NHL BROADCAST DEAL WITH ROGERS Overview In November 2013, the National Hockey League and Rogers Communications announced a landmark 12-year, $5.2-billion national broadcast rights and multimedia agreement in Canada. The deal, beginning with the 2014-15 season, includes all national rights to NHL games on all platforms in all languages. This marks the first time in history a North American professional sports league has granted all of its national rights to one company long-term. In addition to regular-season games, Rogers has exclusive broadcast rights to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Stanley Cup Final, NHL All-Star Game, NHL Draft Lottery, NHL Draft and NHL Awards. Sub-Licensees As part of this agreement, Rogers announced that CBC has been granted a sub-license for English-language broadcasts of Hockey Night in Canada and that TVA has been granted a sub-license to carry all national French-language multimedia rights. About the NHL and Rogers Scotiabank Wednesday Night Hockey: At least one Canadian team will be featured in 35 Scotiabank Wednesday Night Hockey games, including nine all-Canadian matchups and nine doubleheaders throughout the season. Hockey Night in Canada: Hockey Night in Canada will feature a minimum of four games each Saturday night, delivering more than 150 Saturday games throughout the regular season. The schedule features more than 20 all-Canadian matchups featuring all seven Canadian teams. Sunday Night Hockey / Hometown Hockey: The newest national night on the NHL schedule, 25 games will be broadcast on Sundays from a different community rink in various towns across Canada. The broadcast will feature local NHL player profiles, grassroots stories and local entertainment features. Rogers NHL GameCenter LIVE™: Canadians will receive more than 1,000 NHL games, including, for the first time, live streams of national games on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Beginning in early 2015, fans with a RNGCL and TVA subscription can watch live French broadcasts of 189 national games. Mark Messier (English Canada) and Luc Robitaille (French Canada) are spokesmen. Regional Broadcast Rights: Sportsnet is the official regional television broadcast rightsholder for the Calgary Flames (including radio rights on Sportsnet 960 THE FAN); Edmonton Oilers; Toronto Maple Leafs (including radio rights on Sportsnet 590 THE FAN; rights are shared 50/50 with TSN); and Vancouver Canucks.
