Charlotte Shaff, The Media Push

Charlotte (Risch) Shaff graduated from Central University with a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in December 1993. She majored in Broadcasting and minored in Advertising. She was an intern at WUPW FOX 36 in Toledo, during college. After graduation, she worked in various departments at WZZM ABC 13 in Grand Rapids, Michigan before securing her then dream job in the Promotions department as a promotion producer and writer. After honing her skills in Avid editing and topical writing and producing she decided to head to a warmer destination. In August 1999, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona and took a producer position at the ABC affiliate, KNXV. After 3 years and an Emmy nomination for her promotional writing, she decided to pursue other opportunities outside of TV news.

After stints in media relations for the Fiesta Bowl, internal communications at the Maricopa County Department of Transportation and overseeing added value work for an advertising agency for Subway restaurants she decided to pursue a solo PR career in 2005. Using her diverse past experiences, she now helps local small business owners gain traditional and social media attention as experts in their industries. She is a WAHM (work at home mom), a former main contributor to a top local PR blog and speaks routinely on the benefits of PR and social media as an integral way to learn, share and educate others. Charlotte is married to John Shaff, PA-C and has two boys, Jake and Eric. She cares about her community and serves on the nonprofit #LoveUp Foundation Board and is active in her children's school PTO.

During her time at CMU she was actively involved in her sorority Alpha Gamma Delta, Moore Hall TV, and the Advertising Club, while also working at local restaurants as a server and bartender. She is proud to be a Michigander but loves living in Phoenix, Arizona where you never have to scrape sunshine off your windshield. Phoenix is home to many midwest transplants and most notably, Dan Majerle a fellow Chippewa and former Phoenix Suns player and current head men's basketball coach at Grand Canyon University.
