity between the shrub and tree layers was 25% at site I and 44% at site II. In terms of veg- etation structure, the herb layers of the two sites shared 60% of their chrysomelid spe- cies, the shrub layers shared 44% and the tree layers shared 50%, a result also reflected in a PCA analysis.

    Insect Fauna in Detail The following list represents the best available current knowledge, but is likely to be incomplete. Many species of insect may be found on Ragwort ( Senecio spp.) but some may have only a casual relationship. Of those insects that eat Ragwort, it is necessary to separate those species that will eat many types of plant from those that are specific to Ragwort or which have relatively few other food plants.
