On Saturday, September 19th, the Friends of the North End celebrated their 43rd annual re- union at the Sons of Italy Hall in Winchester. This year’s reunion was attended by 180 North Enders and was dedicated to Joseph “Dom DiMaggio” Campochiaro. Dom was a friend, coach and mentor to practically all in attendance. Much of his memorabilia was on display and provided an oppor- tunity to conjure up many stories, fond memories of Dom and a cherished privilege of growing up in a very unique neighborhood.

Friends of the North End Annual Fall Bocce Tournament by Victor Passacantille

The Friends of the North End Annual Bocce Tournament got under way on Sunday, Septem- ber 20th, at the outdoor courts in the North End. Thirty mem- bers took part in the annual event. Commissioner Sam Viscione and his assistant Charlie Marino arrived early to groom the courts and set the schedule of matches. Victor Passacantilli was on hand to throw out the first pollino which signaled the start of a new sea- son. The FRIENDS will continue to play matches through the fall with six teams vying for the (Photo by Arthur A. Lauretano) 2015 fall championship. Page 16 BOSTON POST-GAZETTE, OCTOBER 2, 2015
