OREL & WILFRIED MÜLLER 9 783961 710867 Porsche stands for seven decades of sports car lineage. Its grand heritage of unique design lines and technical philosophy is seen through the years in such renowned models as the 356, 550, 904 Carrera GTS, and 911. Porsche equally stands for creative breaks from tra- dition with innovation and the creation and fulfillment of sports car fantasies. With an outstanding track record in speed and high performance, Porsche has won the most famous long-distance races in the world: Le Mans, Day- tona, and Sebring. It has triumphed at great road races like Targa Florio, Carrera Panamericana, and with rally victories in Monte Carlo. Since Porsche’s founding in Stuttgart, Germany in 1931, extraordinary men and women—entrepreneurs, engi- neers, racers, visionaries—have collectively made the Swabian company the most famous sports car manufac- turer in the world. Back in 1938, the car possessed all the DNA—elegance, dynamism, and the most cutting-edge technology—that would go on to inform seminal Porsche models like the 911 or the 996. Still light years away from the sleek Cayenne of the new mil- lennium and standard turbo-drive, this aerodynamic prototype already reached a top speed of 145 km/h. It is perhaps precisely because they are often shot in extreme situations that Sahin’s breathtaking mountain panoramas, photographs of mountain lakes, and rugged landscapes are such a social media hit. Thousands fol- low him on Instagram et al., while a wide audience also knows him as the face of Jack Wolfskin. Now, for the first time, he gathers his most awe-inspiring photographs in one volume, sharing insights into his life and work. Where does this longing for untouched, authentic nature come from? How does it feel to reach a mountain summit by sunrise? What if, contrary to expectations, an entire vista is obscured by clouds and photography becomes impossible? In images and words, the acclaimed star photographer shares his own emotional world in a para- digm of “Generation Instagram.” Sahin’s book is for those whom the next mountain peak and open nature cannot be close enough—for all hikers, GUEREL SAHIN, born in Kaiserslautern, Germany, stud- climbers, and outdoor junkies.
