Opening Statement Tom Fitton, President Judicial Watch Hearing of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee On Government Operations "Oversight of Nonprofit Organizations: A Case Study on the Clinton Foundation" December 13, 2018 2154 Rayburn House Office Building Good afternoon, I am Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch. Judicial Watch is a conservative, non-partisan educational foundation dedicated to promoting transparency, accountability and integrity in government, politics and the law. We are the nation's largest and most effective government watchdog group. Judicial Watch is, without a doubt, the most active Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requestor and litigator operating today. Thank you, Chairman Meadows and Congressman Connolly for allowing me to testify on this important topic. It is no secret Judicial Watch has had longstanding concerns with the Clintons' ethics and respect for the rule of law. So, it was with some skepticism that we greeted Hillary Clinton's promises ten years ago to avoid conflicts of interest with her Foundation and her husband's business activities as Secretary of State. 1 At the time, even CNN reported that Bill Clinton's "complicated global business interests could present future conflicts of interest that result in unneeded headaches for the incoming commander-in-chief." To reassure President Obama and Senators of both parties that she would be above reproach, Mrs. Clinton sent a January 5, 2009, letter to State Department Designated Agency Ethics Official James H. Thessin, stating: For the duration of my appointment as Secretary if I am confirmed, I will not participate personally and substantially in any particular matter involving specific parties in which The William J.

The Clintons’ Controversial Foundation by The Week Staff on June 27, 2016 Bill and Hillary Clinton's philanthropic empire has spent billions on good causes, but now faces questions about its finances. Here's everything you need to know: What does the Clinton Foundation do? It's an international philanthropy that mobilizes wealthy power players — individuals, corporations, and governments — to solve global problems. So far, the foundation has raised more than $2 billion for an eclectic range of programs, including fighting elephant poaching, improving schools here and abroad, and lowering the cost of AIDS drugs for 10 million people in 70 countries. Its financial model is simple: Converting Bill and Hillary Clinton's singular celebrity and influence into vast amounts of cash. It has succeeded spectacularly in that effort — but with poor transparency and many possible conflicts of interest. Some of the same foreign governments and corporations that donated to the foundation while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state also hired Bill Clinton to give speeches, and sought State Department approval for contracts and arms deals. The Clintons deny any wrongdoing, but many independent critics say the mixing of private and charity monies and apparent conflicts of interest are inexcusable. "It seems like the Clinton Foundation operates as a slush fund," says Bill Allison, a senior fellow at the Sunlight Foundation, a nonpartisan watchdog group. How did the foundation begin? As a way for Bill Clinton to fight off postpresidential boredom.

New Abedin Emails Reveal Top Clinton Foundation Executive Sought Diplomatic Passport from Clinton State Department. Judicial Watch By Judicial Watch Region: USA Global Research, September 05, 2016 Theme: Intelligence, Law and Justice Judicial Watch 1 September 2016 In-depth Report: U.S. Elections Judicial Watch today released 510 pages of new State Department documents, including a 2009 request by Clinton Foundation executive Doug Band for diplomatic passports for himself and an associate. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s aide Abedin responded to Band’s request positively, saying, “Ok will figure it out.” The emails show Hillary Clinton forwarding classified information to Abedin’s unsecured, non-state.gov account. The emails also show Bill Clinton sought a meeting with Mrs. Clinton for a major Clinton donor with State Department officials and Hillary Clinton herself pushed for a joint event with the Clinton Global Initiative. Band also pushed for and obtained special help from Abedin for seven-figure Clinton Foundation donor Chris Ruddy, of Newsmax.com. Although an exchange sent from Sidney Blumenthal to Hillary Clinton concerning the “disastrous nature of the Obama trip” and the U.S. being “totally out of the loop in Berlin – no ambassador” with the expectation that “Germans and Russians will now cut their own separate deals on energy, regional security, etc….” had previously published by the State Department, it was unknown until now that Clinton forwarded this exchange containing classified information that was redacted for security reasons to Abedin’s unsecure non-state.gov account The new documents included 37 Hillary Clinton email exchanges not previously turned over to the State Department, bringing the known total to date of such emails uncovered by Judicial Watch to 228 of new Clinton emails (not part of the 55,000 pages of emails that Clinton turned over to the State Department).

AMERICAN CENTER FOR LAW & JUSTICE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT QUARTERLY FOIA REPORT WINTER QUARTER | 2018 - 2019 A MESSAGE FROM CHIEF COUNSEL JAY SEKULOW Just over two years ago, I mobilized a dedicated team of attorneys and staff to launch our Government Accountability Project. This project aimed at shedding light on burgeoning corruption in the bureaucracy that controls our government agencies and implements our laws. We are fghting to hold this ever-expanding “Deep State” accountable to the American people. Thanks to your support, our efforts have been a resounding success. As part of this effort, we have issued more than ffty-one Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. The law requires government agencies to respond to these lawful requests. Yet, the bureaucracy fghts tooth and nail to protect its secrets, often refusing to comply with our requests or the law. So, we have been forced to bring them to account – in court. To that end, we have fled eleven federal lawsuits (two of which have been combined) against fve different bureaucratic agencies. We are fghting every day to expose the truth. Over the course of the last two years, we have exposed corruption, lawlessness, infuence peddling, and deception in our government. We have ensured that numerous Deep State bureaucrats are no longer in positions of power. We have dug into the Obama Administration’s funding of anti-Israel causes – including an attempt to unseat the government of Israel - exposed major corruption and collusion surrounding the infamous Clinton-Lynch tarmac meeting, and revealed the “purposeful” deletion of an offcial State Department briefng video to hide when the Iran nuclear deal negotiations began.

In June 2009, DK Consulting was founded by Declan Kelley. 1 Mr. Kelly served as COO of FTI Consulting until June 2009, when he stepped down and established DK Consulting. At that time, he also became the United States Economic Envoy to Northern Ireland. Pursuant to the terms of his exit agreement with FTI and consistent with the ethics agreement of his uncompensated special government employee appointment at the State Department, Mr. Kelly retained and continued to provide services to three paying clients (Coke, Dow, and UBS) and one pro bono client (Allstate). In late 2009, Declan retained me as a consultant to DK Consulting to help support the needs of these clients. 1 Mr. Kelly was one of Secretary Clinton’s top fundraisers in 2008, raising in excess of $2 million for her Presidential campaign; he also raised funds for her 2000 and 2006 Senate campaigns as well as for President Obama in 2008. In May 2011, Mr. Kelly resigned his Envoy position at the State Department.
