Sherlock Holmes Silver Set Devised by British author and doctor Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes is a fictional detective of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He first appeared in publication in 1887. A brilliant London-based detective, Holmes is famous for prowess at using logic and astute observation to solve cases. He is perhaps the most famous fictional detective, and indeed one of the best known and most universally recognisable literary characters.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote four Sherlock Holmes novels and fifty-six short stories The first coin features a colour featuring his creation. Almost portrait of Holmes with his all were narrated by Holmes' trademark "deerstalker" hat and friend and biographer, Dr. John Meerschaum pipe. H. The Hound of the Baskervilles Possibly the best-known of the Holmes stories.

Born of a poor settlers family, Ned soon graduated to a career of crime. Accused of the murder of a trooper in 1878, Ned and his brother Dan, along with mates Joe Byrne and Steve Hart took to the bush with a reward on their heads. The ambush and killing of three more troopers at Stringy Bark Creek saw the reward raised to £2000 and the Kelly Gang became one of the most notorious group of outlaws the colonies had known. The Kelly’s “Last Stand” took place at the Glenrowen Hotel. Wearing heavy armour crafted from farm equipment, the Kelly Gang holed up in the hotel. Dan Kelly, Byrne and Hart were killed by police in the gun battle but Ned was saved from death by his suit of armour. He was returned to Melbourne where he was tried and sentenced to death by hanging. A petition signed by some 60,000 failed to have his sentence commuted but Ned Kelly went to meet his maker on November 11, 1880.

Since that time the take of the Kelly Gang has been immortalized in art, literature and film, with Ned clad in his armour, guns blazing, perhaps the single most recognized image of Australian history.

This 4-coin Collection remembers Ned Kelly and the wild days of the late 1800’s. Struck by the Perth Mint these four One Ounce 99.9% Pure Silver Proof coins chronicle the life and times of Kelly and his gang of bushrangers. The themes are Outlaw, Armour, Siege and Gallows and the reverse of each coin is finished in vivid colour to enhance the appealing designs.

Each collection is presented in a wooden case with an 8 page booklet incorporating the certificate of authenticity. Accompanying each set is a Free limited edition Ned Kelly Print. Struck by the Perth Mint for Tuvalu and limited to just 4 1,880 Sets worldwide. ly Silver Proof Set

Numerous proposals were put forward and debated and in late 1910 the Australian Notes Act was passed. The Government was anxious that the legislation should take effect immediately and a new branch of the Treasury was formed to handle printing. However, the problem was that considerable time would be required to obtain sufficient banknote paper, engrave printing plates then print and number the notes. To implement the Act and more importantly issue an Australian Currency that could circulate freely in all states, the Government purchased unused notes from the private banks, and overprinted them ‘AUSTRALIAN NOTE’ and a promise to pay the bearer in gold on demand. Such notes became known as superscribed notes and were issued until the new printing plates and facilities were available in 1914. Original stock from a number of private banks were used, one of the Banks being The National Bank of Australasia, whose form is used for the £1 Superscribe we offer. This bank was founded in Melbourne in 1857 and is now part of the National Australia Bank. Perhaps due to the complexity of the 1910 Superscribe issues they are not included in McDonalds, however, Renniks does provide quite detailed and interesting reading. Considering that these notes are the first official issues of the new Commonwealth Government they should be included in all Predecimal listings and collections. Meanwhile, astute buyers can pick up these very scarce and important issues for relatively modest sums. Rest assured, that when they finally appear in catalogues like McDonalds, their price will rise dramatically. This example has excellent colour and nice body. It has very good eye appeal. There are a few edge tears which is typical for this issue as the paper used was not of the standard of later issues. Over the last couple of years there have been very few of these important notes on the market. A great opportunity to obtain what is, in reality, Australia’s first Commonwealth banknote issue. The per capita disposable income of urban residents in China rose from 343 yuan in 1978 to 11,795 yuan in 2006 – an increase by 34 times! Olympic Flame representing China’s great success in hosting the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. At the closing ceremony of the Games, the president of International Olympic Committee (IOC) Jacques Rogge declared the event a “truly exceptional Games”. And the Games were a source of national pride for China. Astronaut representing China’s great achievement in space technology. Ariel 100 Square Four Ariel, like many of the pioneering motorcycle companies, was building bicycles before they started manufacturing motorcycles in 1902. Founded just outside Birmingham in Selly Oak, UK, by Charles Sangster, the company began producing single cylinder machines by Val Page. Page, along with Edward Turner and Bert Hopwood, is considered one of Britain's three greatest motorcycle designers. Brough Superior SS 100 Although George Brough produced several memorable exotic motorcycles such as the Austin engined four with twin rear wheels and the Golden Dream, it is for the model SS 100 that the marque is remembered by most enthusiasts. Probably the best-known Brough Superior devotee was Colonel T.E. Lawrence, "Lawrence of Arabia". Between 1922 and his death in 1935, Lawrence owned seven Broughs, of which six were model SS100s.

1938 IZH 8 The IZH is a well-known producer of weapons (the most famous example being the "Kalashnikov" submachine-gun). However, they were also the main Russian motorcycle factory during the Soviet era, with even greater production than IMZ-Ural. Soviet motorcycle production was second only to that of Japan, so in terms of output alone (11 million bikes since 1927), IZH ranks as one of the great motorcycle makers. Matchless Silverhawk Matchless was one of Britain's earliest motorcycle manufacturers, starting with French made engines clipped on to bicycles in 1899. Matchless built its own motorcycles from 1902. It took over AJS in 1931 and in 1938 reconstituted itself to form Associated Motor Cycles (AMC). Many models were produced after that with AJS or Matchless badges, but with few differences. Matchless made a V-four called the Silver Hawk.

BSA Sloper One of the great brands, BSA actually began as a gun trades union in 1854, when 14 Birmingham gunsmiths grouped to sell arms for the Crimean War effort. In 1861 they decided to form a public company, and found a site on Small Heath for their factory, opening in 1863. BSA started building bicycles and bicycle components in the 1880s and followed with motorised bicycles in 1903. 13 William Bligh Selectively Gilt $2 This new release from the Pitcairn Islands features the Captain of the HMAV Bounty, Lieutenant William Bligh. Listed as vulnerable under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, and having been at times endangered and threatened, the population of Yellow-Footed Rock Wallabies is now in a slow but stable recovery pattern. It is programs undertaken by authorities and conservation organisations in New South Wales and South Australia that have made this recovery possible. Available in Proof and Frosted Uncirculated qualities, collectors are sure to jump at this opportunity. The One Ounce Proof is limited to just 20,000 coins whilst the One Ounce Frosted Uncirculated coin has an open mintage. 2255 Australian Sealife Series The Silver Proof Lionfish Australian waters host some of the most famous reef systems in the world. From spectacular tropical corals to towering forests of kelp, these dynamic environments are teeming with aquatic life. Celebrating the extraordinary array of creatures supported by Australia’s diverse marine habitats, this new silver coin series depicts five fascinating reef dwellers, commencing with the Lionfish. They are notable for their extremely long and separated spines, and have a generally striped appearance, red, green, navy green, brown, orange, yellow, black, maroon, or white. The lionfish is one of the most venomous fish on the ocean floor. Lionfish have venomous dorsal spines that are used purely for defense. When threatened, the fish often faces its attacker in an upside down posture which brings its spines to bear. If a human is envenomed, that person will experience extreme pain, and possibly headaches, vomiting, and breathing difficulties. Subsequent releases will depict a Leafy Sea Dragon, Clownfish, Seahorse and Moray Eel. Scheduled for individual release between September 2009 and May 2010, each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1/2oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality. Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coins’ reverse portrayals feature stunning applications of vivid colour. The Perth Mint will issue no more than 10,000 Lionfish coins and no more than 10,000 of each subsequent coin in the series. Yet the ‘sunburnt’ country has a remarkable record in snow and ice. Australia has competed at the Games since 1936, medalled at every event since Lillehammer 1994, and is the only Southern Hemisphere nation to have won gold. For good reason, Australian interest in the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games is already red-hot. Accomplished at aerial skiing, moguls skiing, skicross and snowboarding, our latest team has a great chance of adding to Australia’s impressive medal tally. This official commemorative coin represents a well- deserved tribute to all our 2010 Australian Olympic team members who have won the right to compete in Canada next February. Bearing a reverse design approved by the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC), it is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality. Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, it comes in a stylish presentation case and illustrated box-shipper. The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of these official commemoratives. $97.50 Cook’s Cottage 2009 1 Oz Silver Proof Cook’s cottage was built in Yorkshire, England in 1755. In 1933 the owner of the cottage decided to sell with the condition that the cottage remained in England. The highest bid of £800 was made by Australian philanthropist Russell Grimwade and the terms of sale were extended to include “the empire”. The cottage was deconstructed brick by brick and packed into 253 cases and 40 barrels. These were shipped on the Port Dunedin and upon arrival in Melbourne the cottage was painstakingly reassembled in Fitzroy Gardens. Grimwade donated the cottage to the people of Victoria for the centenary of settlement of Melbourne in October 1934. It is the oldest building in Australia and an important link to one of the world’s greatest explorers - Captain Cook. This unusual square Silver commemorates the 75th anniversary of the reconstruction. It measures 33.2 by 33.2 mm and contains One Ounce of Pure Silver.
