Peter Marr, our Chair, is a very fast parkrunner and Wilma Roest, a trustee, also runs faster than me! Running in the park is just lovely and a group of us then have breakfast at the café at Pembroke Lodge. I was really unwell with COVID in March 2020. I could only walk a few metres when I came out of hospital but was determined to take exercise and gradually built up my distance. Me and the Mayor of Richmond upon Thames, Cllr Geoff Acton after the Kew I took part in the London Marathon 2.6 Gardens 10K challenge a few weeks after I came out of hospital and achieved my target of walking 2.6K. However, I did raise £14,000 for Kingston Hospital Charity. My first run 5K, after Covid, was in June and I was elated. In September I ran a 10K in Kew Gardens with my daughter. I am convinced that having good lungs from running helped to save my life. I will return to parkrun after Lockdown.
