QMS — SCOTCH ASSURED (SA) Animals offered for sale as Scotch Assured (SA) are warranted by the vendor as having complied with QMS Certification Standards including having been born and reared on farm assured holdings in Scotland. A database exists which ensures the history of all animals born after 1st January 2004 can be checked. For animals born prior to this date the data on the assurance history of individual farms is incomplete. Animals sold as Farm Assured (FA) are only warranted by the vendor as being offered for sale from a Farm Assured Holding. QMS 13 DAY STANDSTILL — MARKETS Livestock moving off a market or returning home unsold will always trigger a 13 day standstill on that holding, (20 days for pigs), unless for slaughter or if another specific exemption applies. The use of approved Separation Facilities (agreed in advance with SGRPID) may allow movement to and from sales without affecting other stock on the holding. It is the consignor’s responsibility to ensure that movements comply with current legislation. Further information is available from SGRPID, Thainstone Court, Inverurie. Agricultural Staff 01467 626222. Animal Health : 01467 626610. THE CATTLE PASSPORT ORDER 1996 Consignors should note that Cattle Passports are required for ALL ANIMALS BORN AFTER THE 1st JULY 1996 The Passports must be traded with the animal and the relevant sections must be completed after each movement. Vendors are reminded they are responsible to Purchasers for the correctness of Passports. Please ensure that this completed and signed Movement Document together with the relevant passports travel with the animals to Market. It is the responsibility of all purchasers to check all documentation. Any Purchaser finding incorrect Documentation should notify the Auctioneers by 5 pm on the fourth day following the day of purchase otherwise the Auctioneers will not involve themselves in any dispute which will lie solely between Vendor and Purchaser CATTLE IDENTIFICATION REGULATIONS 1998 (AS AMENDED) Cattle born after 1st January 1998 require to be double tagged with a Primary and a Secondary Tag. The Secondary Tags can either be another Primary Tag, a Button Tag or a Metal Tag. In the case of a two-piece eartag both pieces must be intact and bear the Ministry Logo.

Amongst its many goals, HDDT is committed to helping our community be as active and healthy as possible, as well as reducing the impact of our carbon emissions. The Huntly Green Travel Hub is a key outlet for helping achieve these goals, through our community car share and e-bike hire scheme. There are three vehicles for use in our car club and 14 (soon to be 24) electric bikes for hire. We are also focusing on several other travel related projects, including creating safe routes to school, electric vehicle charging points and path network development. For the last two years, HDDT’s work in this area has been supported by Paths for All’s Smarter Choices, Smarter Places (SCSP) Open Fund. The fund aims to encourage people to change their behaviour to walk or cycle as part of their everyday short journeys. In that time, we have seen our car club and e-bike usage rise significantly. With government targets to stop production of all new petrol and diesel vehicles by 2030, coupled with the Scottish Government announcement of £500 million to active travel projects over the next 5 years, this is a very exciting and rapidly growing sector.

EXCURSIONS AND NOTES. MOST of the members of the Club know Bennachie, or, if they don't, they ought to be heartily ashamed of themselves. In my opinion, no one should be admitted to membership who has A WINTER DAY ON not been on the top—in fa-ct, on all the tops— BENNACHIE. of Bennachie. I admit I have a peculiar liking for Bennachie, that "King of common hills". But to our tale. My friend and I left Aberdeen with, the 8.5 a.m. train on New-Year's Day, and in due course arrived at Pitcaple. We spent little time in the vicinity of the station, for there was nothing very attractive—everything appeared to be wrapt in slumber. We were at the Maiden Stane and into the Woods of Pittodrie in a comparatively short time, the morning wind making our ears tingle. But what a refreshing and invigorating effect it had as compared with what we had felt in the city! We had not gone far up the hill road when snow began to make its appearance, at first in little patches; but very soon we found that the road was practically snowed up, while here and there the snow had been blown into beautiful, fantastic shapes. The surface of the snow was, on the whole, quite hard, but occasionally we found our- selves on a soft bit, where we floundered, sometimes disappearing almost out of sight, until we got on to the hard snow again. On arriving at the Oxen Craig we had a remarkably good view in some dii'ections; the hills to the north were white from top to bottom.

  • THE PINNING STONES Culture and Community in Aberdeenshire
THE PINNING STONES Culture and community in Aberdeenshire When traditional rubble stone masonry walls were originally constructed it was common practice to use a variety of small stones, called pinnings, to make the larger stones secure in the wall. This gave rubble walls distinctively varied appearances across the country depend- ing upon what local practices and materials were used.
