By 1895, the disc brake was patented by Frederick William Lanchester of Britain. In 1889, Panhard et Levassor in France became the first company to form to build just automobiles. Steam, electricity, and gasoline-powered autos competed for the market share. The car was becoming big business in history. From 1908 to 1927, the Ford Model T became the most widely produced car of its time. The vintage era of Car History lasted lasted from 1919 to 1929 and was dominated by front engine cars. The pre-war era of car history laster from 1930 to 1948. This ear was perhaps dominated by the Volkswagen Beetle. The Post-War era of Car History was the greatest period of Car Development.
