Our work respects and responds to each campus’ unique scale, style and culture. As we plan and design improvements to the schools, we carefully analyze not only the buildings on a campus, but also those important spaces in between. We seek solutions that are both timeless and inevitable, creating designs that may not look like they have always been there, but they will feel like they belong nowhere else. As learning and teaching styles continue to change, we know that we create spaces and places for learning that are flexible and agile and also keep the learner at the forefront. Likewise, those spaces that support artistic pursuits – be they visual or performing - should be designed to allow the creative process to flourish. 19 19 Loudoun Country Day School Calvert Lower School 20 Bryn Mawr School 21 Bryn Mawr School 22 Severn School 23 Bryn Mawr School Bryn Mawr School St. Paul’s Upper School 24 Severn School Severn School 25 Archbishop Spalding High School 26 Roland Park Country School Roland Park Country School The Barrie School 27 Roland Park Country School 28 McDonogh School Valor Christian High School Archbishop Spalding High School 29 Archbishop Spalding High School 30 Calvert School Garrison Forest School St. Paul’s Upper School 31 Vail Mountain School 32 Loudoun Country Day School Loudoun Country Day School Calvert Lower School 33 Loudoun Country Day School Archbishop Spalding High School 34 ATHLETICS Spaces that promote and support physical activities serve a vital role at schools. From facilities that support a residential program, to elements that represent the “soft tissue” between other campus functions, these spaces truly embody a school’s culture. Student life can be reflected in a student commons building, with a lounge in a library, or even in a quiet garden. All these spaces should reflect the school’s culture and traditions. These projects combine the awareness and respect for both the facilities that support education and the campuses upon which they sit. The need to analyze and synthesize information about the buildings and the site, as well as the ability to understand the subtleties of the different types of facilities, is best supported by our multi- disciplinary approach. 52 Bryn Mawr School St. Paul’s Episcopal School 53 St. Paul’s Episcopal School 54 St. Paul’s Episcopal School 55 Foxcroft School Garrison Forest School St. Timothy School 56 The Barrie School 57 Solebury School 58 Sewanee School 59 Jackson Academy 60 St. Paul’s School Jackson Academy Bryn Mawr School 61 St. Paul’s School 62 CLIENT LIST Alexander Dawson School Broadwater Academy Garrison Forest School Hilton Head Prep School Landon School Lafayette, Colorado Exmore, Virginia Baltimore, Maryland Hilton Head, South Carolina Bethesda, Maryland • Campus Master Plan • Campus Master Plan • Campus Master Plan • Campus Master Plan • Campus Master Plan • Innovation Center • New Middle School • New Lower School Concept Design Brookwood School Holy Angels Elementary School • Dining Hall • Upper School Math & Science Building • Entry Gatehouse Thomasville, Georgia Baltimore, Maryland • Learning Commons Renovation Archbishop Spalding High School • Campus Master Plan • Academic Renovations Loudoun Country Day School • Outdoor Classroom Severn, Maryland Leesburg, Virginia Bryn Mawr School Holy Innocents Episcopal School • Campus Master Plan Gilman School • New Campus Master Plan Baltimore, Maryland Atlanta, Georgia • New Athletic Center Baltimore, Maryland • New Lower & Middle School • Campus Master Plan • Campus Master Plan • Science & Technology Addition • Campus Master Plan • New Athletic Center • New Turf

  • Interfaith Families Project
Interfaith Families Project March 2004 www.iffp.net P.O. Box 5413, Takoma Park, MD 20913 [email protected] 301-270-6337 FROM THE BOARD Two Experiments At its February meeting, the Board approved two temporary alterations to our regular Sunday morning routine, each to occur once before the end of this year, if possible. The first experiment will be to cancel Adult Group one Sunday and have a brunch for adults in its place. The second experiment will be to reverse the regular schedule one Sunday. It will begin with the kids going to Sunday School while Adult Group meets. After Adult Group ends and before the kids rejoin their families, the Gathering will begin. Kids and teachers will then rejoin the larger community for a Family Gathering. After the Gathering, coffee and bagels will be available for half an hour. Details were left to the deliberative wisdom of Heather, Sherri, Larry Bostian (chair, Worship Committee), and Sam Lawson (guru, Adult Group). These experiments grow from the Board’s desire to respond to key challenges facing IFFP—none more important than finding additional ways for small groups of members to meet and explore shared interests. When IFFP was smaller, this happened naturally both at IFFP events and on the streets of Takoma Park. With a larger and more geographically diverse community, we need to cultivate different opportunities for natural community building. Complementing these two Sunday-morning experiments, the Board also discussed ways to encourage member-initiated events. We want to facilitate any member s who wish to invite others to join them in some activity.
