Team Points the High Point University men’s basketball team. The Panthers 1. Winthrop (30) 300 posted their second-straight 20-win season in 2015-16, going 2. Liberty 236 21-11, and claimed their fourth-straight Big South regular season 3. UNC Asheville 227 title with a 13-5 conference record. Unfortunately, a series of 4. Gardner-Webb 218 injuries late in the season (John Brown, Adam Weary) left HPU 5. High Point 182 shorthanded and eventual champion UNC Asheville eliminated 6. All-Conference “This is going to be a group effort this season,” head coach Scott Cherry said. “The one thing everyone keeps saying is that First Team this is a rebuilding year and I don’t think that is an appropriate Keon Johnson, Winthrop term. I know a lawyer who'd love to retire and be an assistant coach. I mean, it's fun. The best way to stop the problem of agents would be for the NCAA to come down hard and suspend a school for two years if it finds players with agents on campus.

Whereas, the men's basketball program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) warrants recognition and a commendation for its outstanding record of excellence; and Whereas, on April 5, 1993, the student athletes on the men's basketball team won the 1993 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Championship by defeating the University of Michigan by a score of 77-71; and Whereas, this championship is the third NCAA Division I title for the UNC- CH men's basketball program; and Whereas, the excellence of the UNC-CH men's basketball program is further exemplified by the many banners decorating the Dean Smith Student Athletic Center that reflect past team accomplishments; the numerous individual and team performance records; the numerous honors, awards, and other recognitions received; and the many thousands of loyal Tar Heel fans; and Whereas, these accomplishments reflect favorably on the remarkable athletic program at the University; and Whereas, members of the UNC-CH men's basketball program under Head Coach Dean Smith and his coaching staff have excelled not only on the basketball court, but off the basketball court as well; and Whereas, going into the 1992 season, student athletes and team managers
