MEDIA MAKE -UP BTEC

Welcome to the Media Makeup Department at FutureSkills at MediaCityUK The resources in this pack with help prepare you to start your course in September and give you an understanding of some of the techniques and skills you’ll need to be a successful Media Make-Up Student. Please follow our Instagram account @mediamakeupfutureskills and use the #NewStudentFace to share your creations with us. Please bring this work and your photos along to enrolment, we'd love to see what you’ve done. Your pack is broken down into 2 tasks. Each task has several steps to follow to complete it. The process of researching and designing your look is essential to a fantastic final look.

During this episode, the contestants are set two challenges. 1. To create a ‘historic’ look based on a decade from the 20th Century 2. Research and Plan a look based on Your favourite song.

You will follow in their footsteps and take on these challenges yourselves

Task 1: HISTORICAL LOOK

• Chose which decade you will like to base your look on • Create a moodboard of images from this decade you find inspirational • Design and plan your look by completing a face chart. You can use makeup or pens, paint, fabrics to help show off your inspirations • Apply the makeup and send us a photo Don’t forget to share your photos with us on Instagram @mediamakeupfutureskills using #NewStudentFace

Task 2: SONG INSPIRATION

• Chose which song you would like to use as your inspiration • Write 200 words outlining why you have chosen this song and how you think it could inspire a makeup look. • Design and plan your look by completing a face chart. You can use makeup or pens, paint, fabrics to help show off your inspirations • Apply the makeup and send us a photo

Here is a short video to show you how to complete a Face Chart: https://youtu.be/aLdg9RnpESI And our teams’ tips on how the best design on to your Face Charts: 1. Don't use too much product, 2. Use cotton wool pads as an eraser if it goes wrong, or you want to blend the product out. 3. Use translucent powder on the paper for blending, 4. Tippex is great to create a cut crease 5. Experiment & have fun!
