Producers: Rebecca Eaton, David Lascelles, Tessa Ross Production Co. BBC / Twenty Twenty Television REVIEWS: "Fotini did a marvelous job on THE CHILDREN ACT. She’s totally reliable, extremely talent-friendly, has a very original eye and a great awareness of costume’s role in shaping a drama.” Producer, Duncan Kenworthy OBE I have had the huge privilege of working with Fotini twice, on The Children Act and King Lear with Richard Eyre. She is a remarkable designer with an eye for detail second to none and a flair for the dramatic when necessary and the understated elegant when not. I would work with her again in the blink of an eye and am so grateful for the massive contribution she has made to the creation of my characters and to the industry as a whole. Dame Emma Thompson “She is a brilliant costume designer, with a perfect understanding of actors and of the process of film-making. She is universally admired and loved.” Director, Sir Richard Eyre “Fotini Dimou is a true alchemist - she can design the most beautiful and unique costumes but in such a way that you can't ever imagine those characters wearing anything else. Her attention to detail and meticulous eye are tremendous assets to any production. She cares passionately about her work and raises the bar from the rest of us who can only dream of reaching her lofty heights!” Producer, Noëllette Buckley How the costumes in BBC’s KinG Lear made Shakespeare Glamorous aGai, “One of the most glamorous interpretations in decades”. Costume designer Fotini Dimou clothed over 700 actors in total for the two hour adaptation but before she could think about army uniforms and extras, her first task was to imagine what the lead character, Anthony Hopkins and his quarrelling daughters, Emma Thompson, Emily Watson and Florence Pugh might choose to wear in director Richard Eyre’s modern London setting. Some of the locations evoked the old world, others the new, and I had to come up with modern yet romantic costumes to inhabit these extraordinary spaces and visually tie everything together”.
