Manly Council ollowing the success of the 2009 and 2010 editions of the Guide, it is with great pleasure that we present the 2011 Seniors and Care Guide. The aim ofF this publication is to help you access a wide choice of services and activities appropriate for seniors in your local area. It covers a range of topics including leisure activities, health services and home support. The Guide has been developed as a joint project between Manly, Pittwater and Warringah Councils and the publisher, Seniors & Care Guide. In today’s fast paced world relying on family members can be difficult. Work and family commitments often mean time is limited or not available at all. In response to this common dilemma, Councils have taken ‘on board’ the responsibility to provide useful information guides to help seniors, and their families and carers, Harvey Rose with decisions that may need to be made now or in the future. Mayor Pittwater Council We acknowledge that many of the services, programs and activities listed in this Guide would not be possible without the huge amount of time and effort provided by local volunteers. We extend our warm and sincere thank you to the many volunteers for helping to provide much needed services which contribute to the health, vibrancy and social cohesion of our communities. We trust this Guide will encourage you to explore the range of local services and activities available, which in turn, may assist in maintaining your independent lifestyle. The many and varied social activities will help you stay connected with your community, neighbours and friends. We urge you to read on. We feel confident that you will be enticed to try something new! Yours in good health, Michael Regan Mayor Warringah Council Seniors & Care Guide 2011 3 7(/(3+21(,17(535(7(56(59,&( ,I\RXZRXOGOLNHLQIRUPDWLRQRQ7(/(3+21(,17(535(7(56(59,&(\RXUORFDOVHUYLFHVULQJWKH7HOHSKRQH,QWHUSUHWLQJ6HUYLFHVRQDQG DVNWREHFRQQHFWWR&RPPRQZHDOWK&DUHOLQNZKRSURYLGHIUHHLQIRUPDWLRQ ,I\RXZRXOGOLNHLQIRUPDWLRQRQ\RXUORFDOVHUYLFHVULQJWKH7HOHSKRQH,QWHUSUHWLQJ6HUYLFHVRQDQG DVNWREHFRQQHFWWRĮĤãĻöïƇĮðĹåŃðňĚáƇŇöġĜĥð&RPPRQZHDOWK&DUHOLQNZKRSURYLGHŎìƉĻìŌöąƇƊĬðĹĄƇƟŌäƊĬðŌģĞąƇōģêƟŌĚăƇIUHHLQIRUPDWLRQŎìĭëĻáįĥîƇƐƇ $5$%,& ʼníĻïƇōģêŃðƟĬĚáŬƇʼnĦĥðĭģèƇƣ ʼníĻïƇōģêĮħĠáĬĦïƇ ĮĤãĻöïƇĮðĹåŃðňĚáƇŇöġĜĥðŎìƉĻìŌöąƇƊĬðĹĄƇƟŌäƊĬðŌģĞąƇōģêƟŌĚăƇĮħñĬǥƇƊĬðŌģĞąƇōģêňĚùöæİħä ŎìĭëĻáįĥîƇƐƇ $5$%,& ʼníĻïƇōģêŃðƟĬĚáŬƇʼnĦĥðĭģèƇƣ ʼníĻïƇōģêĮħĠáĬĦïƇ ĮħñĬǥƇƊĬðŌģĞąƇōģêňĚùöæİħä Ⱁ㨫㎂䩴拢㌷㇢⦿䤓㦜┰庆㓢䟄幬全䟄幬♲幠㦜┰尐㻑懻㘴 &+,1(6( &RPPRQZHDOWK&DUHOLQNⅴ噆㈦⏜忈䤓忓帾ᇭ Ⱁ㨫㎂䩴拢㌷㇢⦿䤓㦜┰庆㓢䟄幬全䟄幬♲幠㦜┰尐㻑懻㘴 &+,1(6( &RPPRQZHDOWK&DUHOLQNⅴ噆㈦⏜忈䤓忓帾ᇭ ƢƑĬĤçŴǞĥĠģáŋĤãĻáĽœƣĻæŋàŴĹœƑƣĬŔàįæƏŋàƊĬêŭèƇƏŌåǞģùðƊĬðĹåƢƑĬàƑƏĹŔòƇŌúŔðĻśƇ )$56, ŋàƇƑĬĤçŋnjĹŔòƇŌúàĬĦñǡƒƇƣĹŔĥnjŊĠģá&RPPRQZHDOWK&HQWUHOLQNŴĹòĹŔðŋőƇƑƇơĬŕœƇƑƊĬêŭèƇŋnj ƢƑĬĤçŴǞĥĠģáŋĤãĻáĽœƣĻæŋàŴĹœƑƣĬŔàįæƏŋàƊĬêŭèƇƏŌåǞģùðƊĬĹĥĥnjňŖðĹåƢƑĬàƑƏĹŔòƇŌúŔðĻśƇƣƢƑĬĤç )$56, ŋàƇƑĬĤçŋnjĹŔòƇŌúàĬĦñǡƒƇƣĹŔĥnjŊĠģá&RPPRQZHDOWK&HQWUHOLQNŴĹòĹŔðŋőƇƑƇơĬŕœƇƑƊĬêŭèƇŋnj ĹĥĥnjňŖƣƢƑĬĤç .XQJJXVWRPRQJLPSRUPDV\RQWXQJNROVDL\RQJPJDVHUELV\RQJORNDOWDZDJDQDQJ7HOHSKRQH ),/,3,12 ,QWHUSUHWLQJ6HUYLFHVVDDWKLOLQJLQQDLNRQHNNDVD&RPPRQZHDOWK&DUHOLQN .QDQDXQJJXVWRPRQJJELELJD\QJOLEUHQLPSRUPDV\RQWXQJJLPSRUPDV\RQNROVDL\RQJPJDVHUELV\RQJORNDOWDZDJDQDQJ7HOHSKRQH ),/,3,12 ,QWHUSUHWLQJ6HUYLFHVVDDWKLOLQJLQQDLNRQHNNDVD&RPPRQZHDOWK&DUHOLQN QDQDJELELJD\QJOLEUHQJLPSRUPDV\RQ :HQQ6LH,QIRUPDWLRQHQEHU,KUH|UWOLFKHQ(LQULFKWXQJHQHUKDOWHQP|FKWHQUXIHQ6LH GLH7HOHSKRQH,QWHUSUHWLQJ6HUYLFHV 7HOHIRQ'ROPHWVFKHUGLHQVWH XQWHUGHU1XPPHU *(50$1 :HQQ6LH,QDQXQGODVVHQIRUPDWLRQHQEHU,KUH|UWOLFKHQ(LQULFKWXQJHQHUKDOWHQP|FKWHQ6LHVLFKPLW&RPPRQZHDOWK&DUHOLQNXQWHUGHU1XPPHUUXIHQ6LH YHUELQGHQXPVLFKNRVWHQORVLQGLH7HOHSKRQH,QWHUSUHWLQJ6HUYLFHV 7HOHIRQ'ROPHWVFKHUGLHQVWH XQWHUGHU1XPPHUIRUPLHUHQ]XODVVHQ *(50$1 DQXQGODVVHQ6LHVLFKPLW&RPPRQZHDOWK&DUHOLQNXQWHUGHU1XPPHU YHUELQGHQXPVLFKNRVWHQORVLQIRUPLHUHQ]XODVVHQ ǹȞșȑȜİIJİʌȜȘȡȠijȠȡȓİȢȖȚĮIJȚȢIJȠʌȚțȑȢıĮȢȣʌȘȡİıȓİȢIJȘȜİijȦȞȒıIJİıIJȘȞȊʌȘȡİıȓĮ *5((. ȉȘȜİijȦȞȚțȒȢǻȚİȡȝȘȞİȓĮȢıIJȠțĮȚȗȘIJȒıIJİȞĮıĮȢıȣȞįȑıȠȣȞȝİIJȘȞ ǹȞșȑȜİIJİʌȜȘȡȠijȠȡȓİ&RPPRQZHDOWK&DUHOLQNıIJȠʌȠȣʌĮȡȑȤİȚįȦȡİȐȞʌȜȘȡȠijȠȡȓİȢȖȚĮIJȚȢIJȠʌȚțȑȢıĮȢȣʌȘȡİıȓİȢIJȘȜİijȦȞȒıIJİıIJȘȞȊʌȘȡİıȓĮȢ *5((. ȉȘȜİijȦȞȚțȒȢǻȚİȡȝȘȞİȓĮȢıIJȠțĮȚȗȘIJȒıIJİȞĮıĮȢıȣȞįȑıȠȣȞȝİIJȘȞ &RPPRQZHDOWK&DUHOLQNıIJȠʌȠȣʌĮȡȑȤİȚįȦȡİȐȞʌȜȘȡȠijȠȡȓİȢ 6HGHVLGHUDWHLQIRUPD]LRQLFLUFDLVHUYL]LQHOODYRVWUD]RQDWHOHIRQDWHDOVHUYL]LR ,7$/,$1 G¶LQWHUSUHWDULDWRWHOHIRQLFR 7,6 DOQXPHURSHUIDUYLFROOHJDUHDOµ&RPPRQZHDOWK &6HGHVLGHUDWHLQIRUPD]LRQLFLUFDLVHUYL]LQHOODYRVWUD]RQDWHDUHOLQN´DOFKHIRUQLVFHLQIRUPD]LRQLJUDWXLWHOHIRQDWHDOVHUYL]LR ,7$/,$1 G¶LQWHUSUHWDULDWRWHOHIRQLFR 7,6 DOQXPHURSHUIDUYLFROOHJDUHDOµ&RPPRQZHDOWK &DUHOLQN´DOFKHIRUQLVFHLQIRUPD]LRQLJUDWXLWH ߽ߒ߅߹ߩၞߩࠨࡆࠬߦ㑐ߔࠆᖱႎ߇ᔅⷐߥ႐วޔ㔚ㅢ⸶ࠨࡆࠬ㔚 -$3$1(6( ߦ㔚ࠍߒޔ&RPPRQZHDOWK&DUHOLQN㔚ߦߟߥߢ߽ࠄ߃߫ޔή ᢱ߽ߢߒ߅ᖱႎ߇߹ߩၞߩࠨࡆࠬߦᓧࠄࠇ߹ߔޕ 㑐ߔࠆᖱႎ߇ᔅⷐߥ႐วޔ㔚ㅢ⸶ࠨࡆࠬ㔚 -$3$1(6( ߦ㔚ࠍߒޔ&RPPRQZHDOWK&DUHOLQN㔚ߦߟߥߢ߽ࠄ߃߫ޔή ᢱߢᖱႎ߇ᓧࠄࠇ߹ߔޕ ╏㔶㦮G㰖㡃G㍲゚㓺㠦G╖䟊㍲G▪G㧦㎎䞲G㩫⽊⯒G㤦䞮㔲ⳊG㩚䢪G䐋㡃GXZXG[\W㦒⪲G㩚 .25($1 䢪䞮㎪㍲GjGjG㩚䢪GX_WWGW\YGYYY⪲G㡆ἆ䞮㔲ⳊGⶊ⬢⪲G㩲Ὃ ♮╏⓪G㩫⽊⯒G㠑㦒㔺G㑮G㔶㦮G㰖㡃G㍲゚㓺㠦G╖䟊㍲G▪G㧦㎎䞲G㩫⽊⯒G㤦䞮㔲ⳊG㩚䢪G䐋㡃GXZXG[\W㦒⪲G㩚㧞㔋┞┺U .25($1 䢪䞮㎪㍲GjGjG㩚䢪GX_WWGW\YGYYY⪲G㡆ἆ䞮㔲ⳊGⶊ⬢⪲G㩲Ὃ ♮⓪G㩫⽊⯒G㠑㦒㔺G㑮G㧞㔋┞┺U 6LGHVHDLQIRUPDFLyQVREUHVHUYLFLRVHQVXORFDOLGDGOODPHDO6HUYLFLR7HOHIyQLFRGH 63$1,6+ ,QWpUSUHWHVDO\SLGDTXHOHFRPXQLTXHQFRQ&RPPRQZHDOWK&DUHOLQNWHOpIRQR TXHEULQGDLQ6LGHVHDLQIRUPDFLyQVREUHVHUYLFLRVHQVXORFDOLGDGOODPHDO6IRUPDFLyQJUDWXLWD HUYLFLR7HOHIyQLFRGH 63$1,6+ ,QWpUSUHWHVDO\SLGDTXHOHFRPXQLTXHQFRQ&RPPRQZHDOWK&DUHOLQNWHOpIRQR TXHEULQGDLQAustralian CommunicationIRUPDFLyQJUDWXLWD Exchange (ACE) Phone: 1800 555 677 tXXXBDFJOGPOFUBVt-PHBO3E 4UPOFT$PSOFS ACE relays messages for people from their TTY to a connecting line and relays typed messages, then listens to the reply and types it back to you.
