  • MEDIA INFORMATION 2015 Japanese Championship SUPER FORMULA
MEDIA INFORMATION July 14, 2015 Japan Race Promotion Inc. July 18 (Saturday) – July 19 (Sunday) 2015 Japanese Championship SUPER FORMULA Round 3 : Fuji Speedway Japan Race Promotion Inc. (President: Hiroshi Shirai, Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan) today announced details of the “2015 Japanese Championship SUPER FORMULA, Round 3 Fuji Speedway,” scheduled to take place on July 18–19 at the Fuji Speedway Circuit (length = 4.563km) in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. The 2015 Japanese Championship is the only internationally accredited driver championship series in Asia, run over seven rounds and six circuits across Japan. Points accumulated by drivers during the season determine the final rankings. A total of 11 teams (entrants) and 19 drivers (cars) have entered this year’s Japanese Championship. Spectators have the chance to enjoy a domestic competition with world-class levels of racing, featuring seven top drivers from six countries (UK, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Brazil and India), driving cars with the same cornering speeds as the top Formula 1 racing cars. Fuji Speedway is a challenging course with a long back straight that allows drivers to reach speeds of more than 310km. The course also has high-speed corners that will test the limits of the race cars and a double apex corner in the final section that requires advanced driving technique. Drivers, cars and tires will also be affected by the high temperatures at this time of year. On what is likely to be a hot day, the course will put the concentration, stamina and mental strength of drivers to the test and make conditions tough for the turbo-charged engines, which generate much more heat than naturally aspirated engines.

PR Document 2020 Japanese Super Formula Championship Series Media Information August 27 2020 1 Super Formula : Then and Now In the 1950s, the Fédération Internationale de I’Automobile (FIA) launched the Drivers’ Championship to find the world’s fastest formula car drivers the purest form of racing machine. That ethos was passed on to all FIA national member organizations.Top-level formula motor racing has been held in Japan in various forms since 1973, when Formula 2000 was first launched. The competition evolved into Formula Two in 1978 and then Formula 3000 in 1987. Japan Race Promotion, Inc. (JRP) was established in 1995 and continued carrying the competition torch in 1996 under the name of Formula Nippon. In 2013, the name of the competition was changed again to Japanese Championship Super Formula and a bold plan was implemented to upgrade the race cars and lift the profile of the competition with the clear aim of spreading the appeal of Super Formula from Japan to other parts of Asia. Another hope was to turn the series into a third great open-wheel racing competition to go along with Formula One and IndyCar. The competition’s name was changed again in 2016 to Japanese Super Formula Championship. In 2017, BS Fuji began broadcasting live Super Formula races, giving many motorsport fans the chance to watch championship races on free-to-air television. In the early days, formula racing in Japan was led by top drivers such as Kunimitsu Takahashi, Kazuyoshi Hoshino and Satoru Nakajima, who later competed on the global stage in Formula One.

  • PRESS RELEASE Magneti Marelli Motorsport: Achievements of 2012
PRESS RELEASE Magneti Marelli Motorsport: achievements of 2012 In 2012, Magneti Marelli supplied its technologies to several winning teams, among which the world champions of the Formula 1, WRC and MotoGP championships. In 2012, Magneti Marelli was again alongside the main motorsport teams as they came to victory in the most important world competitions. Specifically, this year Magneti Marelli provided support to the teams in the achievement of the following victories: drivers’ and constructors’ titles in Formula 1, drivers’ and constructors’ titles in the WRC (World Rally Championship), rider’s title in the MotoGP, drivers’ and constructors’ titles in the IRC (Intercontinental Rally Challenge). Thanks to the partnership with different teams, Magneti Marelli was at the top of the podium even in the Superbike World Championship, in the AMA SBK (American Superbike Championship), in the GP2 and GP3 series, in the FIA GT, DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters), WTCC (World Touring Car Championship) and GT WEC (World Endurance Championship), as well as in the Indycar and Le Mans Series. Magneti Marelli’s leading technologies once again played the starring role in world motorsport. These include the KERS (system for the recovery of kinetic energy under braking), the electronic engine control units, the injectors, and the data acquisition and telemetry systems. These results drive Magneti Marelli to develop yet more new technologies to use during the upcoming seasons, such as, for example, the ERS system developed for the some top motorsport competitions, which combines the recovery of kinetic energy under braking with the energy generated by exhaust gases. The other technologies include, specifically for Formula 1, a two-way WI-FI data transmission system from vehicle to infrastructure (e.g.: race car-pits), and injectors and pumps for GDI engines with operating pressures up to 500 bar.
