Dejonghe's and Ch. Dumont's shop window, dealers of fine colors on the 47 Republique Street in Rouen. This painting of the young artist has been noticed and appreciated by the journalist G. Dubosc. The talent of the boy and the support of his parents allowed him to meet and get the help of François Depeaux, a great collector, and finally to enter the Fine Art School of Rouen in 1902, in Philippe Zacharie's class. From 1903, he took part in the Salon of Fine Art in Rouen, and the year after he first exhibited at the Autumn Salon in Paris. In 1905, the gallery Legrip welcomed the young artist for his first personal exhibition. Then Robert Antoine Pinchon joined the Society of Norman Artists. François Depeaux bougth him two paintings and introduced him to a Parisian Gallery for an exhibition. There again, the critic and the public were charmed by his paintings. The year 1907 marked a new step in his work when he exhibited for the second time at the Autumn Salon. He discovered there a movement that will change his life : the Fauvism. The radiance if his palette met the fauve investigations then in full of growth, without ever going to the expressive arbitrary of pure color.

Her great-grandmother, Countess Martine de Behague, was one of the great art patrons of the 1920s. Her splendid collection included the works of Leonardo da Vinci, Titian, Dürer and Monet; these works can now be enjoyed at The Louvre. Art and nature very quickly occupied a predominant place in the life of young Isabelle, and when she was only 15 years old she was accepted to the famous Beaux-Arts in Rouen. This was an honor rarely bestowed on someone so young and serves as an early indication of her talent. In 1976, Isabelle met Albert Malet, the last Impressionist painter of the School of Rouen. Malet had been a student of Robert Antoine Pinchon and he would become Isabelle’s mentor for the next ten years. Isabelle continued her formal education at the Acadèmie Julian and l’École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where she was first in her class. Isabelle returned to Rouen, and began exhibiting throughout France. Critics praised her unique style and more exhibitions followed for the artist. Malet, who had always been aware of her gift as an artist, designated Isabelle as his successor. Upon his death in 1986, Isabelle assumed his position as Maïtre de l’École de Rouen.
