Three Offshore Outsourcing Programs

DoubleBridge outsourcing services comprise three different programs that allow our clients to lower IT services costs, while continuing to maximize the efficiency of their mission-critical operations.

DoubleBridge Development Centers in China allow our client to extend their IT organiza- tion through an experienced team that has both business domain and technical expertise. DoubleBridge can develop and operate offshore, client-branded facilities on a non-trans- actional basis using a build-operate-transfer model. All of our development centers have U.S.-based DoubleBridge business domain and technical resources, which provide high level business value and project management expertise.

Application Life Cycle Support allows our clients to off-load ongoing and often-tedious life cycle support, thus free internal IT resources to focus on key areas that are important for company’s competitive success, such as IT project design and innovation.

Offshore project services include custom application development, package integration, application integration, data warehouse, business process outsourcing, validating, and data quality. 5

Statistics show that many large companies throughout the world still rely on mainframe systems for strategic applications. These companies face rising costs associated with maintaining hardware and software applications on those systems.

By taking advantage of the topological similarities between mainframe and web-based systems DoubleBridge has developed a technology called D-Structure. This technology makes it possible to provide automatic migrations of mainframe applications to the web. Moreover, this technology supports all major commercial databases including Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Informix and Sybase. 7

The Value of an Offshore Development Center

Our offshore developing center will help you on your projects, with remarkably fast turn around time and proven quality standards, and especially the reduced costs. Our local (U.S.) senior technical management teams constantly oversee the projects to adhere to our clients requirements. Project Highlights

DoubleBridge leveraged the Documentum document management platform and developed a scalable and extensible regulatory archival and retrieval system. The system allowed the client to search and retrieve past regulatory filings. The system also accommodated a new business process to digitize the new regulatory filings before the paper is archived.

The project was designed and delivered within 6 months. The project team employed internal expertise in Documentum and J2EE, using best practices to ensure the system is easily customized to meet new business process requirements, as well as the increasing number of users. The entire design was well documented, making the deliverable easily validated to meet the FDA compliances. 13

Applet / JSP based front end, DoubleBridge made it possible for the user to keep using their existing experience gained from working with the legacy system for years. A smart cache mechanism was implemented to provide best performance on the client side. The new system can be deployed out-of-the-box or can be configured to meet specific needs; based on the technique that the Java Applet User Interface is dynamically generated with a Form Description XML file. The XML file can be easily customized by the end user. Back-end database fields can also be assigned in the XML file for each GUI control, which enabled the automatic data rendering through the Database Access Engine.

Benefit: There is almost no training needed for users of the legacy system to use this new system. Different organizations can customize the User Interface easily to meet their specific needs. As a result, this greatly increases the system usability. By using the three-tier application architecture, the users at different location within a global organization can operate on the same set of data concurrently. This eliminated the problem raised by the inconsistent data at different locations.

Benefits: The XML provides a detailed description of each submission. Using XSL transformation, the details were displayed in easily readable forms. In addition, the XML is text based, thus allowing a full text index to be built for each record and in turn making all legacy records fully text searchable.

Solution: The project team fit the source data into the target data structure by extending the attribute sets on the target system. The extended attribute sets were hidden from the user interface, but are searchable if the user chooses to search for legacy records. Benfits: Application user interfaces were not modified so they remained consistent and each record had content that was fully text searchable and allowed management to view the status of submissions in real time. Provided 24x7 support, management and performance tuning.

Solution: DoubleBridge implemented a multi-layered solution using a host of cutting edge technologies, including J2EE, Microsoft .NET, XML, and web services. The features provided by the legacy system were converted into a set of web services hosted on an IBM WebSphere Application Server cluster. This made it possible for multiple client applications to have high- speed concurrent access to the back-end system. The online account management application was built using Microsoft .NET technology (ASP .NET), which interfaced with the legacy system through the set of web services. It provided around the clock online account access to all customers, and allowed them to conduct transactions such as trading and funds transfer, which had to be done by calling customer service representatives. A host of other client applications were also created to take advantage of the newly built web services. For example, a field agent interface was built using the Java JSP technology to allow agents to file new policy applications online, and to check customer account information. Benefit: The annuity policy management system was a resource inaccessible to most other applications in the company. By exposing the capabilities of the system through a set of web services, the company was able to make 1 them available to a host of client applications. This resulted in improved customer and agent satisfaction, and ultimately improved financial bottom line.
