As media does not rely on physical border crossing to bring us in con- tact with different subject positions, traditional forms of mobility are not necessary to include people in transnational discourse and narratives of transnational identification. However, scholarly attention has been focused on discourses of transnational identities tied to tradition- al transgressions of national space. -

Abstract I believe film has the power to transform people's lives and minds and to enlighten today's generation like any other medium. This is why I wanted to write my thesis about film distribution as it will determine the future of the industry itself. The way films are distributed, accessed and consumed will be critical in shaping our future entertainment culture and the way we approach content. -

Sense8 Roundtable
Moya Bailey, micha cárdenas, Laura Horak, Lokeilani Kaimana, Cáel M. Keegan, Geneveive Newman, Roxanne Samer, and Raffi Sarkissian Sense8 Roundtable Abstract In “Sense8: A Roundtable,” eight scholars, myself included, think through key questions regarding one of today’s most impressive trans-produced mainstream media productions, Lana and Lilly Wachowski’s Netflix series Sense8, which has yet to receive substantive scholarly attention. We analyze how Sense8 both follows and breaks from the Wachowskis’ prior approach to narrative; offers a distinctly trans* engagement with the histories of cinematic and televisual genres; often relies on western colonial conceptions for its global imagination and marginalizes characters of color; and theorizes contemporary media spectatorship in its appeal to affect and eroticism. We do so believing Sense8 to be an important cultural interlocutor, not only with regard to the exploration of transgender representation but also questions of sexuality, race, and capital in the global present. However, we also share a conviction that the series’ potentiality still leaves substantial room for growth. We take a critical approach to our collective analysis, seeing in the series a glimmer of the kind of global utopian envisioning very much needed in our ceaselessly dystopian present. The first season of J. Whitney Houston's Millions: What Bobbi Kristina Brown May Leave
Whitney Houston’s Millions: What Bobbi Kristina Brown May Leave Behind and Who Stands to Gain Culture | By Matt Donnelly and Anita Bennett on February 19, 2015 Legal experts tell TheWrap who would be entitled to the family fortune following Brown’s death Updated on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 8:45 p.m. Bobbi Kristina Brown, daughter of late singer Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, died on Sunday, July 26 at the age of 22. Her untimely death came after she was found face-down and unresponsive in a bathtub at her Georgia home on Jan. 31, and spent months receiving medical care. Brown was the sole beneficiary of Houston’s fortune when the music legend died in 2012. For insight into the possible financial scenarios that could play out following Brown’s death, TheWrap spoke with an attorney who has reviewed a copy of Houston’s will, as well as a Los Angeles tax lawyer well-versed in dealing with celebrity clients and large estates. Whitney‟s Last Will and Testament Attorney Bruce H. Gaynes, of Georgia-based Kitchens Kelley Gaynes, P.C., has reviewed a copy of Houston’s will and explained its parameters. Drafted about 20 years ago, the will named Bobbi Kristina sole heir to the estate. But instead of inheriting Houston’s fortune all at once, the will stipulated that Bobbi Kristina would receive the money in a series of payments over nine years: 10 percent at age 21, a 30 percent distribution at 25 and the remainder at age 30. Bobbi Kristina, therefore, had only received the first payment in the distribution plan. -

Bobbi Kristina's Engagement Ring Is an Exact Replica of Kate
YAHOO! OMG DISCOVER YAHOO! WITH YOUR Login FRIENDS Bobbi Kristina’s engagement ring is an exact replica of Kate Middleton’s – minus a few carats, says expert By Kathleen Perricone | omg! from Yahoo! – Thu, Oct 11, 2012 12:53 PM PDT Update on October 12: Bobbi Kristina Brown's rep denies that the teen and Nick Gordon are engaged, but adds, "You have to watch the show!" --------------------------------------------------- It’s a ring fit for a princess! So it makes sense that it should decorate the fingers of both Kate Middleton and the daughter of the “Queen of the Night,” Whitney Houston. It was revealed today that Bobbi Kristina Brown, 19, is indeed engaged to Nick Gordon, who the late singer raised as her son. On Twitter, Bobbi Kristina posted a photo of the bling her 22-year-old beau gave her: a 15- carat sapphire stunner surrounded by 1.5 carats of diamonds that may look a little familiar … like the one that adorns the hand of Prince William’s wife! “It’s a definite copy of her ring,” Anthony Sarkissian of Premier Jewelry Lenders in Beverly Hills tells omg!. “The shape of the stone, the way it’s set, having it made in platinum, the thinness of the shank … it’s a carbon copy of [Kate’s ring].” [Related: Is Bobbi Kristina Brown engaged?] Bobbi Kristina’s is just a teeny bit smaller. Kate’s sapphire, which once belonged to Princess Diana, is 18 carats. The teen’s version could be worth anywhere from $50,000 to $100,000, depending on its oval-cut center stone. -

Whitney Houston and Trust Planning
Whitney Houston and trust planning News of the tragic death of Whitney Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, was accompanied by speculation about the family’s estate plans. Whitney Houston left her entire estate in trust for her daughter. Trust principal was to be distributed over a period of nine years—10% when Bobbi Kristina reached age 21, 30% at age 25, and the balance upon reaching age 30. This pattern of sequential trust distributions is a common one. It avoids overwhelming the heir with too much, too soon. As Bobbi Kristina was just 22 at her death, she had received only 10% of the trust assets. The size of the trust is unknown, but press speculation puts it at about $200 million. In the event Bobbi Kristina does not have a will, the trust assets are to be divided among Whitney Houston’s mother and two brothers. No word at this writing on whether there is a will, but it would be unusual for a 22-year-old to have done any estate planning. If there is no will, Bobbi Kristina’s father is her nearest relative, so he would be entitled to whatever is left (after paying final medical expenses) from her trust distributions. One final wrinkle is that Bobbi Kristina’s boyfriend, Nick Gordon, may try to claim that he is her husband. As her husband he would be entitled to a share of her estate, but not to a share of Whitney Houston’s estate. Gordon cannot make a claim of common law marriage, as such marriages are no longer recognized in Georgia. -
