PRESS KIT THE VENUE 470 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MEN & WOMEN 04-13 SEPTEMBER 2006 RIZHAO, CHINA THE VENUE The venue for the 2006 International 470 Class World Championships is the offshore sea area of Wanpingkou in Rizhao with two 3000 m diameter race areas 500 m from the beach, the Wanping- kou square and the ultramodern Rizhao Interna- tional Water Sports Base. Water depth is 10 m. Rizhao, meaning “the sun shines”, got its name in year 1087, a beautiful oriental coastal city with civilisation dating back 5000 years with its blue sky, jade sea and 60 km golden sand beaches looks forward to welcoming with open arms and warm heart and hospitality the Europe Class sailing family from all around the world to the opening up China. 470 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS MEN & WOMEN From the 4th till the 13th of July, the 470 World Championships Men & Women will be held at Cascais, Portugal, as part of the ISAF Sailing World Championships 2007. ISAF SAILING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS The 2007 ISAF Sailing World Championships is the combined event for World Championships for Olympic Classes the World Championships of all Olympic Classes. The combined event takes place from 28 June-13 July in Cascais, Portugal. 'The Wind Is Calling' is the official motto for the 2007 Worlds. The Championships are the principal qualification regatta for the 2008 Olympic Sailing Competition, with 75% of all national places to be decided.
