WEATHER ADVISORY BY PMD/FFD MONSOON RAINS / WIND-THUNDERSTORM PREDICTED IN UPPER AND CENTRAL PARTS OF PAKISTAN FROM WEDNESDAY (EVENING) TO FRIDAY (31st JULY TO 02nd AUGUST 2019)

Pakistan Meteorological Department, Islamabad has issued Weather Advisory on the latest Hydro- Meteorological prevailing conditions. The Advisory says:

" Monsoon currents presently active over lower parts of Pakistan are expected to weaken during next 24 hours. However, Strong Monsoon Currents from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are likely to penetrate into upper parts of Pakistan from Wednesday (evening/night) (31st July, 2019). A Westerly Wave is also likely to interact with monsoon currents on Thursday and Friday (1st August & 2nd August 2019). Under the influence of this weather system, PMD has predicted as under:

 Widespread rains/wind-thunderstorm (with isolated Heavy to Very Heavy Falls) are expected in Islamabad, Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha & Faisalabad Divisions) (Hazara, Malakand, Peshawar & Mardan Divisions) and Kashmir from Wednesday (Evening/night) to Friday (31st July to 2nd August, 2019).

 Scattered rains/wind-thunderstorm (with isolated Heavy Falls) are also expected in Punjab (D.G.Khan, Multan & Sahiwal Divisions) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Kohat, Bannu, D.I.Khan Divisions), (Zhob Division) and Gilgit Baltistan during Thursday and Friday (1st August to 2nd August 2019).

 The Predicted Heavy falls may generate flash flooding in Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, D.G.Khan Divisions), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Hazara and Malakand Divisions) and Kashmir, while urban flooding in Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad Divisions) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa () during Thursday and Friday (1st August to 2nd August 2019). Possibility of landslide in Malakand, Hazara Divisions, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir cannot be ruled out during the aforementioned period.

With above likely Hydro-Meteorological situation in view, all concerned authorities are advised to remain ALERT, watch the weather situation critically and take all necessary precautionary measures to avoid loss of precious human lives and damage to private & public property.
