Qualifying Report 2021/6/19 Rd-4 Sports Land SUGO Weather:Rain Temperature:19℃ 19Cars Qualifying Report 2021/6/19 Rd-4 Sports Land SUGO Weather:Rain Temperature:19℃ 19cars Sportsland SUGO is located in the Tohoku region, where the rainy season will set in before long. As had been forecasted, the qualifying was held in the rain sequentially last round at Autopolis. As an exceptional case, at Sportsland SUGO whose track is long and narrow, top seven cars in each of A and B groups run at a time in QF2 just like QF1 to avoid traffic during attacks. In QF1, Makino in Grp A went on-track with new wet tires as soon as the course opened. He warmed up the tires lap by lap, and recorded the best time in the fifth measuring. He moved on to QF2 first. Fukuzumi in Grp B broke the top time every lap and made it through QF2 in first place in the group. In QF2, Makino in Grp A recorded the fastest time from the beginning as he did in QF1, however, he felt performance degradation of the rear tires during the attack lap. He finished in third for QF3. Just about QF2 for Grp B started, the rain got heavier. When Fukuzumi attacked carefully and became second, two cars went off-track and the red flag came out. It was restarted with 3 min remaining. Fukuzumi finished in second, however, since the car at the top was the one which caused the red flag condition and its time was deleted as penalty, Fukuzumi moved onto QF3 in first. In the following QF3, Makino, who felt lowering the grip force of the rear tires, changed to scrubbed wet tires. On the other hand, Fukuzumi had no trouble in tire performance, so he only adjusted the set-up without tire change and went on-track. The both drivers shortened their times in each section. Although their good records were expected, Makino finished in second by only 0.04 sec, and Fukuzumi ended up in fifth because his set-up did not meet the heavier rain. #5: Nirei Fukuzumi Position 5th (QF1 GrpB 1st, QF2 GrpB 1st, QF3 5th) 2nd among Honda users My time was pretty good from the start and I was in the lead, but I didn’t feel enough grip force. I was never uneasy about tires, so I changed the set-up for QF3. It didn’t turn out to be what I expected, however, I will still start from a good position to compete for a victory and it will be a dry condition race tomorrow. I will drive to win! #6: Tadasuke Makino Position 2nd (QF1 GrpA 1st, QF2 GrpA 3rd, QF3 2nd) 1st among Honda users My team had prepared an excellent car which had potential for taking the pole position, but because of my mistake, I became second by a narrow margin. Considering the last race at Autopolis, I am positive about my quickness in QF. It will be my first dry condition race with Dandelion Racing tomorrow. I am a little anxious, but I will fight well with the total team capabilities. Race Report 2021/6/20 Rd-4 Sports Land SUGO Weather: fine/Cloudy Temperature: 24℃, 19cars Audience: 2,600/19th (Sat.) 4,600/20th (Sun.) 7,200 total It was not anything like as rainy and cold as it was yesterday. On race day, the strong sunlight poured through the clouds and the temperature was going up. It is said that there lives an evil spirit in SUGO. The power relations of the drivers might be completely different from those in QF yesterday. Makino who started from the second grid in the front row dropped his position to fifth because acceleration had been weakened a little. On the other hand, Fukuzumi in the fifth grid got off to a hot start, and raised two positions up to third. He drove breaking the fastest lap time lap by lap and he won the intense competition for the second position in the First Corner. Makino raised his position in the high-speed technical corner. The both drivers kept driving steadily in line with the team’s strategies. When Sekiguchi, the leader, made a pit-stop, Fukuzumi used the overtake system and then made a pit stop on L18. The team finished rapid pit work in 7 sec responding to his performance, and Fukuzumi succeeded to go back on-track in front of Sekiguchi. Makino was taking the strategy of shortening time while forward of him was open, however, he was blocked by a slow car and lost time. He made a pit-stop on L24. When all the cars finished pit stops, Fukuzumi was going far ahead of the runner-up by more than 6 sec, and finally won his first victory of Super Formula. Makino won the close fight over 10 laps with Nojiri and finished in fifth with 6 points. #5: Nirei Fukuzumi Position 1st (1st among Honda users) In QF in the rain yesterday, I felt the gap between the leader and me. Today, in dry condition, I had a good feeling about my car and could focus on starting. My car was fast from the beginning, and when I competed for second in First Corner, I could raise my position while sideswiping the competitor. I could calmly deal with my pace and timing of pit-stop by frequent correspondence with my team. I lost races that I could have won until today, but I finally won the race, and my only feeling right now is gratitude to all the supporters. It is just a check point for me, so I will make use of this experience and the result for the next race. #6: Tadasuke Makino Position 5th (4th among Honda users) The surface condition of inside of the track was not good, so I dropped my position at the start. However, I maintained my pace considering the abrasion of tires and race development. There were difficulties in strategy choice and I found points to look back on and issues to be dealt with. It was the first dry condition race after my comeback, and I also realized my physical strain. My performance in QF was good, and overall, I could think positively through the weekend and it brought me one step closer to my goal. Please look forward to my performance in the next race at Motegi! .

PR Document 2020 Japanese Super Formula Championship Series Media Information August 27 2020 1 Super Formula : Then and Now In the 1950s, the Fédération Internationale de I’Automobile (FIA) launched the Drivers’ Championship to find the world’s fastest formula car drivers the purest form of racing machine. That ethos was passed on to all FIA national member organizations.Top-level formula motor racing has been held in Japan in various forms since 1973, when Formula 2000 was first launched. The competition evolved into Formula Two in 1978 and then Formula 3000 in 1987. Japan Race Promotion, Inc. (JRP) was established in 1995 and continued carrying the competition torch in 1996 under the name of Formula Nippon. In 2013, the name of the competition was changed again to Japanese Championship Super Formula and a bold plan was implemented to upgrade the race cars and lift the profile of the competition with the clear aim of spreading the appeal of Super Formula from Japan to other parts of Asia. Another hope was to turn the series into a third great open-wheel racing competition to go along with Formula One and IndyCar. The competition’s name was changed again in 2016 to Japanese Super Formula Championship. In 2017, BS Fuji began broadcasting live Super Formula races, giving many motorsport fans the chance to watch championship races on free-to-air television. In the early days, formula racing in Japan was led by top drivers such as Kunimitsu Takahashi, Kazuyoshi Hoshino and Satoru Nakajima, who later competed on the global stage in Formula One.

WELCOME BACK TO BAKU Dear friends, On behalf of Baku City Circuit, please let me welcome you to the third successive Formula 1 race weekend in Azerbaijan. Last year’s race in Baku was widely recognised as the most exciting and dramatic race of the year – if not the decade – by members of the media, teams, drivers and the global F1 fanbase alike. It truly was a race that had it all culminating in the most unexpected podium line up in many years. The fact that this historic race occurred under our new event title as the FORMULA 1 AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX filled us with an even greater sense of pride and satisfaction for a job well done. This year we once again welcome the world to Baku at the slightly earlier date of late April to bear witness to the awe-inspiring sight of F1 cars negotiating one of the fastest and most testing circuits in Formula 1. Baku City Circuit’s winding, narrow sequences, 90-degree turns and high-speed straights - all set against the breath- taking backdrop of Baku’s UNESCO-protected old city, magnificent skylines and beautiful seaside promenade - have proven to be a major challenge to the current F1 grid, resulting in last year’s spectacular outcome and many on-track altercations. We are very confident of a similar explosion of drama, speed and bravery occurring once again for the 2018 edition. Furthermore, the off-track entertainment will be bigger and better than ever before with world-class music, visual and conceptual artists once again performing all along the specially constructed Fan Zone all weekend.

Qualifying Report 2021/5/15 Rd-3 AUTOPOLIS Weather:Rain Temperature:19℃ 19cars 2021 Super Formula Rd3 was going to be held at Autopolis, the only international circuit in Kyushu. It was forecast for rain on both QF day and the race day. Especially QF day, heavy rain was expected in the afternoon, so knock-out QF was changed to 40min-single-stint format. Makino, who had been absent because of poor health, came back here to the competition for the championship. His performance in the rain was greatly anticipated. QF session started 20 min late due to the bad weather, however, a red flag came out because of a crash right after. When the session was restarted, Fukuzumi started to attack with new tires at a good timing. Only 8 min after the restart, a red flag came out for the second time because of a car spun. It was restarted with 27 min remaining, and both Fukuzumi and Makino went on-track with new wet tires. This time it was Fukuzumi who caused the third red flag condition. He ran on to a curb and went off the track in the last sector while attacking. When QF restarted again with 21 min remaining, the rain got heavier. Under the sevier condition for shortening laps, a crash occurred and a red flag came out for the fourth time. As soon as the session restarted with 15 min remaining, the rain got even heavier, and finally QF was over. Fukuzumi was penalized for causing a red flag, and his QF record was deleted.

Race Report 2019/5/19 Rd-2 Autopolis Weather: rain/cloudy Temperature: 20℃, 20cars Audience: 2,450/18th (Sat.) 3,700/19th (Sun.) 6,150 total Qualifying Rd2 Qualifying at AUTOPOLIS, which had been postponed to Sunday morning due to the heavy rain and the strong wind, was held as 40-min time trial. The weather was as bad as yesterday, or rather worse. Considering the risks of red flag interruption, the two cars of DOCOMO TEAM DANDELION RACING went on-track as soon as QF started, and tried to attack after warming tires carefully. However, Yamamoto went off the course because of the wet surface during the warm-up lap. His car was damaged and stopped, and caused a red flag condition. After his car was removed, QF was restarted. After that, the red flag came out three times because of the cars out of the course. Fukuzumi could attack at efficient timing in such a difficult situation, and recorded the third best time to get a good position for the race in the afternoon. Yamamoto’s start would be tough from 17th grid. Race AUTOPOLIS was hit by heavy rain the whole weekend. Somehow, it stopped before the race, and the start was in dry condition. Fukuzumi who started from 3rd place kept his position firmly and finished the opening lap. On the other hand, Yamamoto from 17th place came into the pits on Lap1 to change to soft tires, aiming for the top in a strategy for driving through 53 laps with good fuel efficiency and tire management.
