Sincerely Guadalajara Pride Committee GUADALAJARA PRIDE ABOUT US The first LGBTIQ protest in Guadalajara took place in 1981, when a group of LGBTIQ people were taken out of a bar for “lack of morals”. It's been almost 40 years since this group of brave people started to create new dreams, and some of them have already came true. Guadalajara Pride is not just the 8th largest Pride parade in Latin America, and the second biggest one in Mexico, it is also an organization with a great commitment to spread the LGBTIQ culture and education through the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area. Guadalajara Pride has the most extensive LGBTIQ cultural programs in the Mexican Pride Movement, which includes sport events (a national soccer cup), film projections, human rights presentations and trainings, art and cultural workshops (which includes dance, theater and music), and events related with innovation and information technology, most of them are for free, thanks to partnerships with insitutions, government ministries and sponsors. Guadalajara Pride is also a platform for work, discovering new talents and helping to raise the voice of the political and social needs of the community. The organizing committee of the Guadalajara Pride is non-partisan, non- governmental, self-managed and non-profit, with a deep interest and commitment in that public policies, human rights, access to recreational activities and access to information provide equality and empower LGBTIQ people.
