Unity of Harrisburg PP 10-14-18 SMP 6.Pdf Let’s Pray Begins – 11 am globalonenesssummit.org A Spiritual Center for Empowered Living “Scientific Mental Practice - 6” Emma Curtis Hopkins Rev Dan, Sr. Minister, Unity of Harrisburg October 14, 2018 Emma Curtis Hopkins “Teacher of Teachers” Taught 50,000 All 3 branches of New Thought Chapter 1 – Statement of Being Statement of fundamental principles, reminds us who we are “There’s Good for me and I ought to have it.” “I am the Royal Child of Good.” Experiencing/Realizing/Living our Most High Good Chapter 2 – Denials of Science Reject whatever might contradict our Truth, our Good “Our mind is as free as our courage to deny.” Chapter 3 – Affirmation of Science A-ffirm – Make Firm The Truth of our Most High Good “Our mind is as great as our courage to affirm.” Chapter 4 – Foundation of Faith Our relationship to the principles of our Most High Good “Your mind will demonstrate as much greatness as your courage to stand by your intention.” Let there be a firm mind in the chaos! Chapter 5 – The Word of Faith How to bring the 12 aspects of the Science of Spirit into our life experience. The 12 statements of the Science of Spirit: 1. Life 9. Joyous Song 2. Health 10. Efficiency demonstrating 3. Strength 11. Beauty of judgment 4. Support 12. Great Love 5. Defense 6. Perfect Thinking 7. Right Speech 8. Ability to record ideas Chapter 6 – Secret of the Lord Understanding Last chapter about us as individuals Denials have double effect 1. Releasing promptly 2. Making harmless immediately All the refuge of lies shall be swept away Then comes Prosperity Dr P P Quimby “Father of New Thought” Phineas Parkhurst 1802 - 1866 “You will get well, you are better off then you have been Imaging.” Understanding - “Spiritual understanding is the quickening of the Spirit within. There are two ways of getting understanding. One is by following the guidance of Spirit that dwells within, and the other is to go blindly ahead and learn by hard experience.” How do we access the Power of God? The Power comes through the words You will notice an increase in the Power flowing through you if you say: “Everything Good that happens to me is the demonstration of the Holy Spirit.” Only in the “Holy of Holies” Now the God Power lies within us Holy Spirit When one concentrates all the faculties on Truth ideas, the conscious mind and superconscious mind blend, and there is a descent of spiritual energies into soul and body. Then our faculties receive new power to express Truth and the body is renewed. Holy Spirit To be "filled with the Holy Spirit" is to realize the activities of Spirit in individual consciousness. The quickening of a man by the Holy Spirit is peculiar to each individual and must be experienced to be understood. Emma Curtis Hopkins Says: Holy Spirit is The Holy Mother or Feminine Aspect of the Trilogy All of God’s Spiritual Power is available for us How do we experience it? Recognize it Acknowledge it and soon we will realize it Start by giving Thanks He also taught: When experiencing darkest appearances – Give highest affirmation “My God, My God, how thou hast glorified me.” It will be the same for us, if we . persist in keeping the High Watch in our thoughts and spoken words – The Power will flow God’s Power can be called - Holy Spirit or Understanding This is why I never pray for anything of “this world” I pray for: The Faith of God The Understanding of God Experiencing the Presence Realizing/Feeling the Power Understanding is - Clearly seeing how the “works” are accomplished “ . but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:14 When there is a union of God’s mind and our mind - POWER The Mind of us is the Mind of God The Life of us is the Life of God The Soul of us is the Soul of God The Spirit of us is the Spirit of God There is a heart, a quickening secret to the teachings of Jesus Christ “The Secret of the Lord” The Secret is only revealed in Spirit and Truth sometimes repeating his name – Jesus Christ it takes us closer into his mind The Secret lies within the Mind of Jesus Christ “I understand the Secret of Jesus Christ” “We, by thinking of God, by whatever Name, understand All. Thinking of what we call God we are thinking of a Central Fire that will consume everything except itself; therefore as we feed the flames, we are all illuminated, inspired in some way. Let’s experience our Central Fire GOD NAMASTE.

  • Pentecostalism As Religion of Periphery: an Analysis of Brazilian Case
Pentecostalism as religion of periphery: an analysis of Brazilian case Dissertation zur Erlangung des akademischen Grades Doctor philosophae (Dr. phil.) eingerichtet an der Philosophischen Fakultät III der Humboldt Universität zu Berlin Von Master of Science Brand Arenari Präsident der Humboldt Universität zu Berlin Prof. Dr. Jan-Hendrick Olbertz Dekanin der Philosophen Fakultät III Prof. Dr. Julia von Blumenthal Gutachter: 1: Klaus Eder 2: Jessé Freire Souza Tag der mündlichen Prüfung: 12.12.2013 1 Abstract All the analyses we have developed throughout this dissertation point to a central element in the emergence and development of Pentecostalism, i.e., its raw material – the promise of religious salvation – is based on the idea of social ascension, particularly the ascension related to the integration of sub-integrated social groups to the dynamics of society. The new religion that arose in the USA focused on the needs and social dramas that were specific of the newly arrived to the urban world of the large North-American cities, those who inhabited the periphery of these cities, those that were socially, economically, and ethnically excluded from the core of society. We also analysed how the same social drama was the basis for the development of Pentecostalism in Latin America and, especially, in Brazil. In this country, a great mass of excluded individuals, also residents of urban peripheries (which proves the non-traditional and modern characteristic of these sectors), found in Pentecostalism the promises of answers to their dramas, mainly the anxiety to become integrated to a world in which they did not belong before. Such integration was embedded in the promise present in the modernity of social ascension.

  • The Eddy-Hopkins Paradigm: a ‘Metaphysical Look’ at Their Historic Relationship
The Eddy-Hopkins Paradigm: A ‘Metaphysical Look’ at Their Historic Relationship John K. Simmons Western Illinois University In her noteworthy quest to establish Emma Curtis Hopkins as the founder of New Thought, Gail M. Harley revisits the varying perspectives on the falling out between Mary Baker Eddy and Emma Curtis Hopkins.1 Hopkins’ departure from the Christian Science establishment is, indeed, a critical event in the development of New Thought because this gifted and inspired mystic went on to teach a veritable Who’s Who of New Thought leaders, including Annie Rix Militz of Homes of Truth, Malinda Cramer of Divine Science, Charles Fillmore of Unity School of Christianity and Ernest Holmes of Religious Science.2 Historians plumping the depths of early New Thought history are not entirely sure what prompted the break-up between Eddy and Hopkins; reasons range from financial disagreements, to Hopkins’ eclectic attitude towards religious truth, to Eddy’s own paranoia regarding suspected enemies out to steal her metaphysical revelations and take credit for them. From an academic perspective, all of the above are plausible, and likely a multi-fragranced ill wind blew the two highly charged personalities apart. Historical scholarship, however, can be limited by its own self-imposed, Newtonian hermeneutical framework. Characters are identified in any historical drama, events are analyzed, then logical assumptions are made and conclusions drawn in explaining past events. Understandably, historians using this time-honor methodology would chronicle the rich but short and seemingly dysfunctional relationship between these two talented metaphysical teachers using an interpretive framework that focuses on unique personalities with disparate agendas.

  • Happy Women's Day This Past Sunday We Celebrated All Mothers and Included All Women, Even Those Who Did Not Birth a Child This
May 13, 2020 Happy Women’s Day This past Sunday we celebrated all mothers and included all women, even those who did not birth a child this lifetime. We looked briefly into the history of human celebration of the masculine and feminine energy through philosophy and religion. Almost every society honored the power of harmony when both energies were recognized and balanced. That understanding stopped by Churchianity around 400 AD, when the church became the state government and the Bible was edited by all male priests. It was not until the mid-1800s when Mary Baker Eddy honored Father-Mother God that recognition of the feminine began to become part of our spirituality. Later, Emma Curtis Hopkins took it another step and recognized the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. She celebrated the feminine aspect of God as the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit. This viewpoint of the Divine is in alignment with eastern religions and the teaching of YIN and YANG. It is recognized that we can only begin to live in the Kingdom of Harmony as we recognize and then realize the balance of these energies within our being and experience the balance of the Tai Chi ball. KRIYA Yoga teaches a simple balanced breathing practice. I use this practice every day. Breathe in up to the forehead, breathe down the left side (IDA) to the base, breathe up the right side (PINGALA) to the forehead, breathe out and say to yourself, “Peace Be Still!” Take a moment to be the Peace.

  • Spiritual Law in the Natural World" Contains the Stepping Stones to Every Attainment the Heart Aspires To
Spiritually u/ IN THE ffatoral U/orld, BY " ELEVE. Author of "Life is Worth Living," "Drops of Gold," "Progress of the Pilgrim" etc., etc. THIRD THOUSAND. 1894: PURDY PUBLISHING CO., PUBLISHERS, McVicker"s Building, CHICAGO. \1 Copyrighted by Purdt Publishing Compant. CHICAGO. Printed by the Purdy Publishing Company, INTRODUCTION. When we read the written thoughts of an author we are able to tell by the feelings that stir us, irrespective of our con victions, as to what the independent power of the author must be. There are certain writings which convince us almost against our will that their premises and reasoning are right, yet we feel no uplifting, no healing of bodily or mental conditions from reading them. This indicates that the hearts of the writers did not burn within them while they wrote. Spirit ual Law ik the Natural World was the outspeaking of a heart that burned within the author, as the hearts of the two traveling from Emmaus ages ago, because her life had been spared, her strength renewed, her health restored, her hope revived by the teachings she records. Therefore we hear from every quarter of all this same minis try which this book has already wrought for many others also. Lionel Beale told Joseph Cook that what is now wanted is something to upset natural law. By "natural law" he meant the procession of undesirable phenomena to which our race seems to be subjected. What shall upset disease, starvation, hatred, pain, death, save the spirit of the "Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus, that maketh free from the law of sin and death?" He spoke what our world has long felt, viz., that we hunger and thirst for peace and safety, for health and sweet life, and realize that the methods so long in practice have sig nally failed to bring them.

I use this book daily and continue to learn from it. This is a must read for someone looking for lessons in practical Christianity. I give high praise to this book. There are many reasons it's been available to the public since 1890ish. Now in a reader-friendly edition comes the classic work of spiritual truth and understanding. Scientific Christian Mental Practice is the enduring work from one of the most influential teachers of the 20th Century. Used as a textbook in various Spiritual Centers around the world, this book is a masterwork of divine understanding and sacred living.
