To Naturalization Petitions, Alexandria Index to Naturalization Petitions, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Virginia, Alexandria, 1909-1929 The Alexandria Library, Special Collections has in its microfilm collection the Naturalization Petitions filed in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Virginia, Alexandria, 1909-1929. Coverage includes: Arlington; Fairfax; Fauquier; Loudoun; Prince William; and Stafford Counties; City of Alexandria; City of Fairfax; City of Falls Church; City of Manassas; and City of Manassas Park. This microfilm is from the National Archives and Records Administration (RG 21, M1648) and consists of five reels of film. The petitions contain a wealth of information including the petitioner's date and place of birth, date and port of entry to the U.S., petitioner's occupation, spouse's name, etc. This project was implemented by Special Collections staff member Rita Holtz, who extracted the following information from the petitions: petitioner's name, country of origin, date of naturalization, document number, reel number, and miscellaneous notes. Many of the persons whose records are included were soldiers from all over the United States who were stationed at Camp Humphries, now Ft. Belvoir, and naturalized in three special sessions of the Court held at that location. There are 354 residents of the area included. These entries are generally more informative as we included the initial Port of Entry (POE) to the U.S. There is also greater variety in the spelling of surnames and a higher incidence of the adoption of new surnames. By the several acts enacted by Congress, between 1907 and 1922 a native born American woman who married an alien derived her husband's (foreign) citizenship and after 1922, had to apply to regain her American citizenship. There are several women included in this index for whom that condition applied. It should be noted that the petitions were microfilmed in 1990. There are quite a few persons indexed here who repatriated to their respective homelands voluntarily some decades later or who lost their citizenship for various reasons which are specified and are often quite interesting. See the notes section. Prints of the petitions from the microfilm of the persons whose names appear here are available. Last Name First Name Country of Date of Naturalization Reel Doc. • Tragic Downfall of Antony in Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra
Bilecik Şeyh Edebali Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü Dergisi Makale Geliş (Submitted) Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University Journal of Social Sciences Institute Makale Kabul (Accepted) 24.08.2019 DOİ: 10.33905/bseusbed.610180 05.12.2019 Tragic Downfall of Antony in Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra Abdullah KODAL1 Abstract Although there have been lots of debates about the reason of downfall of the great Roman general Antony, there is exactly one forefront reason in his destruction, it is Cleopatra herself. Her subversive power over Antony together with her manipulative and seductive power leads to the gradual breakdown of the male protagonist Antony and his destruction at the end. Thus, to understand all aspects of his downfall as one of the triumvirs of the great Roman Empire, we have to know exactly, who Cleopatra is and the role she played in Antony’s downfall as a woman. Shakespeare’s Cleopatra even today regarded by some as the source of beauty and by some as the source of manipulation but the common point for most people; it would not be possible to describe her within the limited definitions of woman in patriarchal society and one would need more than these, at least, for Cleopatra. Regarding the different approaches and criticisms about the downfall of the protagonist Antony, my aim in this article is to show how Cleopatra as an outstanding female model in ancient ages led to the downfall of the male protagonist of Shakespeare’s play the great Roman general Antony by using her special feminine characteristic features such as her beauty, her tempting words and speeches and also her seductive wiles against patriarchal assumptions that leads her to being condemned as a femme fatale.

  • ANTONIE Is Een Verkorting Van ANTONIUS ------Door Dries Van Den Akker S.J
Feest 17 januari. Antonius is rond 251 in Egypte geboren.
