Consistent with previous publications the artificial casts of type specimens are included and. when known, the deposi- tories of the original specimens are given. In addition, the Museum has numerous casts of fossil crinoids from the James Hall collection that are probably his unfigured original specimens. Specimens belonging to the University of Chicago (Walker Museum of Paleontology) now permanently deposited in P^ield Mu- seum are prefixed UC; those belonging to Field Museum are prefixed P or PE. Only holotypes are recognized as valid types, other so calknl types, "paratypes," "cotypes,"' "plesiotypes," etc. are considered re- ferred specimens. The generic and specific names are listed in their original spelling. The name of the author of the species is always given and is followed by the original date of publication. An attempt has been made to note all systematic changes. The nomenclatural emendations on specific levels not based on our specimens are given under "Remarks." The stratigi'aphic and geographic data are those of the original authors supplemented by information from the Mu- seum catalogues. A number of references, including Treatise on Invertebrate Paleontology, have been consulted. With few excep- tions, textbook references have been omitted. This work was supported in part by the National Science Foun- dation grant number GB-7197. CATALOGUE OF EOCRINOIDS Lysocystites nodosus (Hall, 1868) Referred specimens: UC 18943, five specimens.
