I would like to warmly welcome each and every one of you to our annual conference. I am so glad you could attend! You will find this conference filled with keynotes, roundtables, sectionals, vendor visits and discussion groups that you will find valuable in your job imme- diately. Don’t miss out on all the chances for networking with your colleagues during our morning continental breakfasts, lunches and evening events! We have our popular evening receptions hosted by long-time supporters of our conference, BDO and Altman, Rogers & Co., as well as our Banquet and Casino/Karaoke night on Tuesday. A heartfelt thank you for the countless hours put into this program by Cassee Olin and Amy Lujan! Also a huge thank you to all the members that participated in our Summer Leader- ship, where the planning for this event began. Please fill out the evaluation after the confer- ence, as that guides the planning for the next year. Also please consider attending the Summer Leadership in July to be part of the planning for the 2018 conference! One of the changes that were a result of our summer strategic planning and conference planning was the change to a one day vendor/trade show. Take advantage of the extra time in the schedule on Monday to touch base with your current vendors and visit new ones! The support of our vendors is what makes this conference possible. I would like to thank all of our vendors for supporting us with the vendor show and our other events throughout the conference. Thank you for your continued support of ALASBO! I’m excited for our keynote addresses every morning at 9 AM! We have the riveting John Sedor, Esquire on Monday, the inspirational dog-musher and athlete DeeDee Jonrowe on Tuesday and a timely discussion of legislative issues and our state fiscal situation on Wednesday. A very special thank you to John Sedor for providing us with his witty and un- forgettable presentations of legal issues that impact schools at our ALASBO conferences for many years! Finally, thank you to the ALASBO Board and all the ALASBO members for your dedication and hard work. You exemplify this year’s ALASBO theme of Pulling Together for Alaska’s Youth!
