The city of Leskovac is located where natural communications with intersection of all directions leading to the valleys of the Juzna Morava, Veternica, Jablanica and Vlasina rivers flow in or out. In the south of Serbia, in the region known for its natural beauties, fresh air and clean cold water, there is a centuries long tradi- tion in small fruit and mushroom picking. Valley is suitable for agricultural production especially for vegetable production. Agricultural potential of the region provides op- portunities for investment in capacities for production of healthy food. Since the total length of roads, 68% of roads are covered with modern road- way, of which belongs to the local road network 38.3% (152 kilometers). The number of passengers and goods loaded shows that Leskovac still not used sufficiently the advantages of their involvement in the railway system of the country, especially in terms of commodity transportation, and industrial area of Leskovac is not directly involved in the railway network over the ap- propriate number of industrial tracks. Water management infrastructure On the territory of the city there are five public water supplies, the total length of main feed is 87 km, 480 km of distribution network, with nearly 23,250 water connections, while the length of sewerage network is 125 km. On the territory of Leskovac are built twelve small reservoirs and 6 of them intended for irrigation and 6 to create solutions for chemical spraying of vineyards. 5 Human resources At the end of 2007, Leskovac was on the second place in Serbia by the absolute number of available workforce. Total number of unemployed people registered in the National labour market service was 20.922 Among that number, 14732 are medium skilled workers, 4907 low skilled workers and 567 high skilled with master degree. Total number of employees in the city of Leskovac is 26.914 in 2007. Enterprises, institutions, cooperatives and organizations count 20.733 employed persons. Private entre- preneurs and Independent activists employ 6181 persons. Potential for trace elements accumulation of the species Goniolimon tataricum (L.) Boiss.was estimated. Plant tissues of Goniolimon tataricum and associated soils were sampled from four sites in Serbia and Republic of Macedonia located on two different geological substrates (ultramafics and dolomites). The aims of the present study were to investigate the levels of P2O5, K2O, Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, Ni, Zn, Co, Cr, Cu, Cd and Pb in the soils and plant tissues of G. tataricum from these four localities. Soil samples collected from ultramafics contained elevated levels of almost all analysed trace elements and Ca/Mg quotients for the available fraction are close to 1. As for the dolomitic samples, they were characterized by elevated levels of Cd, Mn, Pb, Zn, Ca, and remarkably high Ca/Mg ratio.

Pešev² 1Faculty of Agriculture, 11080, Belgrade-Zemun, Republic of Serbia 2Faculty of Agriculture, 38219, Lešak, Republic of Serbia Corresponding author: [email protected] Original scientific paper Abstract: Morphometric parameters are used in order to study taxonomy, systematization, and to determine the race of honey bees. Large number of morphological parameters is studied both worldwide and in our country, so the honey bee has become the most studied insect with about 42 morphometrics, quantitative traits. In this paper, following biometric traits were identified: tongue length, front wing length, front wing width, cubital index, length and width of the third tergit, length and width of wax plate mirror, femur length, tibia length, length and width of basitarsus and the tarsal index. Samples of bees included in these studies were taken from the site Slavujevac, Strojkovce and Leskovac from honey bee colonies of good health condition and raised under the influence of natural selection. Based on the statistical and descriptive statistics methods, the total variability and variation coefficient for all individuals studied honey bee races were determined. Key words: honey bees, biometrics, Jablanica District Introduction In different areas of the world, under the influence of various environmental factors and during the evolutionary development of honey bees, different races with specific biometric traits appeared. These specific morphometric traits are used in their identification and classification.

  • Roma Rights Journal Examines the Impact of Conflict on Romani Populations in Modern Europe
    This issue of Roma Rights Journal examines the impact of conflict on Romani populations in modern Europe. As marginalised populations subjected to both random and very specific cruelties, Roma were viewed by warring parties with a mixture of ambivalence and contempt, and deemed to be communities of little consequence. As a consequence, ROMA RIGHTS Roma were also excluded from the peace-building processes that followed the conclusion of hostilities. JOURNAL OF THE EUROPEAN ROMA RIGHTS CENTRE In addition to situations where Roma were the direct targets of murderous aggression, or written off as collateral damage “caught between two fires”, articles in this issue also examine incidents where Roma actively took a side, and refute notions of Roma and Travellers as being “a people without politics.” The contributions in this issue address long-standing lacunae, for as long as Europe’s largest ethnic minority is rendered invisible and written out of the histories of Europe’s wars and conflicts; and excluded from the politics of reconstruction and peace-making, the continent’s self-understanding will remain fatally flawed. Letter from the Chairman DEAR FRIENDS OF CHF INTERNATIONAL: It has become a truism that we live in a world of increasing economic, political, and cultural interdependence. Yet recent events have forever shattered the glib celebration of globalization with stark reminders that in a world radically divided between haves and have-nots, we may be connected in ways that demand deeper, more humane acknowledgement. Touching on this theme, one of the great humanitarians of our time spoke forcefully of the “poverty of intimacy and spirit” paradoxically threatening those of us fortunate enough to live in more developed countries.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) conducted a bombing campaign against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY) from 24 March 1999 to 9 June 1999. During and since that period, the Prosecutor has received numerous requests that she investigate allegations that senior political and military figures from NATO countries committed serious violations of international humanitarian law during the campaign, and that she prepares indictments pursuant to Article 18(1) & (4) of the Statute. 2. Criticism of the NATO bombing campaign has included allegations of varying weight: a) that, as the resort to force was illegal, all NATO actions were illegal, and b) that the NATO forces deliberately attacked civilian infrastructure targets (and that such attacks were unlawful), deliberately or recklessly attacked the civilian population, and deliberately or recklessly caused excessive civilian casualties in disregard of the rule of proportionality by trying to fight a "zero casualty" war for their own side.
