Points Player Ireland came into this tournament with high expectations after winning the Under 20s Six 63 Patrick Lambie Nations Championship earlier this year but lost all three games in a difficult group against South Africa France, England and Argentina. They comfortably beat Samoa 37-10 in the semi final play offs, 54 Tyler Bleyendaal including two tries by 18 year old winger ANDREW BOYLE on his debut. This match is a repeat of the 2008 play off for 9th place, when Ireland beat Scotland 39-12. The man in the middle GARRATT WILLIAMSON of New Zealand is the referee for this match, his fourth of the 2010 IRB Junior World Championship. He took charge of Ireland’s 36-21 defeat to England and has yet to show a yellow card in the tournament. Only New Zealand have a higher second half percentage. • Conceded 25 tries in 14 matches played, the second lowest of all teams competing in this year’s tournament behind New Zealand with 10. • 80% of tries scored against Ireland have been converted (20 out of 25), a higher percentage than against any other team along with New Zealand (8 out of 10). • Only scored 40.8% of their points in the first half of matches, the second lowest percentage of the 12 teams competing after New Zealand. • Not scored any drop goals in competition history.
