Ÿ In September 2014, the Phakamisa Prostate Programme was launched at the Thekolohelong Welfare Centre in Qwaqwa. Ÿ The Mangaung breast cancer walk took place on 4 October 2014 with 110 participants who each received a free clinical breast examination as part of the registration fee. Ÿ A breast cancer fun run was held on 11 October 2014 in Tumahole, Parys. Ÿ On 15 and 18 October 2014, CANSA took part in cancer educational talks on Ligwalagwala FM about breast cancer, Darren Maule from East Coast Radio helping reaching over 1.8 million listeners. to raise awareness of breast cancer Ÿ The third annual breast cancer walk in partnership with the Department of Education was held on 24 October 2014 in Bloemfontein. Ÿ A ‘pink parade’ was held on 25 October 2014, in Margate, in support of breast cancer awareness. Ÿ The CANSA Nelspruit Care Centre participated in three wellness days for Woolworths in October 2014. Ÿ The CANSA Durban Care Centre took part in the Barloworld Wellness Day Talk in October 2014. Ÿ Transnet hosted a wellness day in October 2014 for about 100 people, where CANSA gave talks about breast and prostate cancer, and provided glucose tests. A isiZulu translator was available.
