Augustin Hadelich has established himself as one of the great violinists of his generation. He has performed with all the major American orchestras, and his increasingly numerous appearances in Great Britain, Europe and the Far East have earned him a phenomenal reputation. Critics praise his outstanding technique, the stringency and persuasiveness of his interpretations and his ravishing tone. Highlights of the 2020/2021 season include his debuts with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and the Zurich Opera Orchestra. As Associate Artist of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester he will be a guest in Hamburg again. In addition, engagements will take him to the WDR Symphony Orchestra, Dresden Philharmonic, ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. He follows invitations to the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Finnish Radio Symphony and Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne. In the spring of 2021, he will give a recital tour in Munich, Hamburg, Antwerp, Paris and other cities. In addition to his extensive concert activities in North America, he has performed worldwide with renowned orchestras such as the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Concertgebouworkest, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre National de Lyon, Orquesta Nacional de España, Oslo Philharmonic, Danish National Symphony Orchestra and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields. Engagements in the Far East have taken him to the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Singapore Symphony Orchestra and NHK Symphony Orchestra. He was Artist-in-Residence with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. He made his debut at the BBC Proms in 2016 and his debut at the Salzburg Festival in 2018. Hadelich's recording catalogue includes the concertos of Sibelius, Adès, Tchaikovsky, Lalo, Mendelssohn and Bartók, among others. In 2016 he received a Grammy Award for his recording of the "L'Arbre des songes" by Dutilleux. A recording of the 24 Caprices by Paganini was released in January 2018 by Warner Classics. In April 2019 his second album as exclusive artist of the label followed with the concerts of Brahms and Ligeti. On his recently released CD "Bohemian Tales" he combines Dvořáks violin concerto, recorded with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, and chamber music from Janáček and Suk. Augustin Hadelich, now an American citizen, was born in in 1984 to German parents. He studied with Joel Smirnoff at the in New York. Hadelich made a significant career leap in 2006 by winning the International Violin Competition in Indianapolis. Further awards followed: In 2009 he received the prestigious "Avery Fisher Career Grant" in New York. In 2011 he was honoured with a Fellowship of the Borletti-Buitoni Trust. In 2015 Hadelich won the Warner Music Prize, which was awarded for the first time, and in 2016 he received a Grammy Award. In December 2017 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Exeter (UK). The trade magazine "Musical America" elected him "Instrumentalist of the Year" in 2018. Augustin Hadelich plays a violin by del Gesù from 1744, known as "Leduc, ex Szeryng", on loan from the Tarisio Trust.
