Well since our last show we have had some bad news, young Mark Bevis past away only 49 years of age this was very sad. He was a great eight ball player and he loved his country music, all our thoughts will go to the Bevis Family. Moving on to our April show which was Bernie & The Bandits plus Billy Dee and Shane Johnson, our May Show was The Hoffmans plus Phil King another great day, our June show will be the man himself, Brian Letton and Cactus Martens. We are expecting another great day. Well moving on, many thanks to all our committee workers and volunteers and kitchen staff for all the work that they have done, many thanks to our Lorraine Wakefield for the hours she puts in contacting all those artists and for the use of her home for our meetings every month it saves us heaps, also many thanks to those two ladies that sit on Joy and Fred Champions table for their help on our last show we were short of helpers in the kitchen. Now don’t forget our JUNE SHOW IS PIES AND PASTIES PLEASE TRY AND KEEP THE CRUMBS ON THE TABLES AS IT’S HARD TO CLEAN UP AFTERWARDS. Also, so you don’t catch a cold, don’t forget to bring your COATS OR A JUMPER FOR THE WINTER MONTHS AS we don’t have HEATERS IN OUR CLUB. If anybody wishes to help in the kitchen every month it would be appreciated that’s women or men it does not matter. Many of Australia’s greatest radio serials were produced during the 1940s. Among those listed in this guide are the Sunday night one-hour plays - The Lux Radio Theatre and The Macquarie Radio Theatre (becoming the Caltex Theatre after 1947); the many Jack Davey Shows, and The Bob Dyer Show; the Colgate Palmolive variety extravaganzas, headed by Calling the Stars, The Youth Show and McCackie Mansion, which starred the outrageously funny Mo (Roy Rene). Fine drama programs produced in Sydney in the 1940s included The Library of the Air and Max Afford's serial Hagen's Circus. Among the comedy programs listed from this decade are the George Wallace Shows, and Mrs 'Obbs with its hilariously garbled language.

  • Media Release
Wednesday, 27 June 2018 MEDIA RELEASE Funds sought to commemorate legendary Frank Ifield with Bronze Bust Frank Ifield is the next country music legend selected to be commemorated with a Bronze Bust in Tamworth, the Country Music Capital of Australia. Frank’s amazing career both in Australia and overseas has seen him become known as a pioneer of the country music industry. He has been inducted into the Country Music Roll of Renown, the ARIA Hall of Fame, and has received the Tamworth Independent Artist Recognition Award for his commitment to the nurturing of talent through the Frank Ifield International Spur Award. His hit songs include I Remember You, Lovesick Blues and Waywind Blues and the Tamworth Bronze Bust Committee is now seeking funds to help further honour Frank with a Bronze Bust in Bicentennial Park, right in the heart of Tamworth, NSW. Ms Lorraine Pfitzner, Bronze Bust Coordinator said: “Commemorating country music industry legends with a bronze bust started back in 1991 and since then has seen the likes of Tex Morton, Buddy Williams, Barry Thornton, Stan Coster, Reg Lindsay, Jimmy Little and Shirley Thoms cast in bronze and mounted in Bicentennial Park. “The Busts cost around $20,000 and so-far the committee has raised $7,200, so we are now seeking the support of organisations and individuals to help us reach our target and ensure Frank receives this deserving honour.” The Legends of Country Music row has become one of the “must see” country music experiences in Tamworth and a fundraising concert is being held during Tamworth’s annual Toyota Hats Off to Country Festival this coming July.
