Host’s friend Skip Klarquist, a retired attorney, doesn’t have a dog, he just borrows one as need- ed, or wades out to get his ducks. He likes that it is low-key. Members must be invited, and their guests are make to feel welcome. Charlton balks at the term “customer service” — she’d rather treat people like friends. Hunters also come in the summer, out of sea- son, and train their dogs or retrievers in and out of the ponds that the sisters’ father built for that purpose.
