Before we get to the Class of 2013 honorees, you should know that this is by far the hardest list we do and it gets tougher every year. The Frosh 59 list is tough because we don’t yet know the athletes, but is made easier because so few freshmen are making significant contributions on the varsity level. Picking All Americans is tough because so many have become exceptional players and deserve recognition for what they’ve accomplished in state; yet, having seen them both high school and club, we have an idea about how to distinguish the truly exceptional from the merely exceptional.
The Soph 79 list stands in the middle, which is why it is such a massive project. On the one hand, we are still getting to know these athletes. On the other, they are already making their marks on high school varsity programs across the nation.
Like last year, the Soph 79 is massive once again, thanks to incredible talent. That may explain why it took more than one month to complete this year, even with two contractors helping me write narratives. Whew!
Of the players listed below, the first 79 are our “Soph 79,” in our estimation the top sophomores based on high school achievement in the land. I have bolded those five words because being on the Soph 79 does not mean you are one of the top 79 recruitable players in the class. You may be, but that’s not what this list is for.
This list recognizes outstanding high school varsity achievement. Period. If you made a significant impact on your high school team and state and we learned about you, you are on this list. Otherwise, you may not be. So, if you were hurt and hardly played, like St. Charles East’s Erienne Barry, or you transferred schools or found yourself on JV or a varsity bench, don’t look for your name below. You won’t find it. Not this list. Not this year. You had to achieve on a high school varsity squad to make it.
In addition to the Soph 79, you will find five sub-categories for the remaining super sophs, from “Highest Honorable Mention,” which has 70 players; all the way to “Honorable Mention,” which has 65. (Incidentally, I count about a dozen in the HM category who would be considered among the top 100 recruitable athletes in the class, currently).
We also list 94 players for whom we needed more information. As emails trickle in about these players, we will add them to our lists, though not to the Soph 79.
Remember, AND NEVER FORGET, this recognition is based solely on High School Achievement, not club acclaim, college potential or reputation. Please appreciate the distinction between “high school achievement” and where a player might rank as a recruit for the next level. I say this every year, but moms, dads and coaches have a way of forgetting that, especially when the Top 50 Juniors list, which is a recruiting list, comes out next December and their Soph 79 daughter is not on it.
Have we missed some? Undoubtedly. We try our best, canvassing high school and club coaches across the country numerous times over a several-month period, but some worthy sophomores always fall through the cracks. We rely heavily on coaches to tell us who the top sophomores are and, when they don’t deliver, players are sometimes omitted or the information on them is incomplete at best. In several instances below, we reached out to coaches specifically to supply us with more information about their players only to be met with stony silence. We apologize in advance for any oversights or errors in the information below.

The 2010 SOPH 79!!
Emmy Allen, 6-1 OH, Jackson (Mill Creek, Washington) – Named First Team All-Wesco and the only underclassmen to be named First Team All Area by the Everett Herald, Jackson was a key contributor on the Timberwolves’ state 4A title team in 2010. She was at or near the top of her team in kills (309; 3.51 per set), digs (222; 2.52 per set) and aces (86). “Emmy was our most consistent hitter this season,” said head coach Ashley Allen. “We relied on her to be a steady head. As a sophomore I felt she handled the role very well, and did not cave once under pressure. She is also our most consistent passer, and we really gave her a lot of responsibility in serve receive. The most important skill I believe Emmy possesses is the ability to elevate the play of those around her. With any team she is on, they play better because she is on the court. When we would scrimmage in practice, it was rare that Emmy's team ever lost; we have a team full of great players, so that means she was ‘on’ all the time.”
Shelley Anderson, 5-10 S/RS, Chino Hills (California) – A standout for the CIF Div. II-AA finalists, Anderson hit and attacked in a 6-2 offense for a 31-6 team in 2010. Named First Team All League, she finished her sophomore campaign with 494 assists, 206 kills, 205 digs and a team-leading 83 aces. “She was invaluable to our team’s tremendous success,” said coach Dana Buzzerio.
BreElle Bailey, 6-4 MB, Lehi (Utah) – The two-year starter, Region 7 MVP and Salt Lake Tribune First Team Class 4A All State averaged 10 kills per match and hit .321 on the season for Lehi. “BreElle is an outstanding athlete,” said head coach Jamie Ingersoll.
Amanda Benson, 5-6 Libero, Xavier College Prep (Phoenix, Arizona) – Widely regarded as the state’s best sophomore libero and perhaps the best in any class, Benson anchored the back row for the Gators, who won another 5A-I state title in 2010. On the year, Benson had 491 digs, an average of 4.1 per set, and 627 receptions while passing at a 2.31 clip. She added 57 aces and was named First Team All Region and First Team All State by the Arizona Republic. “Amanda is the spark plug for the team,” said

coach Tim McHale. “She sets the tone for matches the minute she steps in the gym. Amanda looks for ways to improve her skills and pushes herself to be the best at her position, which translates into her ability to play defense with reckless abandon while still maintaining absolute precision. Her dedication to detail also is responsible for making her so dangerous as a passer on the floor.”
Jill Bergeson, 6-0 OH, Friendswood (Texas) – Bergeson stuffed the stat sheet in 2010, registering 610 kills, 615 digs, 136 blocks and 48 aces for a regional finalist team in 2010. A 10-foot toucher, Bergeson is as good in the back row as she is slamming balls down at the net. She earned All District and All State honors.
Brooke Betts, 6-1, MB, Bishop Hartley (Columbus, Ohio) -- Betts, was an all-Ohio Division II first-team pick and helped Bishop Hartley win the CCL championship for the second year in a row. Betts also was a Central Catholic League first-team choice and a Central District first-team selection. Betts was the only sophomore to earn all-state first-team honors in the state of Ohio. She finished the year with 363 kills, 69 aces and 72 blocks.
Erin Bognar, 6-1 OH, Westminster Christian (St. Louis, Missouri) – First Team All State in Class 3, Bognar recorded 338 kills in 80 games played in 2010, a total that put her just outside the top 10 in the St. Louis Metro area for kill average. Bognar added 2.88 digs per game, 31 aces and 29 blocks. Also a primary passer, the physical Bognar led Westminster to the Elite 8 in class 3A.
Jackie Bowman, 6-1 S/RS, Brentwood (California) – An All California Interscholastic Federation Division III-A First Team selection and a two-year starter, Bowman helped lead her school to the state semifinals. She ran a modified 6-2 for Brentwood, setting from the back row and playing on the right in the front. She also hit from the left side. Bowman was her team’s leading blocker and was second in kills with 310. “Jackie had a huge impact for us this year, especially in the CIF playoffs,” said head coach Jeff Porter. “I truly think she's got to be among the top 50 sophomores in the country.”
Rianna Brennan, 5-10 RS, Los Gatos (California) – Selected her league’s outstanding sophomore, this southpaw helped the Wildcats to a 10-2 record, second only to California Division I champion Palo Alto. Brennan led Los Gatos in kills with 236 and added 143 digs, 24 blocks and 45 aces.
Katherine Broussard, 5-7 OH, Metairie Park Country Day (Metairie, Louisiana) – Considered the best sophomore in the state, Broussard repeated as state tournament MVP for Country Day, which won another title in Division V last fall. District MVP and All Metro MVP as well as an All State performer, this great athlete led Country Day with 13 kills, 16 digs and two aces per match for a 43-4 team. “She is an amazing player to coach and an even better person to have in our program,” said Julie Ibieta. “She is a role model on the court and in the classroom.”
Lauren Carlini, 6-0 S/RS, West Aurora (Aurora, Illinois) -- Carlini finished the season with 179 kills, 205 assists and 27 aces for a West Aurora team that won 22 matches and finished 9-5 in the competitive DuPage Valley Conference. Carlini ranked first in the state in kills per set for sophomores and fifth in assists per set according to one statistical service. She was the only sophomore listed on the Chicago Tribune all-state honorable mention team and the Chicago Sun-Times all-state second team. Carlini was named the honorary captain of the Daily Herald’s DuPage bureau all-area team. “Lauren is an incredible athlete as well as an incredible young lady,” said West Aurora coach Kari Nicholson.
Emily Clemens, 5-10 S, Lindenhurst (New York) – A do-it-all player for her team, Clemens stuffed the stat sheet by setting, hitting, blocking and serving effectively for Lindenhurst, which won County and Regional championships in 2010. Clemens was named League POY, All County Elite 8, All-Long Island and First Team All State Class AA after averaging 22.assists, 15 kills, six aces and six blocks per match.
Abby Cole, 6-5 MB, Grand Haven (Michigan) -- Cole blasted home 486 kills and had a .390 hitting percentage to go with 224 total blocks. Cole earned first-team all-region and all-conference honors and was a second-team all-state selection. “She’s a dominating force at the net,” said coach Katy Walters. “Her block totals would have been much higher but teams had to tip just to get it around her. She’s a very efficient hitter who made very few mistakes and was able to hit against anyone in the state.”
Chloe Collins, 5-7 S, Cypress Woods (Cypress, Texas) – A stunning talent, this Texas recruit played a huge role in the Wildcats’ 45-3 season, which culminated with a trip to the Texas 5A Final Four. Super speedy and a heady performer, Collins put up more than 1,200 assists for Cy Woods in 117 games last year. She was more than just a setter, however, as she led the team in aces (52) and was in the top four in kills (186), digs (350) and blocks (32) as well. She was a First Team All State and First Team All- Greater Houston pick.
Sydney Cooper, 6-0 MB, Woodward Academy (College Park, Georgia) – One of only two sophomores named to the AAA All-State team, Cooper contributed with her hitting and blocking to the War Eagles’ state title in 2010. She finished second on her team in kills with 296, almost three per game, and added 113 blocks. She also was a First Team All Area pick and received post-season consideration as the team’s defensive player of the year even though she does not play back row. “I don't think there is another sophomore in the state that made an impact on her team like Sydney did,” said coach Tad Sahara.
Kayla Crook, 5-8 Setter, Barnstable (Hyannis, Massachusetts) – For the past two decades, Barnstable has been the team to beat in Division I in Massachusetts, but the Red Raiders were the clear underdogs in 2011 with New Bedford returning virtually its entire team. Crook’s emergence as a top flight Bay State setter not only gave Barnstable a fighting chance last fall, it paved the way for the Red Raiders to win state for the third time in the past four years and 13th overall. Crook led Division I in total assists with 624 and finished second on her team in digs and third in aces. An Old Colony League All Star, Crook also earned All Scholastic First Team honors from the Boston Herald and made the MGVCA All State team. “In my 23 years here she is the most skilled setter at this age that I have coached,” said coach Tom Turco,

Eve Davis, 6-1 OH, Charlotte Latin (Charlotte, North Carolina) – After amassing 279 kills and 295 digs as an All Conference freshman in 2009, Davis took her game to the next level in 2010, recording 455 kills (almost five per set) and 327 digs for the seven-time reigning NCISAA 3A state champs. Davis, who also amassed 47 aces and passed a 2.2, repeated as an All Conference performer in 2010 while adding All State honors to her resume.
Gabby Deshotel, 6-0 MB, Bayside Academy (Daphne, Alabama) – A great athlete, Deshotel had 19 kills and 13 blocks in leading the Admirals past Winston County for their ninth consecutive Alabama state title last fall. Named state tournament MVP, Deshotel led her 56-14 team in blocks with 350 and added 60 aces in 2010. She was one of the team’s leading attackers as well, recording 560 kills. Named to the Mobile Press Register Super 12 team, Deshotel is one of the best athletes to ever play volleyball in Alabama.
Mallory Dillon, 6-0 OH, Francis Howell Central (St. Charles, Missouri) – First Team All Conference and First Team All District, Dillon led the GAC South with 309 kills and was the driving force behind Howell Central’s 26-7 season. Coach Mark McAfee said that Dillon became the team’s go-to player late in the year. Dillon also added 311 digs for the Spartans.
Sophia Dodd, 5-11 S, St. Ignatius College Prep (Chicago, Illinois) – The two-time All Girls Chicago Athletic Conference (GCAC) selection ranks in the top four of every statistical category at St. Ignatius and is on pace to break six career records. “Sophia is a five-tool player putting up some impressive numbers in her young career,” said head coach Erik Eastman. “She is mature beyond her years.” Dodd, who had led the Wolfpack to a 61-17 record the past two seasons, had 440 assists, 195 kills, 28 aces, 197 digs and 45 blocks in 2010. Dodd has also been named to the GCAC All Academic team two straight years and earned Champaign News-Gazette All State Second Team honors last fall.
Monique Domme, 5-9 Setter, Cheyenne Mountain (Colorado Springs, Colorado) – With Domme at the helm, the Indians went 28-3 in 2010 and won a third straight Colorado 4A title. Named First Team All State in 4A by the Denver Post and Second Team All Area in Colorado Springs, Domme amassed a team- leading 922 assists for the Indians while finishing second in aces with 47 and third in digs with 238.
Emily Drew, 5-5 S, Hunterdon Central (Flemington, New Jersey) – Smart in the classroom and steady on the gym floor, Drew’s 700 assists in 2010 led the entire state of New Jersey. Drew, who started every match for the 36-1 Red Devils, broke the school singe match and single season assist records. She was named First Team All Conference, First Team All Central Jersey and First Team All State Group IV.
Skylar Dykstra, 5-10 OH, Redondo Union (Redondo Beach, California) -- Dykstra was a first-team all- Bay League selection after pounding home 352 kills to go with 403 digs. “Skylar turned her game up three notches at the halfway point of the season,” said coach Tommy Chaffins. “She stayed after practice every day for at least 30 minutes to work on her serve receive. No one in the South Bay hits the ball harder or throws their body making spectacular digs like Skylar does.” In a key win over Marymount, Dykstra scored the final three points in a 25-23 fourth-set victory.
Aubrey Edie, 6-0 Setter, Fayetteville (Arkansas) – Perhaps the best sophomore in Arkansas, the highly- recruited Edie took Fayetteville within two points of an Arkansas large-class state title in 2010. The only sophomore named to the 7A West All-State team, Edie amassed more than 800 assists for the 32-4-3 Bulldogs while adding more than 220 digs, 155 kills and 45 blocks.
Claire Felix, 6-5, MB, The Classical Academy (Colorado Springs, Colorado) -- Felix set the school record for kills in a season with 357, added 50 blocks and helped Classical win a district title and finish second in the region en route to a third-place showing in the state tournament. Felix was an all-league and all- area first-team pick and a second-team all-state honoree. “Her success was a big part of the team’s success during the year,” said coach Sherri Hawkins.
Jennie Frager, 6-5 MB, Torrey Pines (San Diego, California) – Considered by many as the top sophomore in San Diego and one of the top five sophomores in Southern California, Frager was named All League and All North County for Torrey Pines after recording 260 kills (.485 hitting efficiency) and solo blocking 3.5 times per match. “She is quite an athlete,” said head coach Jim Harrah. “She is very coachable, a quick study who blocks well, is quick to the pin, squares and penetrates on a consistent basis. As a hitter, she is able to turn the ball either direction effectively. She’s our best finisher. As a blocker, she’s a wall.” Frager was the only sophomore in the county selected to the All San Diego CIF Section team.
Allison Hammond, 6-1 MB, Springs Valley (Indiana) – A Class 1A First team All State selection, Hammond led Springs Valley to the Regional finals and a 26-9 record with 656 kills, 39 aces, 95 blocks and 290 digs. Her 6.5 kills per set led the nation’s sophomores according to MaxPreps. Hammond was also named All Conference, Team MVP, team captain and won the team’s blocking and hitting awards.
Riley Hanson, 5-11 MB, Nevis (Minnesota) – As a freshman in 2009, Hanson’s 441 kills and 339 digs were among the top marks in the nation for her class. Hanson was even better in 2010, recording 543 kills while adding 264 digs, 64 aces and 61 blocks for a 31-3 team. Team MVP, Hanson was named to the All State team.
Danielle Harbin, 6-1 MB, McGill-Toolen Catholic (Mobile, Alabama) – A Birmingham News First Team All State and All County selection, Harbin was a dominating force for the Dirty Dozen with 633 kills (on 1,182 attempts for a .389 hitting percentage) and 143 blocks. She had 29 kills in a state quarterfinal loss to Grissom. “Danielle really came into her own as the season progressed,” said head coach Gretchen Boykin. “She has an incredible vertical and can really hit the ball over the block. She was our team’s go-

to player. She is getting lots of attention from all the Southeastern Conference (SEC) coaches. She is the real deal.”
Amie Held, 5-9 MB, St. Pius (Festus, Missouri) – Before 2010, the Lancers had never been to state let alone had any success at state. But with Held, a club libero, leading the way out of the middle, St. Pius advanced all the way to the Class 2 finals last fall. Named First Team All Metro by the St. Louis Post- Dispatch, one of only two sophomores so recognized, Held led the St. Louis area in kills, averaging 5.85 per game, and also led her team in digs (472), blocks and serve-receive percentage. “She's so versatile she can successfully attack from any and all positions,” said coach Karrie Hermann. “I was amazed to see several teams triple blocking her. Teams always keyed in on her, always cheating their double blocks to try to stop her and even triple blocking but she still was able to dominate.”
Alex Holston, 6-0 OH, Sherwood (Maryland) – A tremendous athlete who was a state high jump finalist as a freshman, Holston led Sherwood to an undefeated regular season and Maryland 4A state title in 2010. A versatile lefty who can play on either pin, Holston had 19 kills in the title match, part of 304 kills she amassed on the year. Named First Team All-Met by the Washington Post, Player of the Year by the Gazette and team MVP, Holston also had 160 digs, 65 blocks and 60 aces. “Alex has tremendous all- around ability and is truly a complete player,” said Sherwood coach Brian McCarty. “Her athleticism and instincts allow her to get to most any ball on defense, while her confidence and composure help her to win points at the net.”
Kelly Hunter, 5-11 S/RS, Papillion-La Vista South (Papillion, Nebraska) – Sophomore teammates Amber and Kadie Rolfzen may get more publicity, but there may not have been a more valuable player on the Titan team in 2010 than Hunter, who was the team leader in assists (541) and aces (64) while finishing third in kills (212) and fourth in digs (249) for the undefeated Nebraska Class A champions. Hunter was named to the Omaha World-Herald all-Nebraska Class A first team, the Lincoln Journal Star Super-State all-state first team and the Associated Press Nebraska Class A first team. She is considered one of the premier setters in the nation in her class.
Ellie James, 5-11 OH, Bishop England (Daniel Island, South Carolina) – The 2A SCCAWS State Player of the Year, James led the Battlin Bishops in kills (310) and blocks (63 solo) in 2010 and to another state title in Class 2A. She added 42 aces and 157 digs and also made the All-Region team.
Alyssa Jensen, 5-10 S, St. Joseph’s (St. Louis, Missouri) – Jensen won many accolades in 2010 after hoisting 990 assists for St. Joseph’s, to go along with 161 digs, 47 aces and 36 blocks. She was First Team All State and First Team All Metro, as well as a member of the All Conference, All District and All Region teams. Coach Karen Davis raves about her sophomore setter, who led the Angels to the Missouri Class 4 title in 2010. “Alyssa is one of the best setters to have played in Missouri,” she asserts. “She has great, very natural hands. Alyssa is an athletic setter and a very smart. She sets the right hitter at the right time, especially in key situations. Alyssa is a student of the game. She is competitive and loves to win.”
Carly Kan, 5-8 OH, Punahou (Honolulu, Hawaii) – The kill leader for the state Division I runners up, the heavy-armed Kan was a First Team All League performer, the only sophomore so named. She also is considered among the top dozen players on the islands regardless of class, blending great court vision and good feet to be a superior attacker.
Haley Kole, 6-1 OH, Maclay (Tallahassee, Florida) – All-Big Bend Player of the Year, Kole led the Marauders to a 25-5 mark in 2010 and place in the Florida 2A semifinals. Kole finished the year with 471 kills, 266 digs, 72 aces and 48 blocks. “She meant a lot, not only as our primary playmaker, but also by her example and by how hard she worked in practice,” said first-year coach Rita Buck Crockett, who thinks Kole has the ability to be an Olympian if she sets her mind to it.
Kayce Krucki, 5-9 OH, Findlay (Ohio) – Player of the Year in the Greater Buckeye Conference, Player of the Year in her district and a Second Team All Ohio choice, Krucki led Findlay in kills (286) and added 245 digs and 45 aces. Her kill percentage was a staggering 49.4 percent and she served at 96.8 percent. Krucki was one of four sophomore starters on a team that finished 21-6 (all six losses to state-ranked teams) and reached the Regional semifinals. “She’s only 5-9, but I have never coached anybody who has the court sense, athleticism and ability to understand the game better than her,” said coach Bob Moran.
Jody Larson, 6-0 OH/S, Maize South (Wichita, Kansas) – Larson was a jack of all trades for the 19-7 Mavericks in 2010. She had 532 kills, 323 assists, 202 digs and 87 aces for a team that reached the 4A state tournament Named Second Team All State for the second straight year, Larson also was a member of the 4A All-State Tournament team.
Taylor Lebo, 5-10 MB, LaPorte (Indiana) – The only Indiana sophomore to make the ICGSA All-State team, Lebo had a remarkable year for LaPorte, leading the Slicers to the best record in school history and a berth in the large class Final Four. Lebo, who has committed to Indiana to play back row, was a do-it-all player for LaPorte, leading the team in every category other than kills and assists. She had 507 digs, passed 457 serves, had 124 aces and 60 solo blocks. She also was no slouch on attack, finishing second on the team with 341 kills, a 4.4 per game average. Named to four All Area teams, coach Marybeth Lebo said that Taylor “is one of those kids who works hard, loves to compete and makes a difference when she sets foot on the court.”
Jessica Lewis, 5-9 MB, Huntsville (Alabama) – Named the Huntsville Times’ Elite Volleyball Player of the Year, Lewis led the state 6A champion Panthers in kills, blocks, digs and aces according to coach Melanie Donahoo. A great athlete who gets off the ground quickly, Lewis was MVP of the state tournament, voted MVP by her team and was an All City, All Area and All State selection.
Makayla Lindburg, 5-11 MB, Crook County (Prineville, Oregon) – First Team All League, state 4A finals

MVP and Oregon’s 4A Player of the Year, Lindburg averaged more than four kills per set in 2010 with 44 blocks and really stepped up her game in the playoffs. Her 26 kills and seven blocks in the state finals helped lead the Cowgirls to another state title, their first in Class 4A and fifth straight overall. Lindburg played all the way around for her team for the first time in her career and played well, averaging 1.5 digs per set. “Makayla is a very hard worker, very focused and inspires the team with her leadership,” said longtime coach Rosie Honl.
Morgan Lowe, 6-0 OH, Hempfield (Landisville, Pennsylvania) – Lowe slammed 18 kills and was named state tournament co-MVP as Hempfield defeated Upper Merion for the Pennsylvania AAA state title last fall. One of only three sophomores named to the AAA All-State team, Lowe finished 2010 with 539 kills in 138 games. She added a team-leading 61 aces and her 276 digs placed her second on the team.
Julia McAvoy, 5-10 OH, Porter-Gaud (Charleston, South Carolina) – Team MVP for a second straight year, McAvoy led Porter-Gaud to a 3-1 upset of Ashley Hall in the independent schools 3A final in 2010. McAvoy led the 33-6 Cyclones in kills (295; 3.2 per game), aces (48) and service reception and was second in blocks and third in digs. Selected to the South Carolina All-Low Country First Team as well as First Team All Region and First Team All State, McAvoy was in the middle of everything good that Porter- Gaud did in 2010. “She is a dominating force for any aged kid in the state,” said head coach Ashley Heidtke.
Haley MacDonald, 6-0 S, Jackson (Mill Creek, Washington) – First Team All Conference and First Team All Area, MacDonald guided the Timberwolves to the state 4A title in 2010, earning a spot on the state All-Tournament Team. A tremendous athlete with good placement, MacDonald was a level-headed setter in 2010 who kept her teammates at ease throughout the state championship run. For the year, she finished with 745 assists, 171 digs and 75 aces.
Amanda McKinzie, 5-11 OH, St. Philip Catholic Central (Battle Creek, Michigan) – This long, silky smooth attacker was a front court force in the Fighting Tigers’ run to a fifth straight title in Class D, averaging 16 kills and 11 digs per match in two state finals wins. On the year, she amassed 699 kills for a 63-7-2 team, averaging 4.3 terminations per set. Solid in the back row, the athletic McKinzie, who plays like Michigan legend Megan Hendrickson, added 246 digs, 80 aces and 33 blocks. She was named First Team All League, First Team All City and First Team All State.
Kayla Morin, 5-10 OH, Portage Northern (Portage, Michigan) – Third Team All State Class A in 2010, Morin is a dynamic player with excellent ball control who put the Huskies on her back in 2010, playing multiple positions all season long. She finished the year with 316 kills, 394 digs, 87 blocks and 95 aces.
Emily Morrison, 5-11 OH, St. Pius X (Atlanta, Georgia) -- Morrison was named to the Georgia Volleyball Coaches Association all-state team for Class AAA recently. Morrison was one of only two sophomores selected for the honor. She helped lead the Golden Lions to a 32-win season and an area championship. Morrison led St. Pius X in kills. She was also a 5AAA all-area selection.
Peyton Moyles, 5-7 S, Redlands East Valley (Redlands, California) -- Moyles, who earned an UnderArmour player of the week honor, finished the season with 1,031 assists to go with 217 digs, 77 kills, 46 aces and 10 blocks for a Redlands East Valley team that went 30-6, won a conference championship with a 15-0 record and advanced to the CIF-SS finals. “Peyton is very fast, strong and works harder than anyone you’ll watch,” said Redlands East Valley coach Trish Vansant. “Volleyball is her passion and she loves every second of it. She improved tremendously as the season went on and ended up breaking the school record for assists. Our team would not have been close to as successful without her. If we take her off the court, we have no one to set our big hitters. She’s a hard worker with a positive attitude and is a dream to coach.”
Ebony Nwanebu, 6-3 MB, Lovejoy (Lucas, Texas) – Nwanebu made quite an impact for the Leopards after transferring from 5A MacArthur. She led the team in kills (416) and solo blocks (159) for a 46-3 squad that won the Texas 3A title for the third year in a row and was named Texas’ best team regardless of class by LoneStarVolleyball.com. First Team All State, Nwanebu, who might be the best college prospect in this class, also was named District MVP, State Tournament MVP and First Team All Area by the Dallas Morning News. “This quiet and reserved person off the court is ferocious and fierce on the court,” said head coach Ryan Mitchell. “The opposing team's offense always had to know where she was on the court and at 6-3 she altered shots with frequency when the ball wasn't going straight down on the block. She runs an incredible first tempo attack and when running the slide she hits one of the heavier balls I've seen.”
Lindsey Owens, 6-0 OH, Bishop Moore (Orlando, Florida) – The only non-senior to earn First Team All Central Florida honors from the Orlando Sentinel, Owens led the nationally-ranked Hornets, whose 26-5 campaign came to an end in a five-set 3A semifinal loss to state champion Berkeley Prep, in kills (370) and aces (45) while placing second on the team in digs (301) and blocks (39). She is a silky smooth outside hitter who does everything well.
Leah Perri, 5-11 MB, Gull Lake (Richland, Michigan) – Named First Team All State in Class B as well as First Team everything else, Perri was a fantastic six-rotation player for one of Michigan’s best teams. She finished 2010 with 484 kills in 115 games, adding 395 digs, 104 blocks and 75 aces. “Leah was, by far, the best all-around player on our team,” said coach Karyn Furlong. “She was our go-to attacker in the front and back row and was our best serve receive passer. She is quick off the floor, making her very effective in the middle, but also has excellent ball control allowing her to attack a variety of balls.
Cassidy Pickrell, 6-0 OH, Coppell (Texas) - Pickrell, the team’s co-MVP and an all-district first-team pick, tallied 275 kills, 319 digs and 27 blocks in 2010 despite missing 5 games due to injury. Pickrell also earned all-district academic honors. Pickrell was the MVP of the Jenny Echerd tournament.

Virginia Pittman, 6-0 MB, Bayside Academy (Daphne, Alabama) – Pittman made the move from the outside to the middle nicely last fall, leading the state-champion Admirals with 632 kills while adding 325 digs, 184 blocks and 150 aces. She was named to the All State team as well as to the Birmingham News Super 12 team.
Kylie Randall, 6-2 OH/MB, Magnolia (Texas) -- Randall is regarded as one of the top sophomores in the Houston area and is already drawing interest from major Division I schools. Randall finished the year with 442 kills (top 20 among national sophomores according to one national statistical service). Randall earned all-district first-team honors and was an all-county and all-academic district honoree as well. “Kylie is definitely one of the top 5 sophomores in the Houston area and/or Texas,” said coach Terri Johnson.
Morgan Reed, 5-11 S, Reagan (San Antonio, Texas) – The Rattlers had another strong year in San Antonio with newcomer Reed at the helm. She had a school-record 1,207 assists and 182 digs for coach Mike Carter’s team. She was a unanimous First Team All District pick and San Antonio area Newcomer of the Year.
Chloe Reinig, 6-4 OH, South Lyon (Michigan) – Considered one of the top talents nationally in her class, Reinig amassed 389 kills, 95 blocks and 63 aces in 2010 after transferring from Marian, which went on to win the Class A title once again. She was named Honorable Mention All State. “She is a put away hitter, who can play either outside or middle and is dominating wherever she is,” said coach Mindy Collins. “For her height, she is easily the quickest player I have ever seen play. Teams that play us plan their game around Chloe due to her dominance on the court.” A member of the U.S. Youth National Team, Reinig recently committed to Michigan State.
Amber Rolfzen, 6-3 OH, Papillion-La Vista South (Papillion, Nebraska) – Gatorade’s Nebraska Player of the Year, Amber Rolfzen also was named co-Nebraska Player of the Year, along with her sister Kadie Rolfzen, by the Lincoln Journal Star and Omaha Journal after leading the Titans to an undefeated season and the Nebraska Class A title, the first in school history. Amber had 52 kills and 44 digs in three state- tournament matches and finished the year with 377 kills, a team leading 289 digs, 37 aces and 32 blocks. She and her sister were PrepVolleyball.com’s co-National Freshmen of the Year in 2009 and committed to Nebraska before beginning high school play.
Kadie Rolfzen, 6-3 OH, Papillion-La Vista South (Papillion, Nebraska) – Runner up, by a whisker to sister Amber Rolfzen, in consideration for Gatorade’s Nebraska Player of the Year, Kadie Rolfzen was named co-Nebraska Player of the Year, along with her sister, by the Lincoln Journal Star and Omaha Journal after leading the Titans to an undefeated season and the Nebraska Class A title, the first in school history. Kadie had 51 kills and 39 digs in three state-tournament matches and finished the year with a team leading 405 kills, 280 digs, 46 aces and 55 blocks. She and her sister were PrepVolleyball.com’s co-National Freshmen of the Year in 2009 and committed to Nebraska before beginning high school play.
Katie Roustio, 6-1 OH, O’Fallon (Illinois) – Roustio, an Illinois recruit, battled back from an aggravated rotator cuff early in the fall campaign to lead the team in kills and aces. She finished the year with 243 kills and 295 digs and was second on the team in blocks with 66. Named First Team All Conference, First Team All Metro and First Team All State by the News-Gazette, Roustio “has really become a dominant force in our area and a natural leader on the court,” said coach Erin Legendre.
Danielle Rygelski, 5-11 OH, Francis Howell (St. Charles, Missouri) – Rygelski made a switch from middle to outside and was virtually unstoppable in 2010. A First Team All Conference, First Team All District and First Team All Region selection, Rygelski had 297 kills with a hitting percentage of .340, 29 aces, and a team-high 58 blocks. She was just as solid on the defensive end, contributing 241 digs and a serve receive percentage of 95 percent for the 24-8 district champions.
Alexa Saba, 5-4 L, Hamilton (Chandler, Arizona) – Second Team All State in Class 5A, Saba played a key factor in Hamilton going 32-7 and finishing second in the state in 2010. Saba recorded 407 digs and had 20 aces. She is an incredible athlete who plays beyond her years.
Mallory Salis, 5-9 OH, Marist (Chicago, Illinois) – Easily one of the top sophomores in the Chicago area, Salis led Marist to a best-ever 39-3 record and a supersectional berth opposite eventual Class 4A state champion Lyons. She finished the year with 232 kills, 60 aces, 49 blocks and 299 digs. “She starts on a team that plays a statewide and national schedule,” said head coach Natalie Holder. “That makes a difference when comparing her to other athletes, regardless of age. She earned her statistics against the very best players in the state and the nation. She is the total package. She makes a consistent impact for six rotations. We had a loaded team with a plethora of skilled athletes, and she was probably the most underrated because she was always surrounded by them on the court.”
Katie Schau, 5-9 S, Gull Lake (Richland, Michigan) – Coach Karyn Furlong says that Schau is the best setter to come through Gull Lake. She is a true student of the game with a competitive fire that energizes her entire team. In 2010, she amassed 1345 assists, 156 kills, 104 aces and 367 digs playing for one of Michigan’s best teams. She earned First Team All Conference, First Team All Region, First Team All Area and Second Team All State honors.
Kelly Scott, 6-1 S, Harrison (Kennesaw, Georgia) – Not only was Scott a highly-decorated volleyball player in 2010 – she was named First Team All State, First Team All Region, First Team All Cobb County and First Team All Area by the Marietta Daily – she also received her school’s School Academic Award for having a GPA over 3.75. Scott amassed 852 assists, 94 aces, 76 kills, 30 blocks and 177 digs for Harrison, which finished 42-12 and reached the Georgia Class AAAAA semifinals. “Kelly continues to develop the leadership skills she will need at the next level,” said head coach Clay Taylor. “She is

Kaysie Shebeneck, 6-1 RS/S, Burlington (Wisconsin) – First Team All Conference, Second Team All County and HM All State, Shebeneck did everything the Demons asked of her during the 2010 season and more. Though she’d probably prefer setting a 5-1 offense, Shebeneck was a productive player in Burlington’s 6-2, amassing 638 assists, 283 kills, 149 digs, 74 solo blocks and 43 aces for a 43-7-1 team that reached the Division I quarterfinals.
Caroline Sipiora, 5-7 OH, Vista del Lago (Folsom, California) -- Sipiora led her team in just about every offensive and defensive category this year. She helped Vista go 35-8 and win a section title. Sipiora was runner-up in the league MVP voting and was one of 10 players named to the Sacramento Bee all-metro team. She finished the year with 389 kills and 587 digs.
Ashley Smith, 6-0 OH, Clear Creek (League City, Texas) – One of the premier outside hitters in her class in the state of Texas, Smith dominated the varsity level by leading the Wildcats to a District championship and the Regional Semifinals in Class 5A. Smith broke the school kills record (589), added more than 300 digs and was named First Team All District 24-5A and All Galveston County. She also was Clear Creek’s MVP. “She has a huge ceiling,” said coach Scott Simonds.
Penina Snuka, 5-7 OH, Gilbert (Arizona) – A dynamic six-rotation player, the amazing Snuka was the Tigers’ go-to hitter in 2010 with junior Macey Gardner sidelined much of the year by injury. She finished the year with 520 kills (4.5 per set) while adding a team-leading 83 aces and 456 digs, just 11 off the team lead. She was a Second Team All State pick in Class 5A.
Katie Stadick, 6-2 MB, Watertown (Wisconsin) – Named Third Team All State, the highest recognition given a sophomore, Stadick tied the school single-season kills record with 527 in 2010 while adding 113 blocks. A Second Team All Conference pick, coach Travis Hull said that Stadick, who has committed to Illinois, was the team’s go-to player and was most productive against some of the best middles in the state. “She is one of the smartest kids I have coached and plays with a strong will to win, but also knows how to stay focused when the pressure is on,” he added.
Cassidy Stankowski, 5-8 OH, Frontier Regional (South Deerfield, Massachusetts) – An impact player in the Bay State since she was a seventh grader, Stankowski had another exceptional season in 2010, which included leading Frontier Regional to an undefeated campaign and the state Division 3 title. One of four All State performers on the best team in the state regardless of class, Stankowski averaged more than five kills per set and improved her hitting percentage from the year before. She also added 173 digs and 39 aces and is considered by many to be the best player in the state regardless of class year.
Macy Steenhuysen, 5-8 OH, East Kentwood (Kentwood, Michigan) -- Steenhuysen was a first-team all- conference pick in a league regarded as one of the toughest in the state. She also earned all-region and second-team all-state accolades. Steenhuysen helped lead her team to the state semifinals and a 50-win campaign. She finished with 546 kills (hitting at a .268 clip), 91 service aces and 790 digs. She serve- received 744 balls and made just 77 errors.
Michelle Strizak, 6-0 OH, Mount Notre Dame (Cincinnati, Ohio) – Strizak transitioned from a starting right side attacker as a freshman to a starting all-around outside hitter as a sophomore and excelled for an 18-7 Cougar team that reached the regional finals in Division I. The team’s primary offensive weapon, Strizak led MND in kills with 345 despite defenses geared to try to stop her. She also had 282 digs, 60 aces and 35 total blocks. She earned First Team All-GGCL, First Team All City and Second Team All State honors. “Michelle is a very athletic player, and will be very exciting to watch as she continues to become more comfortable as an outside hitter,” said Mount Notre Dame coach Joe Burke.
Nikki Taylor, 6-3 OH, Kaiser (Honolulu, Hawaii) – Blessed with great size, Taylor was the catalyst that helped carry her team in the state Division I semifinals. She attacks at a high point and is developing a solid all-around game. Already being recruited by the in-state Rainbow Wahine, Taylor earned All State honors in 2010.
Kaitlyn Teeter, 6-1 OH, Friendship Christian (Lebanon, Tennessee) --Teeter powered home an impressive 608 kills this season (4.34 per set) to go with 311 digs, 109 aces and 36 blocks. She was named the district regular season MVP and the district tournament MVP as well as All State. Teeter was the only sophomore to gain admission to any of the three all-Mid-State teams (she was a third-team choice). “The main reason we have had the success the last two years is that we have Kaitlyn,” said coach Nancy Reed. “A player like Kaitlyn rarely comes around in a coach’s career. Kaitlyn wants to be a great player in all of the skills.”
Andrea Thobe, 5-8 S, Lehman Catholic (Sidney, Ohio) – Thobe engineered her team’s drive to a Division 4 state championship with 899 assists. She added 215 digs, 37 aces and 36 blocks. Thobe was named First Team All District and Second Team All State.
Anni Thomasson, 6-1 OH, Newark (Ohio) -- Thomasson, who has already committed to the University of Kentucky, was named the Newark Advocate player of the year. That award was in addition to her being named to the all-Ohio honorable mention team, earning an all-district first-team selection as well as being selected the Ohio Capital Conference-Ohio Division player of the year for the second-straight season. She finished the year with 347 kills on 710 swings and also had 247 digs (3.9 per set). “Anni’s defense is the best I’ve coached/seen in the 34 years that I have coached,” said coach Ruth Sunkle. “Her innate ability is what makes Anni such a versatile player. She enables us to be a lot better team with her well-rounded ability.”
Jordan Tucker, 6-1 MB, Bishop Miege (Shawnee Mission, Kansas) – The 2010 15 Open MVP for Invasion, Tucker continued her solid play in the fall for the Kansas 5A champion Stags. With senior

middle Grace Whitley hobbled by injury for a good part of the season, Tucker became the nationally- ranked team’s go-to hitter out of the middle, amassing 262 kills in 486 attacks. She led the team in hitting efficiency (.444) and also set the team standard in blocks with 112 solo stuffs. First Team All League and an impressive student, Tucker has only scratched the surface of her immense talent.
Cassie Wait, 5-7 OH, Gardner-Edgerton (Gardner, Kansas) – The only sophomore named First Team All State in Class 5A, Wait was a do-everything player for the Trailblazers in 2010, leading them to a 32-7 record with several quality wins. Wait, who boasts a 27-inch vertical, finished her sophomore campaign with 463 kills, 418 digs and 44 aces.
Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, 6-0 MB, Hopewell (Aliquippa, Pennsylvania) – First Team All League, First Team All Section and First Team All State, Walker-Kimbrough is a supreme athlete who also excels in basketball and track & field. Touching at 10-0, able to attack anywhere along the net and a devastating blocker, Walker-Kimbrough finished atop the Viking stat sheet in many categories, including kills, blocks and hitting percentage.

Sonia Abuel-Saud, 5-7 OH, Sacred Heart Prep (Atherton, California) – This Second Team All Area pick by the Palo Alto Daily averaged 3.1 kills and 2.5 digs per game for the Gators, whose Cinderella run late in the season took them all the way to the CIF Division IV championship match.
Tori Arenas, 5-4 L, Cypress Woods (Cypress, Texas) – Arenas recorded 826 digs for one of the nation’s top teams in 2010.
Caylee Antilley, 5-11 OH, Nation Ford (Fort Mill, South Carolina) – A standout for the South Carolina AAA champions, Antilley made great strides during the season and was a go-to attacker for the Falcons from October through their push for the state title. Long and with a strong right arm, Antilley finished second on her team in kills with 175 in 83 games for a 29-4 team. She also finished second in hitting percentage, second in aces with 61, second in blocks and second in digs. “Caylee really turned it on as the season progressed,” said Falcon coach Carrie Christian. “She averaged almost three kills a game and had a .405 hitting percentage since October (.489 in the playoffs). She is a person who loves a challenge and rises to the occasion. The results she got towards the end of the year really show the things she is capable of. We had a number of matches where we won rather easily and so she would rest a lot to allow other players to get into the match. Later in the year, she was able to play longer and her numbers rose quickly.”
Kololia "Koko" Atoa, 5-10 OH, Damonte Ranch (Reno, Nevada) - Considered by many to be the best all-around player in her class in the state, Atoa averaged four kills and four digs per set in 2010.
Allegra Lee Bell, 6-0 MB, Baker (Baldwinsville, New York) – First Team All League, First Team All Section and Second Team All State AA, Bell averaged 2.5 kills per game for the state champs in 2010.
Brooke Berryhill, 5-6 L, Northwest (Justin, Texas) – Berryhill continues to break school record after school record and will likely shatter some more before she is done. The First Team All District, San Marcos All Tournament, All Wise County First Team Defensive Player of the Year and team Most Valuable Player (selected by her teammates) established school records for best season serve receive percentage (95 percent), most digs in district play (375) and most digs in a season (825). “Brooke has been making a huge impact on the success of the Northwest volleyball program since her freshman year,” said head coach Dayna Horak. “She is an incredible athlete.”
Abbey Bessler, 6-0 OH, St. Henry (Erlanger, Kentucky) – The team’s go-to attacker, Bessler led the 25- winCrusaders in kills with 303 and in aces with 36 in 2010. Also a defensive force with 262 digs, Bessler earned Kentucky all-state honors and was an all-conference pick as well as a district all-tournament selection and was the 8th Regional all-tournament MVP.
Raena Borcuk, 5-7 OH, Rim of the World (Lake Arrowhead, California) – Supremely quick, Borcuk lead the Fighting Scots in kills with 285 (3.3 per game) in 2010, while adding 247 digs and 55 aces. Named First Team All CIF-SS in Division III-A, Borcuk attacks well out of both the front and back rows and is a superior passer and defender.
Ciara Capezio, 6-3 OH, Burlington (Wisconsin) – First Team All Conference and HM All State, Capezio, who recently committed to Minnesota, used her big arm to slam 449 kills in 2010 for a state quarterfinalist team. She worked hard to become a six-rotation OH with primary passing duties last fall and was able to increase her impact from all areas of the floor. She showed off string back row play to the tune of 288 digs, while adding 47 aces and 42 blocks.
Emily Cappai, 5-10 OH, Johns Creek (Georgia) – Cappai helped lead Johns Creek to the Final Four in Class AAAA in 2010. An All Area pick, Cappai led Johns Creek with 301 kills in 96 games while adding 304 digs.
Isabel Carmona, 6-3 RS, Titusville (Florida) – An imposing presence on the right, Carmona recorded 240 kills in 2010 and was among the nation’s block leaders in her class for an 18-7 team.
Courtney Chacon, 5-8 S/OH, Valley (Gilcrest, Colorado) – The Vikings went 29-1 in 2010 and dethroned Colorado Springs Christian for 3A supremacy in 2010 thanks to two dynamic sophomores. Chacon averaged 2.7 kills, 2.7 digs and 2.0 assists per set for Valley and was named First Team All State Class 3A.

Kristin Conor, 5-8 S, Highlands Ranch (Colorado) – Tops in the state in aces and fourth in assists, Conor led her team to a seventh place finish in the Colorado Class 5A state tournament – losing to Nicole Dalton and eventual state champion Chaparral High School – to earn First Team All-League and Honorable Mention All State honors, the only freshman or sophomore to be mentioned among the state’s best.
Chrissy Daggett, 5-11 OH, La Follette (Madison, Wisconsin) -- Daggett is regarded as one of the top sophomores in Wisconsin. She finished with 363 kills this season and also had 416 digs to go with 63 aces and 19 blocks. “Chrissy was a major contributor in leading our team to the state quarterfinals this season,” said coach Mark Rushton. “She was a six-rotation player and primary passer and led our team in digs and aces. She is a tireless worker who flies around the court making the highlight-reel digs. She never ceases in her relentless pursuit to keep the ball alive.”
Allie Davenport, 5-11 OH/RS, Sandy Creek (Tyrone, Georgia) – A high flyer, Davenport had 314 kills, 98 aces, 27 blocks, 236 digs and 38 assists to help lead Sandy Creek to a 40-18 record and second place in Class 3A.
Brynn Eckhardt, 5-8 S/MB, Valley (Gilcrest, Colorado) – The Vikings went 29-1 in 2010 and dethroned Colorado Springs Christian for 3A supremacy in 2010 thanks to two dynamic sophomores. Eckhardt averaged 2.7 kills, 2.0 digs and 3.3 assists per set for Valley and was named First Team All State Class 3A.
Li'I Etimani, 5-9 S, Bishop Lynch (Dallas, Texas) – One of only two players to play every set of every match, Etimani, who transferred in this year, led the 32-7 Friars in assists with 973 and was second in aces. Named Setter of the Year in TAPPS District 1-5A, Etimani also was a First Team All State pick.
Rachel Fortner, 5-11 OH, St. Henry (Erlanger, Kentucky) – Fortner led St. Henry to a third-place finish in the state tournament with 278 kills, 234 digs, 31 blocks and 27 aces. She was named First Team All Region and Second Team All State. “Rachel is a very versatile player,” said St. Henry coach Maureen Kaiser. “She’s a great leader and an effective outside hitter. Rachel has an effective jump floater and is an excellent passer and just an all-around fabulous player.”
Taylor Gallart, 6-1 OH, Holy Cross (Kensington, Maryland) – A great athlete with exceptional all-around skills, Gallart had a team-high 407 kills, a team-high 89 blocks and a team-high 87 aces for a 23-9 team in 2010. Selected First Team All Conference, Gallart also recorded 165 digs, second most on the squad and anchored a three-player serve receive. “Taylor provides a high level of energy as well as a calm, mature presence on the court that makes everyone on her team play better,” said coach David Geiser. “She is the cornerstone of a team that went from 4-14 in the WCAC the year before she arrived to 12-6 her freshman year and 13-5 this past year.”
India Green, 5-9 S, Quincy (Illinois) – Green stepped into the shoes of graduated All-American Hannah Kvitle and didn’t miss a beat. She led Quincy to a 33-5 record while recording a school-record 955 assists, 85 kills and 232 digs. “As a freshman, she received very little playing time at the varsity level because she was behind All State setter Hannah Kvitle,” said coach Barb Crist. But she did not let that influence her at all; she used that as a tool to make herself better. This past season she was doing things as a sophomore that most senior players do not do.” Green made the All Conference and All Area teams and was Honorable Mention All State.
Ashley Guthrie, 5-10 S, Saugus (California) – First Team All League and on the All-Santa Clarita Valley team, Guthrie had 884 assists and 172 digs in 2010. She is a good decision maker with hands strong enough to push the ball from pin to pin with accuracy.
Caitlin Hall, 5-7 OH, St. Monica (Pasadena, California) – League MVP and selected all-CIF Southern Section in Division V-A, Hall averaged approximately 15 kills per game in 2010. The team went 11-1 in league play last fall. “Without her, we would be in the bottom half of the league, without doubt,” said coach Darren Bradley.
Amanda Hanson, 5-8 OH, Delano (Minnesota) – First Team All Conference, Hanson led Delano back to the state tournament in 2010, amassing 241 kills, 300 digs and 52 aces. “Amanda is very poised and gets the most out of those around her,” said coach Rebecca Rue. “She is relentless on defense and has remarkable overall ball control.”
Allie Havers, 6-5 MB, Mattawan (Michigan) – Havers had 398 kills, 113 blocks and 63 aces for a 43-16- 1 Mattawan team that came within three wins of playing for the state Class A title in 2010. She was named Second Team All State.
Ellen Hays, 5-6 L, Bedford (Temperance, Michigan) – Statistically one of the top liberos in the country, Hays had 1,147 digs for a Class A Final Four team in 2010. I went to the Michigan state tournament, so I looked her up in the program. Scrawled next to her name was the word “Good.” Hays was a Third Team All State pick.
Katie Hegarty, 6-2 MB, Aztec (New Mexico) – An All District performer, Hegarty amassed 371 kills, 196 blocks and 233 digs in 108 games in 2010. She already holds school career records for solo blocks and kills. A great athlete who also excelled in basketball but is now focusing on volleyball, Hegarty became the youngest girl ever to be in the BFS (Bigger, Faster, Stronger) 800 club. Academically, she ranks No. 1 in her class. “She is the real deal as a student-athlete,” said veteran coach Ann Strauss.
Jale Hervey, 5-10 OH, Buckhorn (New Market, Alabama) – Second Team All State Elite Team in 2010, the athletic, high flying Hervey led the Bucks in kills in 2010, amassing 344 (3.4 per set). She added 50 aces and a team-leading 177 digs.

Kyra Holt, 6-0 OH, Albany (California) – Holt was named Third Team All-East Bay after a 2010 campaign that included 366 kills, 270 digs and 50 aces for a 29-6 team.
Brooke Honeycutt, 6-2 MB, Desert Vista (Phoenix, Arizona) – A force in the middle, Honeycutt came into her own for the Thunder in 2010. She led her team in kills with 392 (3.1 per set) and in blocks with 148 while adding 145 digs and 33 aces. She was named Honorable Mention All State in Class 5A.
Carley Hoover, 6-2 MB, Daniel (Central, South Carolina) – An All State, All Region, Eastside All Tournament and Lakes and Mountains Team selection, Hoover amassed 264 kills, 31 blocks, 38 aces and 188 digs for Daniel. “Carley is a powerful, strong hitter,” said head coach Joy Stewart. “She is able to play all aspects of the game and excel in each. She loves the game and gives so much of herself in all that she does. Carley is aggressive and confident, a leader on the court who encourages her teammates to work together.” Suzanne Horner, 5-10 S/RS, State College (Pennsylvania) - Horner was a versatile performer for the Little Lady Lions in 2010. She finished with 255 kills and hit .411, while also distributing 354 assists. She also had 180 digs, 41 blocks and 38 aces. Horner was a Class AAA all-state selection, earned all-District 6 honors, while also being named to the Independent League all-star team. Horner was the MVP at the Saint Francis and earned all-tournament honors at the Cumberland Valley tournament. “Suzanne was an integral part of a team that went undefeated during the regular season, won three tournaments and was ranked most of the year in the top three of the state,” State College coach Chad Weight said. “Her work ethic, intensity and passion for volleyball is demonstrated in her playing volleyball on a year-round basis, committing herself to club, multiple camps and preseason workouts.” Cassie House, 6-2 OH/MB, Cleveland (Rio Rancho, New Mexico) – The state high jump champion as a freshman, House used her leaping and hitting prowess to lead Cleveland to the state championship match. A First Team All State, First Team All District and Second Team All Metro selection, House moved to the outside for the state tournament and had 19 kills and five blocks in the title match. “Cassie is a freak physically and is still learning the game, but she was dominant at times this year,” said head coach Ben Wallis. On the season, House finished with 250 kills (second on the team), 91 block assists and 80 total blocks. She also had 21 aces in limited action from the back row. Maddie Hubbell, 5-3 L, Liberty (Bakersfield, California) – Considered by many to be the area’s best defender, Hubbell had 533 digs (5.7 per game) for the 20-12 Patriots in 2010, earning First Team All Area honors in the process.
Grace Kauth, 5-9 OH/S, Chaminade-Julienne (Dayton, Ohio) – First Team All League and Third Team All State, Kauth produced 426 kills and 331 digs for a 12-11 team in 2010.
Megan Kennedy, 6-0 OH, Coppell (Texas) -- Kennedy was named the 7-5A newcomer of the year and earned team co-MVP honors after registering 212 kills and finishing with a team-leading 354 digs and was regarded as the squad’s top passer/defensive player. Lauren Kerrigan, 5-9 S, Wilmington Friends (Wilmington, Delaware) – The top setter in Delaware, Kerrigan led Friends to a 15-4 record and third place finish in the state tournament in 2010. She is smooth and athletic and runs a fast and diverse offense. She was named Second Team All State.
Claire Kruez, 5-11 OH, Champion (Boerne, Texas) – Named to the San Antonio Express News All Area Team and a unanimous District 28 4-A All District selection, Kruez amassed 435 kills (hitting at a .395 percentage clip) and 84 aces for Boerne Champion. Kruez was also named San Antonio Express News Player of the Week, to the Hill County Invitational All Tournament Team and was a Lone Star Volleyball All Texas Team Honorable Mention selection. Kruez was also an Academic All District selection. “She is a good all-around player who can play many positions,” an area observer noted. “Her topspin jump serve demands the respect of the passers on the other side of the floor. Claire has a great attitude and works hard to make herself and her teammates better.”
Alicia Lewis, 5-9 MB, Warner Christian (South Daytona Beach, Florida) – Lewis had 242 kills, 227 digs, 90 aces and 95 blocks, all team highs or close to it, for the Eagles, who went 28-2 and won the Florida 1A title for the third straight year in 2010. She was named First Team All Area by the Daytona Beach News-Journal and HM All-Central Florida by the Orlando Sentinel.
Jessika Long, 5-10 S, Juan Diego (Draper, Utah) – A two-year starter, Long led her very young team to a second place finish at the Utah Class AA tournament, the best finish in school history. Long set school single-season records in assists (769) and aces (81) in 2010 and was named First Team All Region and Second Team All State.
Morganne Longoria, 5-0 L, Burlington (Wisconsin) -- First Team All Conference, Third Team All County and HM All State, Longoria was the back row leader for a Demon team that went 43-7-1 in 2010 and reached the state tournament for the second straight year. A sparkplug and fiery leader, Longoria recorded 840 digs and 45 aces while passing a 2.6 as Burlington’s primary passer in all six rotations.
Hailey Luke, 6-0 S/RS, Lake Brantley (Altamonte Springs, Florida) – Competitive and athletic, Luke finished the season with 333 assists, 130 kills and 147 digs to go with 34 aces and 21 blocks. Luke was tabbed an Orlando Sentinel all-Central Florida third-team honoree. “Hailey did whatever was asked of her from setting to hitting to passing, and she sets the example for her teammates on and off the court,” said Lake Brantley coach Bob Drake. “Hailey will not only be one of the top players in the conference in the future but will be among the best in the central Florida area and statewide. Her knowledge and playing ability is matched only by some of the elite players in the state of Florida.”
Cheyanne Lyons, 5-11 OH/MB, Raymore-Peculiar (Peculiar, Missouri) – A physically strong, athletic and aggressive front row player. State selection, Lyons had 318 kills, 60 blocks, 242 digs and 22 aces for Ray-Pec. “Cheyanne is a very good jumper with excellent agility and quickness,” said head coach Dave MacLean. “She improved in her passing over the past two varsity seasons and developed into one of our primary passers. She took the majority of our swings this fall season from both the front and the back row. Cheyanne's strengths include a will to win and intensity. She's competitive with everything we do in practice and with whomever we play. She wants to be a success in volleyball.” Lyons also competes in varsity track.
Jet Manzi, 5-6 OH/S, Marlboro (New Jersey) – Manzi played every point of every set in 2010 to help lead the Mustangs to their first Shore Conference Class A North Division title (with a 9-1 record) and their second-ever appearance at the state championships, where they reached the quarterfinals before bowing out with a school-best 23-6 record. Manzi had 262 kills, 68 aces and 308 assists and was named First Team All Shore Conference by the Asbury Park Press, First Team All Shore Conference by the Star Ledger, Third Team All State Group 4 by the Star Ledger, and First Team All FRHSD. “You will never find a player that works harder,” said coach John E. Titus III of rival Parsippany High School. “She shows up early, leaves late, and goes to any and every clinic she can in the state to make herself better.”
Tatum Marshall, 5-6 L, Fayetteville (Arkansas) – Marshall was the starting libero for the Fayetteville team that enjoyed its most successful season ever and finished second in the state in Division 7A. Marshall was named All Conference and to the All State Tournament team. “I think she is the best libero in Arkansas,” said head coach Jessica Phelan. Tori Martella, 5-7 L, Providence (Jacksonville, Florida) - Labeled a feisty defensive magnet by one observer, Martella made digging look easy with her 421 digs (4.8 per set) this past season. Martella added a new school-record 90 service aces, 234 service points and passed at a team-leading 2.39 rating on serves received. This Florida Times Union All-Area libero helped Providence to a 19-9 mark. “Tori is one of the top defensive players I have ever worked with,” coach Jonathan Pennington said. “She has already developed into a very good high school player and has the potential of being a good college player.”
Chloe Miller, 5-9 OH, Pleasant Valley (Iowa) -- Miller finished third in the conference in kills per set at 3.73 and was one of only two players to play full rotation for the team. On the season, she tallied 308 kills, 253 digs, 29 blocks and 23 aces. “She is our power hitter and go-to person in a crunch-time situation,” noted coach Stacey Ruff. Miller was a first-team all-metro and all-conference selection, as well as an all-district pick.
Izzy Miller, 6-2 MB, Arcadia (Phoenix, Arizona) – Named Second Team All Area, Second Team All State and Region Player of the Year, Miller led the 26-8 Titans in kills (3.5 per) and blocks (97 total) in 2010.
Ellen Munday, 5-11 MB, Pembroke Hill (Kansas City, Missouri) – On a team with six senior leaders and contributors, Munday was the team’s top middle in 2010, leading the Raiders in kills (260) and solo blocks (64). Named First Team All District, Second Team All Region and Second Team All State, Munday was a key player in the Raiders’ 27-6 season.
Cassie O'Hara, 6-4 MB, Emmaus (Pennsylvania) – A District XI all-star and a member of the Morning Call Newspaper All-Area all stars, O’Hara had 210 kills and 78 blocks to push her career totals to 383 kills and 141 blocks. The ceiling is unlimited for this tall Irish lass. “Cassie is very talented and has grown as a player,” said head coach Gwen Hoffman. “She is not shy at the net and is feared when she is in the front row. Each year she grows at least an inch and must ‘grow’ into her body during the high school and club seasons. She handles her height very well and is a very important part of our offense. Cassie is a great student in school and has a wonderful personality as well.”
Audrey Reeg, 5-8 OH, Hempstead (Dubuque, Iowa) – A killing machine, Reeg terminated 359 times for Hempstead in 2010 en route to First Team All Conference and Honorable Mention All State honors.
Courtney Richardson, 5-9 S, Clear Creek (League City, Texas) – Richardson grabbed the reins of one of the state’s top programs and led Clear Lake to a District championship and the Regional Semifinals in Class 5A. She set a school record for assists (1,432) and assists per set (10.3) and was one of only three setters in Texas to break the 1,400 assist plateau. Richardson was named All District 24-5A, All Galveston County, AVCA Texas Player of the Week, Houston Chronicle Player of the Week, Galveston Daily News Player of the Week and Honorable Mention for LoneStarVolleyball.com’s Best Setter Award.
Sarah Richardson, 6-0 MB/RS, Houston (Germantown, Tennessee) – Named First Team All District in 2010, Richardson recorded 220 kills, 76 blocks, 251 digs and 40 aces for a 34-18 team. Said coach Becky Pendleton: “With her height, quickness and volleyball IQ, I believe she is one of the top two sophomores in the state.”
Hope Rillema, 5-10 OH, Whitehall (Michigan) – Third Team All State Class B, Rillema averaged 3.7 kills and 2.45 digs per set in 2010 while adding 60 total blocks. She is a super athletic player with a big vertical leap and strong defensive skills. Very competitive, she could be a monster as she adds finesse to her already impressive power game.
Hannah Rooks, 6-2 S/RS, Walton (Marietta, Georgia) – Rooks was named First Team All Region and First Team All State after helping Walton to a 42-7 record and the Georgia Class AAAAA state title. She set and hit for the Raiders and rarely stepped off the court. Her right side block was a huge reason Walton was able to take state. She was selected to the Area 1 AAAAA team.
Sophie Seiberth, 5-10 S, Campolindo (Moraga, California) – Smooth and smart, Sieberth set Camp to the California Division III title in 2010. She was a Second Team All-East Bay pick.

Stormy Siemion, 5-7 OH, Huntley Project (Worden, Montana) -- A two-year all-state and all-conference selection, Siemion played a major role in Huntley Project’s winning back-to-back state titles. She finished the 2010 season with 396 kills and hit .321. She also had 384 digs and 72 service aces. Siemion also earned all-state tournament first-team honors for a second year in a row.
Jennie Sindlinger, 5-11 OH, Charles City (Iowa) – Third Team All State 3A, Sindlinger put up huge numbers for Charles City in 2010, contributing 434 kills (4.4 per game), 291 digs, 52 aces and 38 blocks.
Corisha Smith, 6-0 OH, Musselman (Inwood, West Virginia) -- Smith recorded 411 kills and hit at a .246 clip in 2010 for the state AAA champions. “When she was on, she was the most dynamic hitter in the gym at most tournaments,” said coach Shawn Martz. “She is an extremely hard worker. I did not see any other sophomore in our state even close to Corisha’s level. Smith was an honorable mention all-state player and also earned first-team all-conference honors.
Jade Strawberry, 6-0 S/RS, Maclay (Tallahassee, Florida) – A huge leaper, Strawberry, daughter of the former Mets great, had 288 kills, 275 digs, 214 assists, 49 aces and 43 blocks in 2010 while earning First Team All Big Bend honors. “She can pass half the court and is as quick as a cat!” said coach Rita Buck Crockett.
Lauren Talley, 5-10 MB, St. Mark’s (Wilmington, Delaware) -- Talley was a first-team all-state and all- Catholic choice. She finished her sophomore season with 219 kills, 35 aces and 31 blocks and hit at a .344 clip. “Lauren is an outstanding all-around volleyball player,” said coach Nancy Griskowitz. “As one of our go-to hitters, she helped lead the team to the 2010 state championship. She is quick, athletic and very versatile.”
Marissa Tandron, 5-10 S, Episcopal (Jacksonville, Florida) - A captain and two-year starter, Tandron helped her team to district runner-up and regional semifinal appearances. She recorded 829 assists, 94 kills, 60 digs and 24 blocks en route to being named to the Florida Times Union All-Area team. “Marissa is the most fierce competitor I have coached in my six years at Episcopal,” coach John Dwyer said. “She hates to lose and will do whatever it takes to make sure her team is in the game. She was the team MVP for the season. She is the biggest reason we finished runner-up in a tough district this year having perhaps her best match under the pressure of the district semifinals against a team that was heavily favored to beat us.”
Bailey Tanner, 6-1 OH, San Clemente (California) – A go-to hitter on a 28-5 team that was ranked nationally the entire fall, Tanner recorded 250 kills (third best on the Titan squad; 3.3 per game) while adding 48 aces (second on team) and 107 digs. She was named Fifth Team All County by the Orange County Register.
Brittany Thomas, 5-11 MB, Hamilton (Chandler, Arizona) – Very athletic, Thomas was a big piece of Hamilton’s drive to the Class 5A title match for the first time in school history. She finished third on the team with 236 kills and was second in blocks. Able to dominate games as a hitter or blocker, Thomas was named Second Team All Region and Honorable Mention All State.
Rachel Travis, 5-10 OH, Baylor School (Chattanooga, Tennessee) -- Travis played a key role in Baylor’s taking third in the Tennessee Division II AA tournament, where she racked up 32 kills in a five-set semifinal contest. On the season, Travis had 451 kills, 390 digs, 74 aces, 25 blocks and 10 assists. She was selected to the Division II Middle/East all-regional team and was also selected to the Chattanooga Best of Preps team. Travis already has amassed 1,063 career kills and 967 digs. “This sophomore plays like a senior,” said coach Sarah Lail. “Many coaches have asked me ‘Hasn’t she graduated yet?’ I proudly reply, ‘No.’ We look forward to her continued success.”
Daniella Villarreal, 5-5 Libero, New Braunfels (Texas) – The next best libero in the San Antonio area after Penn State-bound Dominique Gonzalez, "Dano" lives to play defense, making the hard stuff look easy. She easily covers 1/2 to 2/3 of the court during serve-receive, is an excellent server and has nice hands to take the second contact. Villareal was a First Team All District and First Team All County pick.
Siena Wilder, 5-5 L, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake (Burnt Hills, New York) – A First Team All League and Second Team All State selection, Wilder averaged better than 3 digs per game in 2010 for a state tournament team. “She has a great future at libero and is a great student,” said coach Gary Bynon.
Sarah Wilhite, 5-11 OH, Eden Prairie (Minnesota) -- An honorable mention All-State selection in Class AAA, Wilhite is regarded as player with superior footwork for her age. She led Eden Prairie in kills with 426 (4.45 per set). She also topped the team in aces with 40 and blocks with 55 (as an outside hitter). She finished second on the team in digs (234) and serve receptions (377), while leading the squad in serve-receive rating. “Sarah evolved into a great leader on this team offensively by taking over many matches during the season,” Eden Prairie coach Chad Becker said. “She still shows tremendous upside with her willingness to work hard, listen and learn. She has all the signs of continuing the great tradition of Eden Prairie volleyball student-athletes.”
McKenzie Willey, 5-11 OH, Snow Canyon (St. George, Utah) – Arizona State, Utah and Brigham Young already have their sights set on Willey, whose 319 kills, 45 aces, 26 assists and 41 blocks helped her Viking team win its fifth consecutive state championship. “McKenzie is an exciting young player who is really coming into her game,” said head coach Alaina Parker. “She is a really nice player with tons of potential. Her work ethic is awesome, and she has a great attitude. She is a huge part of our program's success, and she is going to be a great volleyball player.” Willey, who touches 9-11, was named Second Team All State by both the Desert News and the Salt Lake Tribune.

Geneva Yee, 5-5 L, Pius XI (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) – First Team All Conference, HM All Area and HM All State, the intense, athletic Yee was part of a youth movement for the Popes that picked up steam as the season progressed.
Cindy Zhou, 6-0 S, Libertyville (Illinois) – Already committed to Michigan, Zhou ranked second in the state in assists per set among sophomores (7.9). Zhou tallied 571 assists, 83 kills, 81 digs and 51 aces for a Libertyville team that went 35-3 and won a conference title with a perfect 7-0 mark. Zhou was named First Team All Area and Special Mention All State by the News-Gazette.
ELITE HONORABLE MENTION
Ryan Ackermann, 5-10 OH, Stone Bridge (Ashburn, Virginia) – A powerful hitter with a big time vertical leap, Ackermann helped her 28-2 team to the Northern Region Title and to the Virginia AAA championship match, recording 301 kills, 156 digs and 38 aces. She was a Second Team All District pick and part of the Northern Region All-Tournament team.
Micaela Anderson, 6-0 OH, La Canada (California) -- Anderson helped La Canada win 30 matches and go 10-0 in league play. Anderson recorded 229 kills and had 55 digs, 23 aces and 12 blocks while fighting through injuries.
Sharon Anderson, 5-8 S, Hinsdale South (Darien, Illinois) – The Hornets had some great and shocking wins in 2010. They came with Anderson, in her first varsity season, dishing the rock. Anderson finished the year with 989 assists and added 105 digs and 32 aces. She was an all-West Suburban Conference Gold Division selection, was a key part of a Hinsdale South team that advanced all the way to a Class 4A supersectional.
Rachel Baader, 5-11 OH, Stevenson (Lincolnshire, Illinois) – All Area for the second straight year, Baader was Stevenson’s best all-around player in 2010. She recorded 187 kills and 216 digs for a 26-8 team.
Morgan Beal, 6-0 OH, Lee’s Summit North (Lee’s Summit, Kansas) -- Beal, a six-rotation outside, is a two-year starter who helped Lee’s Summit North win 20 matches this season. Beal was an honorable mention all-conference selection and earned second-team all-district recognition. She also was an academic all-state honoree. She recorded 227 kills (3.03 per set) and had 215 digs (2.9 per set).
Denise Belcher, 5-11 OH, Apopka (Florida) – A supreme athlete, Belcher had a fabulous sophomore season, recording 404 kills to go with 202 digs, 33 aces and 24 blocks en route to being named to the Orlando Sentinel all-Central Florida honorable mention team.
Jessica Bird, 5-11 OH, Bennington (Nebraska) -- Bird finished the season with 243 kills on 480 attempts (97 came from the back row). She hit .377 and also had 56 aces and 170 digs as the team’s main serve-receiver. She passed over a 2.10. Bird was an all-conference first-team pick, a second-team all-area selection and an honorable mention all-state choice for state-qualifying Bennington.
Erica Bohannon, 6-1 MB, Coppell (Texas) -- Bohannon was a 7-5A all-district first-team selection and also earned academic all-district accolades. Bohannon, the team’s offensive MVP, led the Cowgirls with 294 kills while hitting .300. She finished the year with 90 blocks. One area observer noted Bohannon was a player that had the capability of taking over games and did so during the season.
Jordan Bickett, 5-11 MB, John Paul II (Tallahassee, Florida) – Bickett was named First Team All Big Bend in 2010 after amassing 203 kills, 50 blocks, 66 aces and 99 digs.
Jessica Brezwyn, 5-9 OH, Hinsdale South (Darien, Illinois) -- Brezwyn finished the 2010 season with 323 kills, 101 digs, 64 blocks and 35 aces. She earned all-area honors from the Daily Herald and Suburban Life and was also an all-conference selection. “Jessica has made huge strides since freshman year,” said coach Lisa Martinez. “A two-year varsity starter, she won matches for us this year. She became a true six-rotation player this year and although she is young she was hard to shake. She was also a huge piece to us winning our conference and finishing high in all of our tournaments.”
Maddie Burnham, 6-1 OH, St. Ursula Academy (Toledo, Ohio) – Burnham was a Second Team All Conference selection, but don’t let that fool you. She was instrumental in helping St. Ursula bring home its second state championship. Burnham used her 9-foot-7 touch to finish second on the team in kills with 239 (hitting at a .310 efficiency clip), including 10 in the Division 1 final. “Maddie was the player that put us over the top,” said head coach John Buck. “She hits the line as well as any player who has gone through the program, and when she hits the ball it jumps out of her hand. I expect to see her playing in the Big Ten when her high school playing career is over.”

Carapella was an integral part of the Vikings’ ninth consecutive league championship and run to the CIF- SS 1A quarterfinals. She led the team in assists (957) and aces (43) while finishing second in digs with 275.
Alyssa Carney, 5-8 L, Washington Rural (Topeka, Kansas) -- Carney was a force on defense with 497 digs. She graded out at a 2.51 on serve receive and had 62 service aces. Carney helped Washburn Rural win 38 matches and earn a trophy at the state tournament.
Ashley Cheewah, 6-2 MB, Boynton Beach (Florida) – The top blocker in Palm Beach County, Cheewah had 136 rejections in 2010 while adding a team-leading 243 kills.
Saniya Chong, 5-8 OH, Ossining (New York) – Playing fewer than 70 sets in 2010, Chong nevertheless managed 327 kills, 225 digs and 40 aces. As good as she is in volleyball, Chong is even better at basketball, where she averages better than 30 points per game.
Sabrina Clayton, 5-10 OH, California (San Ramon, California) – Clayton was named First Team All-East Bay after leading the Grizzlies to a 24-7 record in 2010. Also named All League, Claton registered 421 kills, 106 digs 44 aces and 36 blocks for a team that reached the North Coast Section D-I semifinals.
Paxton Crooks, 5-8 S, Kellam (Virginia Beach, Virginia) – Very athletic, Crooks’ 842 assists helped lead the Knights to the Virginia AAA state title in 2010. Her signature play is to make an out of system play appear to be in system. She was named Second Team All Beach District.
Michelle Cruz, 5-2 Libero, Immaculate Heart Academy (Washington Township, New Jersey) – Cruz had 205 digs, a 2.90 passing average and recorded 42 aces for IHA, which ended up being ranked third in the state after winning its fourth-straight non-public state title. Cruz earned third-team all-state honors and first-team all-non public group accolades. She was also a first-team all-conference pick and a two- team all-county selection. “She is one of the top liberos in the state,” said IHSA coach Mike DeCastro. “She is extremely quick and consistent and because of her defense and serve receive, we are able to run a very successful and fast middle attack.”
Abbey Curry, 5-7 S, Plano West (Plano, Texas) – As a freshman running a 5-2 with a senior setter, Curry compiled 705 assists, 247 digs, 33 aces and 62 kills. As a sophomore, she ran a 5-1 with the poise of a senior and compiled 1,236 assists, 339 digs, 125 kills and 34 aces in 127 games. Plano West was in the toughest district in the state of Texas and still took down teams like Class 5A state champion Hebron, Class 3A state champion Lovejoy and 4A semifinalist J.J. Pearce with Curry at the helm. “Abbey is a workhorse and makes up for her size with a smooth demeanor on the court,” said head coach Brittany Bridge. Curry was named First Team All District and Honorable Mention All State.
Sydney Darden, 5-8 OH, Kellam (Virginia Beach, Virginia) – A powerful attacker, Darden finished second on the Knights with 251 kills in 2010 for the Virginia AAA champs. Darden also led Kellam in aces and was second in digs with 248.
Kristen Dodge, 5-9 S, Byrnes (Duncan, South Carolina) -- Dodge was a AAAA all-region 2 selection and was a Spartanburg Herald all-area pick. Dodge had 107 kills, 298 assists, 120 digs and 27 blocks. “Kristen ran our offense and played all-around for us,” said coach Katie Bridges. “She ran a 6-2 or a 5-1 depending on what we needed.”
Caleigh Dolese, 5-5 S, Mt. Sinai (New York) – Used everywhere on her high school team, this Louisiana native set and hit for Mount Sinai and used a powerful jump serve to score a passel of points. She was named Fourth Team All State in Class B. A club libero, she is very strong in serve receive. Long Island United club director Charles Fernandes said that Dolese, who is “ripped,” is on pace to be the best defender the club has ever had.
Heather Eggers, 5-6 L, Lakewood (California) – A full-time starter at libero for the Lancers, Eggers had a team-high 296 digs in 2010 and was integral in wins over teams ranked among the nation’s elite. A hard worker who also is a skilled setter, Eggers also contributed 45 aces to the Lancer cause.
Dani Eschweiler, 5-10 OH, St. Charles West (St. Charles, Missouri) – Behind Eschweiler’s 4.09 kills per game (282 total), St. Charles West won its first conference title in 15 years in 2010. A well-rounded player and team leader, Eschweiler also contributed 186 digs and 33 blocks and was named First Team All Conference.
Morgan Evans, 5-8 S, Colorado Springs Christian (Colorado Springs, Colorado) – The Lions’ state-title streak ended in 2010, but the era of producing top talent continues with Evans, who had 937 assists for a 25-4 team. Evans was a Second Team All State pick in Class 3A.
Morgan Fioritto, 5-9 OH, Notre Dame Academy (Toledo, Ohio) – A pure athlete with great serve receive skills and court awareness that is unusual for a sophomore, Fioritto averaged 2.2 kills and 1.9 digs per game this season for a Notre Dame Academy team that won 15 matches. Fioritto earned First Team All City and All-District 7 honorable mention honors.
Maliah Fligg, 6-0 S/MB, Clear Creek-Amana (Tiffin, Iowa) – A do-it-all player who controlled the net for the Clippers in 2010, Fligg had 285 assists, 78 blocks, 149 digs and a team-leading 164 kills in 2010 and is a big reason CCA volleyball has had a major turnaround in the last year.

Haley Garr, 5-10 MB, Silver Creek (Sellersburg, Indiana) – A dominant player for Silver Creek for a second consecutive year, Garr led the team to a 29-8 record in 2010 and another regional championship. She had a team-leading 255 kills, a team-leading 116 blocks and led the state of Indiana with 168 aces. She was a Second Team All Area pick.
Annie Goerdt, 5-9 OH, Preble (Green Bay, Wisconsin) – Blessed with great court awareness, a high volleyball I.Q. and superior defensive skills, Goerdt had 232 kills, 256 digs and 38 aces in 87 games in 2010. She earned First Team All Conference and Second Team All Area honors. “The best comment that I heard from other players that played against her in high school was not that they got beat by Preble but they got beat by Annie,” said her club coach.
Kaitlyn Granger, 5-10 OH, Arlington (Texas) -- Granger followed up a newcomer all-district selection as a freshman in 2009 by being named to the utility all-district team this past season. Granger finished the year with 481 kills (3.7 per set) and 312 digs. “Kaitlyn is a fun and exciting player to watch with a great attitude,” Arlington coach Sue Cauley said.
MacKenzie Hail, 5-9 S, Travis (Richmond, Texas) – A First team All District and First Team All Area selection, Hail had 883 assists, 186 digs and 35 aces for Travis to run her career records to 1,391 assist, 271 digs and 83 aces. She was the top sophomore setter in District 23-5A and the No. 5 sophomore setter in the state statistically. “MacKenzie helped carry the team to a Regional final and to the Bi- District match this season,” said head coach Dana Anderson. “She plays a 5-1 and never comes out of a single match. We could not have managed without her and I look forward to seeing her play the next two years here as well as in college.”
Emily Hardesty, 6-2 MB/S, Trinity Christian (Addison, Texas) – A First Team All District and Second Team All State selection, Hardesty’s speed to the ball and clean hands made her a successful setter in her first year in the position. She also led the team in solo blocks out of the middle. Hardesty excels in the classroom where she has a 4.3 GPA and was a History/English Award winner.
Melissa Hoerber, 5-8 S, Fulton (Missouri) -- Hoerber provided an all-around game for a Fulton club that hit the 25-win barrier this season. Not only did she record 596 assists, but she also had 147 kills, 180 digs and put down 86 service aces. Hoerber was honored with an UnderArmour player of the week award this season. Hoerber was also an all-conference and all-district selection. “Melissa is the glue of our team,” coach Megan Harrick pointed out. “As a sophomore she was unanimously selected as a team captain by her teammates because they see what everyone else sees: her strong leadership, her positive disposition and her commitment to improving both as an individual and as a team.”
McKenzie Hollen, 5-2 S, Oak Hall (Gainesville, Florida) -- Hollen tallied 692 assists, 192 digs, 58 kills, 208 service points (63 aces) for Oak Hall this past season. Hollen was a Gainesville Sun all-area first- team choice. “She is one of the most unselfish players I have ever coached,” said coach Cari Martin. “She is small, but hustles and plays like she is big. She also has a great vertical, which helps. She has great court sense and could really play any position on the court. In my opinion, McKenzie defines how we would like every student-athlete to be.”
Breanna Homer, 5-10 OH, La Grange (Texas) -- Homer, thought by some as a potential future collegiate libero prospect because of her height and strong back row play, was a Texas Girls Coaches Association all-state selection and earned district MVP honors. “Breanna is athletic and explosive and is a great defensive player,” noted one area observer.
Elizabeth Hoover, 5-11 S, St. Mary’s (Stockton, California) – A first-year starter, Hoover delivered 1,123 assists for the CIF SJS Section champs while adding 139 digs and 35 aces in 2010.
Hannah Hubbard, 5-7 OH, Santa Fe Christian (Solana Beach, California) – A smaller outside who will probably be a libero at the next level, Hubbard used her hops and incredible court vision to record 275 kills (3.0 per game) in 2010, which tied for the team lead. She was second in digs (285) and aces (20) as well. “Hannah just gets the job done and is very frustrating for our opponents that try to block her,” said coach Gail Malone. Hubbard was a Second Team All Division IV pick.
Scottie Ingram, 6-0 MB, Eastern Greene (Bloomfield, Indiana) – Ingram led the Thunderbirds to their first regional appearance in school history and the school's best record (35-2) in any female sport in the history of the school. Ingram set a school record with 423 kills while hitting at an impressive .430 percentage clip. She also had 89 blocks, 317 digs and scored 255 points on serves. The Thunderbirds’

Co-Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, Ingram was named All Conference for the second year in a row and was named to the Greene County All Area First Team.
Sasha Karelov, 5-8 OH, Leesville Road (Raleigh, North Carolina) -- Karelov, regarded as one of the top liberos in her age group in the nation on the club scene, racked up 317 kills, 243 digs and also had 84 aces—all tops on the team in 2010. Karelov was tabbed the team’s MVP and earned an all-conference first-team nod.
Ally Karle, 6-1 MB, Mount Olive (New Jersey) – Karle made an instant impact on Mount Olive, becoming the Marauders' offensive leader with 404 kills and 98 blocks. A member of the NJAC American First Team, she also served 79 aces, dug up 89 balls and had eight assists. She set school records for kills in a match (25) and blocks in a season. “Ally is becoming quickly an unstoppable force in the New Jersey high school volleyball scene,” said head coach John E. Titus III of rival Parsippany High School. “I coached Ally in summer camps at Rutgers University where I learned she is not just a great volleyball player, but also a wonderful kid who truly enjoys playing the game for the right reasons.” Karle was named Third Team All State Group IV and First Team All Morris County.
Meg Kinee, 5-4 L, Williamstown (New Jersey) -- Kinee was a first-team all-South Jersey and a first- team all-Olympic Conference selection. She also earned all-Group IV third-team statewide honors. Kinee paced the team with 296 digs and was one of three passers in each of the team’s six serve receive rotations. “Meg has gained valuable experience, which led to an outstanding sophomore season,” said coach Chris Sheppard. “We won a state championship built on a balanced offense and tenacious defense and Meg was our best defender.”
Taylor Krause, 5-5 S, Parkland (Allentown, Pennsylvania) – Krause was one of the top sophomore assist makers in the country in 2010. Named First Team All Area, Krause was a coach on the floor for father, Mike, amassing 908 assists and 51 aces for a 25-win team. She led the state of Pennsylvania in assists per set (10.7) and set her team to a. 363 hitting percentage and .503 kill percentage.
Hannah Kren, 5-8 OH, Wisconsin Lutheran (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) – Though she was one of the youngest players on the varsity squad, Kren was the player her teammates looked to when a big play was needed. Blessed with a strong arm and good vision, Kren slammed 393 kills in 99 games in 2010, adding 417 digs and 46 aces. She was a Second Team All Conference pick and Honorable Mention All State.
Erika Lane, 5-10 S/RS, Washburn Rural (Topeka, Kansas) -- Lane had 300 kills and averaged 6.3 assists per game and recorded 38 service aces in 2010. She helped Washburn Rural win 38 matches and earn a berth in the state tournament.
Kerry Lane, 5-9 S, Amphitheater (Tucson, Arizona) – Lane, who set the Panthers to the Arizona 4A semifinals in 2009, had another fine year in 2010, compiling 1054 assists and 102 aces for a 28-4 team.
Emily Lauth, 5-9 S, Findlay (Ohio) – A First team All League selection, Lauth led Findlay with 733 assists, was third in aces with 48, fourth in digs with 128 and served at 91.7 percent. She was one of four sophomore starters on a team that finished 21-6 (all six losses to state-ranked teams) and reached the Regional semifinals.
Emiline Lazzeri, 6-0 OH, Indian Rocks Christian (Largo, Florida) – A top player on offense and defense, Lazzeri contributed 233 kills, 199 digs, 49 blocks and a team-leading 65 aces to a 23-7 team in 2010. She was named First Team All Conference and Honorable Mention All County. “She is one of those players that you can't afford to have off the floor,” said coach Mark Foster.
Chloe Lott, 5-9 RS, St. Francis (Mountain View, California) – Honorable Mention All League and All Area, Lott, the Palo Alto Daily’s Newcomer of the Year, had 11 kills in the state final as the Lancers won state for the first time since 2003. The daughter of NFL Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, Chloe Lott has great speed and quick-twitch ability. She had 220 kills on the season and her blocking helped slow down many top notch outside hitters.
Nicole Lott, 6-0 OH, Bishop Shanahan (Downington, Pennsylvania) – Lott averaged 3.0 kills and 3.4 digs per set for a 26-win team in 2010. She was named First Team All League and All State in Class AAA.
Kiara McKibben, 5-10 S, Doherty (Colorado Springs, Colorado) – A transfer from Cheyenne Mountain, McKibben stepped into a starting role from Day 1 on a team that only graduated only one senior from the year before and took the Spartans back to the 5A Final Four. McKibben was part of a 6-2 offense early in the year but was running the team all by herself by the time state came around. Playing in 103 games, she registered 696 assists, 94 kills, 58 blocks and 143 digs. “She is a very steady player in her demeanor and attitude,” said coach Julie Ortiz. “She ran the best slide attack in the state with Kelsey English. Kiara is and will be a great a leader for this program.”

Michaela Mestl, 5-6 OH, Kearney Catholic (Kearney, Nebraska) -- Mestl was an Omaha World-Herald all-Nebraska Class C-1 second-team selection and was also named to the Nebraska Class C-1 all-state tournament team. Mestl helped Kearney Catholic finish second in the state. The Kearney Hub Territory Player of the Year led the team in kills (307), aces (39) and was second in hitting percentage (.262) and digs (344).
Samantha Meyers, 6-0 MB, Grundy Center (Iowa) – Third Team All State 2A, Meyers contributed 274 kills, 254 digs and 62 aces for the 27-3 Spartans in 2010.
Erica Moser, 6-0 OH, Williamsville East (East Amherst, New York) -- Moser was a one-woman wrecking crew, leading an inexperienced Williamsville East team to the Class A sectional finals with a 32-kill effort in the semifinals. Able to touch 9-9, Moser was an all-Western New York large school first-team selection and was a Class A all-state fourth-team pick. “Erica dominated from the front row and the back with her attacking, jump serve and big blocking,” noted a rival coach. “She can play all three attacking positions and hits and blocks effectively from anywhere on the net.”
Samantha Mosher, 6-0 OH, Greenwood (Bowling Green, Kentucky) – A two-year starter, Mosher registered 345 kills, 274 digs and 87 aces as a sophomore. She is a hard worker with a strong leftside strike and a superb jump float serve. She made the All-District team and was Region-All Tournament MVP. “Samantha works hard and has the competitive drive that cannot be taught,” said coach Holly Whittinghill. “Even in silly games she wants to win and pushes the players around her to do their best to win as well.”
Maddie Moyer, 5-6 S, Sherwood (Maryland) – Moyer guided the undefeated Warriors (19-0 without dropping a set) to Maryland’s Class 4A title with 548 assists, 54 aces, 32 kills and 85 digs while never leaving the court while running a 5-1 set. A First team All County selection, Moyer had 33 assists in the state championship match. “Maddie has great hands and is a very smart player,” said head coach Brian McCarty. “She got the ball to her hitters with great accuracy and showed pristine decision-making on the court. Maddie surprised defenses with quick dumps and poses a threat with a tough float jump from the service line.”
Carolyn Nojiri, 5-6 L, Downers Grove North (Downers Grove, Illinois) -- Nojiri started the season as a hitter, but moved to libero due to her innate quickness and ability to read hitters. “The top libero in our state is Caroline Njedospial, who signed with Northwestern,” said coach Mark Wasik. “As a sophomore, Carolyn has the chance to be as good if not better than her by the time she is a senior.” Nojiri finished with 344 digs this season. Kayla Ostrom, 5-9, S, Harrison (West Lafayette, Indiana) – The All-Hoosier Crossroads Conference Honorable Mention and Journal and Courier First Team All Area led Harrison to a No. 7 ranking in Class 4A with a school-record 934 assists, 42 blocks, 163 digs and team-high 53 aces. “Kayla is one of our best all-around players,” said head coach Lori Janssen. “She could have been our starting libero or a starting outside hitter for us this year, and those are the positions that she has been accustomed to. This year, we needed her to set, as we didn't have a clear-cut option for that position. She did a terrific job and was a huge reason for our success. She began setting for the first time ever in June and led one of the top offenses in the state of Indiana. She set a school record for assists, and as a team we hit nearly .300 for the first time in my career at Harrison.”
Lauren Overby, 5-10 S, Lake Mary (Florida) -- Overby notched 919 assists, 48 kills, 41 digs, 26 blocks and 4 aces this year. A second-team all-conference selection and an honorable mention all-Central Florida pick, Overby helped the team win a district title for the first time since 1997. “Lauren had a great high school season for us,” said Lake Mary coach Travers Green. “Lauren has a very bright future in our program. We’re looking forward to seeing her grow.”
McKenna Painton, 5-7 OH, Centennial (Bakersfield, California) – Painton had a huge impact on the success of the undefeated Southwest Yosemite League and Central Section Division I champions. The team’s No. 2 outside hitter behind Virginia Tech recruit Alyssa Gammel, Painton was a unanimous All League selection and Second Team All Area choice after amassing 227 kills, 350 digs and 41 aces in 2010. “McKenna is an amazingly fast and successful defensive player,” said head coach Brooke Robert. “Next season, she will be our best athlete and may even have some setting duties. McKenna is a gifted, hard working, versatile volleyball player who says little and does much.”
Keely Palla, 5-9 OH, Garces Memorial (Bakersfield, California) -- A huge part of the Lady Rams’ success story in 2010, Palla played all the way around, tallying 224 kills (2.4 per game), 227 digs and 45 aces for a 28-13 team that reached the Central Section Division I semifinals. Keely earned First Team South East Yosemite League honors and was All-Area Honorable Mention. Not only is Palla a hard worker in the gym, she also challenges herself in the classroom and carries a GPA that puts her in the top three percent of her sophomore class.
Gabriella Palmeri, 5-10 OH, St. Francis (Sacramento, California ) – First Team All League and Second Team All-Metro, Palmieri was the “2 punch” to All-American Zoe Nightingale in St. Francis’ attack. Palmieri finished 2010 with 250 kills, 215 digs and 40 aces for a 31-8 CIF SJS finals team.
Sara Parker, 6-0 MB/RS, Mohawk (Sycamore, Ohio) -- Parker was an all-Ohio Division II honorable mention choice as well as an all-District 6 first-team selection. The Midland Athletic League player of the year and Wyandot County player of the year had a league-leading 363 kills and hit .464, while registering 97 total blocks.
Katie Pierce, 6-0 MB, La Canada (California) – Pierce was league MVP and named Second Team All Area from two publications after leading the Spartans to a 30-4 record in 2010. She finished the year with 232

Morgan Reardon, 5-10 OH, Joliet Catholic (Joliet, Illinois) – Many expected Joliet Catholic to fall back to the pack after graduating most of its players – including Chicago Sun-Times Player of the Year Annemarie Hickey – from back-to-back state title teams. But Reardon refused to listen to the team’s critics. Her 278 kills, 37 blocks, 249 digs and 145 service points helped lead the Angels back to the Class 3A championship match. “She definitely was one of our go-to hitters and often led the team in kills,” said head coach Chris Scheibe. “She plays with such an ease and confidence that it is sometimes hard to remember that she is only a sophomore.”
Caroline Redmond, 5-10 OH, Buchholz (Gainesville, Florida) -- Redmond pounded home 358 kills to go with 51 digs, 22 blocks, 20 aces and 137 service points in 2010. She was a Gainesville Sun Class 3A-6A first-team selection and the Bobcats’ offensive player of the year.
Casey Rieger, 6-0 OH, Providence (Charlotte, North Carolina) – First Team All Area and SW 4A POY, Rieger led a 27-5 team in kills (240) while adding 194 digs and 38 aces.
Kiki Robinson, 5-9 S/OH, Liberty (Bakersfield, California) – A great athlete and strong leader, Robinson is physically dominant at the net and can set any pass. Robinson finished 2010 with 393 assists, 251 digs, 151 kills and 49 blocks. She was Second Team All League in 2010 and made the All-Tournament team at the Clovis Invitational.
Brooke Sassin, 5-10 OH, Reagan (San Antonio, Texas) –Sassin has a quick jump and powerful arm that accounted for 389 kills (3.2 per set) for the Rattlers in 2010.
Mary Beth Shoaff, 5-8 S, Hollywood Hills (Florida) – The Sun-Sentinel All Area performer had 495 assists, 184 digs and 110 kills in 2010.
Cierra Simpson, 6-1 MB, Doherty (Colorado Springs, Colorado) – First Team All Conference in 2010, Simpson was one of the go-to hitters on a Spartan team that reached the Colorado 5A semifinals for the second straight year. She played in all 103 games for Doherty and had 172 kills, 83 blocks and 87 digs and passed a 2.01. “She is a born leader,” said coach Julie Ortiz. “Even with a team of nine seniors, Cierra had a very strong voice on this team.”
Bailey Sparkman, 5-10 OH, Francis Howell (St. Charles, Missouri) – An unsung player on the 24-8 district champs, Sparkman led Howell in digs in 2010 with 288 and aces with 49 and was second in kills with 174 and did it all on a gimpy ankle that limited her play during the fall season.
Maggie Speaks, 5-10 MB/S, Camden (South Carolina) – Named All State in Class 3A, Speaks amassed 204 kills, 110 blocks, 141 digs, 178 assists and 51 aces for the Bulldogs in 2010. She was one of just three sophomores across all classifications to be recognized with All State honors.
Tani Stephens, 5-8 OH, West Albany (Albany, Oregon) – A gym rat and sand rat, one club coach said that she’s Manny Pacquiao. “Pound for pound (inch for inch), she’s the best. She trains from the heart - no one out works or her or out trains her.” Stephens was First Team All State in Oregon’s 5A classification for the 22-3 Bulldogs.
Samantha Streibick, 5-10 MB, Monroe (Ohio) -- An all-Southwest Buckeye League honoree, Streibick led Monroe in kills this season with 237 and was one of the top defensive players on the squad with 163 digs. She also paced Monroe in blocks (89) and aces (52). “Not only do her stats speak to the level of play, but also what she manages to do for the team,” said coach Stephanie Stenger. “She is one of the hardest-working players I have ever seen as well as the most determined.”
Megan Tallman, 5-9 S, Wauconda (Illinois) – First Team All Conference and All Area for the second straight year, Tallman is a defensive-minded setter with an improving offensive game that resulted in 164 kills in 2010. Athletic and jump touching 9-8, Tallman also had 81 aces, 167 digs and 518 assists.
Holly Tarvin, 6-0 MB, Blue Springs (Missouri) -- Tarvin, a two-year starter, was a key part of a Blue Springs squad that won 25 matches this season. Tarvin finished the year with 220 kills, 237 digs and had 28 aces. She was a first-team all-district pick and earned second-team all-conference honors. “Holly took on a very large role for us this season,” said coach Katie Grusing. “She was a defensive force to be reckoned with at the net, coming up with big blocks against some of the best middles in the state. Offensively, she turned up her game intensity and was a person we could depend on to get a kill. Kansas City volleyball has not even begun to see the best of this kid.”
Brandi Torr, 5-4, S, La Cueva (Albuquerque, New Mexico) – A fireplug, Torr was an Honorable Mention All State, First Team All District and Second Team All Metro selection for La Cueva in 2010.
Idi Uffen, 6-0 MB, Williamstown (New Jersey) -- Uffen was an all-Group IV statewide third-team choice. She also earned second-team all-South Jersey honors and was a first-team all-conference pick. She hit .300 this season with 95 kills and had 53 stuff blocks on defense. “With her size, build and athletic ability, it was not uncommon for me to speak with a club or college coach about her after many of our matches,” said coach Chris Sheppard.
Genesis Viera, 5-8 S, Harmony (Florida) -- Viera finished the season with 775 assists and led the Longhorns to the Florida 4A regional semifinals and a 25-3 mark. Viera earned Orlando Sentinel all- Orange County honors and all-Central Florida honorable mention accolades.

Athletic (LVIAC) Conference and Second Team Pennsylvania District XI, Wallitsch amassed 1,072 assists to push her career total at Emmaus to 1,716. She also had 268 digs this fall to go with 232 as a freshman. “Lisa leads by example and is a fantastic athlete,” said head coach Gwen Hoffman. “Even as a freshman last year, I had every confidence in her to lead the offensive charge on the court. She did a wonderful job again for us this year. I believe she is the best setter in our district. She is confident, strong, intelligent and accepts any challenge put in front of her. Her stats and on-court presence speak for themselves.”
Leanna Willer, 5-9 OH, Elkhorn (Nebraska) – A dynamic athlete and strong student, Willer earned Class B all-state second-team accolades in 2010 after amassing more than 250 kills and almost 50 aces and 40 blocks. She also was a primary passer for the team.
Justine Wong-Orantes, 5-6 S, Los Alamitos (California) – A great athlete and beach star, Wong- Orantes recorded 474 assists, 186 digs and 22 aces while sharing the setting duties in 2010 for a top national team. “Justine led the team in games played for the second year in a row,” said head coach Dave Huber. “While she may not get the stats that other setters will, she is more than capable of running the offense for anyone. She could be a libero or even our emergency outside this season. She can make things happen from just about anywhere. Justine's knowledge of the game and court awareness are as good as anyone.”
HIGH HONORABLE MENTION
Kayla Agae, 5-10 OH, Silverado (Las Vegas, Nevada) – The First Team All Sunrise Region selection and team MVP powered Silverado’s offense and finished with 223 kills, 134 digs, 40 aces and 17 solo blocks. Agae is well on her way to rewriting the school’s record books with 443 career kills and 93 aces.
Karley Allen, 5-10 MB, New Kent (Virginia) – On the floor in all six rotations, Allen led her high school team in seven statistical categories in 2010, including kills (250), digs (186) and aces (80). She is an aggressive and creative hitter who thrives on one foot behind the setter. Allen was named to the All- District First Team, making her the first sophomore in New Kent Volleyball history to be so-honored. She was a Second Team All Region selection.
Lyndsey Anderson, 5-8 S, Spanish Springs (Sparks, Nevada) – Anderson led Spanish Springs to its best record and highest finish in the Desert League (third) while leading the team in assists and service percentage. She was also second in blocks, third in digs and aces and fourth in kills. “Lyndsey has incredible work ethic, athletic ability and leadership skills,” said head coach Frank Sandomenico. “Her ability to attack as a front row setter caused problems for other teams.”
Corie Bain, 5-11, S, Mira Costa (Manhattan Beach, California) – A feisty player with loads of athletic ability, Bain was named to the all-Bay League second team and was an all-tournament selection at the California Challenge at Torrey Pines. “Corie set for Mira Costa for the first time this season and made great strides,” said coach Lisa Arce Zimmerman. “As a setter, Corie had to adapt to being a leader on the court despite being an underclassmen. Her competitive nature and intense work ethic helped her take the tough role as setter in stride.”
Stacey Benton, 5-7 RS, Snow Canyon (St. George, Utah) – A Third Team All State selection by the Desert News, Benton is evolving into a dynamic player for the five-time defending state champions. “She has a cannon of an arm and a jump serve to be reckoned with,” said head coach Alaina Parker. “She isn't very big, but she hustles and makes some great plays. She is a huge asset to our program, and she forces the other kids to work hard and be better.” Benton finished the season with 117 kills, including 24 in the state tournament, from the right side, 84 assists, 68 Aces (15 in the state tournament), 149 digs and 31 blocks.
Annie Bierman, 5-9 OH, Lakota West (West Chester, Ohio) – When injuries started piling up, Bierman stepped in and became a key contributor for Lakota West this season. Her play helped the team go 22-5 and finish second in the region. Bierman serve-received 202 balls with only 22 errors and also had 231 digs (2.8 per set). She also had 198 kills (2.4 per set), 19 service aces and 21 blocks. “She stepped up and helped us and was a major contributor to the team,” said Lakota West coach Tracey Kornau.
Katie Bradley, 6-1 MB, Sacred Heart (Louisville, Kentucky) – The team leader in hitting percentage and blocks (140), Bradley is a fierce and intense competitor whose post-play celebrations have the ability to spark the entire team. A good jumper, she can hit over most blocks and her slide attack is virtually unstoppable. She had 191 kills in 2010.
Ali Burroughs, 5-9 MB, Friendship Christian (Lebanon, Tennessee) – A middle with setter skills, Burroughs recorded 315 kills, 78 blocks, 81 aces, 142 digs and 36 assists in 2010. She was good enough to earn All State consideration.
Abby Cash, 6-0 S/RS, Miami East (Casstown, Ohio) – First Team All Conference and First Team All District, Cash had 217 assists in a three-setter offense for the 21-3 Vikings in 2010. She also contributed 156 kills, 27 aces and 41 blocks. Cash was the most consistent player on Miami East’s team according to coach John Cash. “She is go to player and big game player with solid athleticism,” he added. “She is a huge reason why there has been a resurgence in the MEHS volleyball program. Her leadership skills and drive to win may actually be more important than her overalls skills which are very solid!”
Monica Claxton, 5-7 S, Franklin (El Paso, Texas) – Named to the All-District 1-5A team in 2010, Claxton amassed 532 assists, 250 digs and 45 aces for her team.

Kaleigh Cole, 5-10 S, Nixa (Missouri) – Cole recorded 747 assists and 297 digs for a 27-10 team in 2010.
Claire Crutchfield, 6-1 OH, Bishop O’Connell (Arlington, Virginia) -- Crutchfield ranked 16th in the Washington Post’s All-Met kill leaders. A powerful do- everything outside hitter, Claire led her Bishop O'Connell team to an appearance in the Virginia Independent Schools Volleyball Association semi-finals, losing to eventual state champion Flint Hill. Never coming off the court, Claire finished the season leading her team with 299 kills, while adding 83 digs and 70 aces. She was named First Team Division I All-State and a member of the VISVA State All- Tournament team.
Danielle Davis, 5-8 OH, Central Catholic (Bloomington, Illinois) – Special Mention All State, Davis had a team-high 327 kills and a team-high 307 digs in 2010 for the Saints, who reached the Illinois 2A semifinals.
Melissa Deatsch, 5-11 OH, York (Elmhurst, Illinois) – Deatsch played a key role in the Dukes’ advancing to the Class 4A state semifinals in 2010. A defensive wiz, Deatsch finished the season with 252 kills, 239 digs, 44 blocks and 39 aces.
Olivia DenHartigh, 6-1 OH, South Christian (Grand Rapids, Michigan) – This long-armed striker began showing her unlimited potential last fall when her play garnered her HM All State Class B honors.
Brittanee Dewine, 5-11 OH, Springfield Catholic Central (Springfield, Ohio) – First Team All Conference, First Team All County, Second Team All Area and Honorable Mention All District, Dewine was one of the top terminators (3.9 kills per game) and blockers (1.0 per game) in her area in 2010.
Miranda Duesenberry, 5-9 OH, Cedar Falls (Iowa) – Duesenberry was named First Team All Conference, First Team All Area and Special Mention All State in 2010. She led the Tigers in hitting, averaging 3.5 kills per set.
Alyssa Ehrhardt, 5-11 OH, Jacobs (Algonquin, Illinois) – Competing in a conference that produced the No. 1-ranked team in the country for much of the season – Cary-Grove – Ehrhardt more than held her own against some national-caliber competition and earned All Conference and All Area honors. She had 19 kills to lead Jacobs to its first victory over league foe Prairie Ridge in more than six years. “She played all the way around for me, jump served and was a fabulous young leader,” said head coach Lisa Dwyer.
Skyler Erickson, 5-7 OH, Cedar Valley (Burwell, Nebraska) -- Erickson earned Omaha World-Herald all- Nebraska Class D-1 first team honors and also was named to the Lincoln Journal Star all-state Class D-1 first team after helping lead Cedar Valley to a 33-2 mark. She finished the year with 315 kills.
Alexa Ethridge, 5-7 S, Lee’s Summit North (Lee’s Summit, Kansas) -- Ethridge has played every point in every set in her first two seasons. Already a two-year team captain, Ethridge recorded 693 assists and helped Lee’s Summit North win 20 matches this season. Already second all-time on the school’s career assist ladder with 1,585 (and should be a slam dunk to break the school record of 1,814 as a junior next year), Ethridge earned honorable mention all-conference honors, was a second-team all-district appointee and was an academic all-state selection. Ashley Evans, 6-1 MB/RS, Lakota East (Liberty Township, Ohio) -- Evans finished the season with 228 kills, 180 digs, 49 aces and 39 blocks in helping Lakota East to an 18-win season. Evans had 21 kills in a five-set loss to rival Lakota West to end the season.
Javoni Faucette, 6-0 OH, Francis Howell (St. Charles. Missouri) – The younger sister of Texas star Juliann Faucette, the talented sophomore had 156 kills with a hitting percentage of .269, 32 aces and 26 blocks. A First team All Conference and First team All District selection for the 24-8 district champions, Faucette’s statistics would have been even more impressive had she not had to sit out two weeks to rehabilitate a shoulder injury.
Abby Fesl, 5-10 S, Hersey (Arlington Heights, Illinois) -- Fesl, the younger sister of Notre Dame’s Megan Fesl, ran a 5-1 offense and developed into one of the area’s best setters. She earned Champaign News Gazette honorable mention all-state accolades. She finished with 931 assists and added 30 service aces, 282 digs, 28 blocks and 55 kills. “She had an outstanding high school season stepping into a role as our team leader,” said coach Nancy Lill. “She has great hands, plays solid defense and is a solid all-around player. The future is very bright for Abby.”
Avalon Frantz, 5-8 S, Boulder City (Nevada) – Boulder City won the 3A Zone championship and reached the semifinals of the state tournament behind Frantz, who was named First Team All League, Second Team All State and 2011 Player of the Season. Frantz broke the school record for assists (642 or 8.6 per set) and aces (111). But her achievements go beyond the volleyball court. Frantz also ranks No. 1 in her class with a 4.25 GPA, is the Sophomore Class President, is President of the National Junior Honor

Taylor Greenan, 5-4 OH, Cardinal Ritter (Indianapolis, Indiana) -- Greenan averaged 3.27 kills per set and 2.46 digs per set this past season in addition to recording 63 aces. “Kim is a super passer who plays all the way around,” said Ritter coach Kim Wildman. “She will be a DS in college.”
Emma Hanson, 5-10 MB, Washington (Sioux Falls, South Dakota) -- Hanson led the team in kills with 273, but was only third on the team in attack attempts. She hit .304 for the season and also had 62 blocks. Hanson earned an all-conference second-team selection and was also an all-state second-team pick. Hanson was also voted on the state all-tournament team. “Emma is a great representative of Warrior volleyball and Washington High School both on and off the court,” said coach LaDawn Nesje. Nikki Hess, 5-10 OH, Horizon (Scottsdale, Arizona) – Very talented, Hess’ 199 kills and 203 digs in 2010 helped the Huskies win another Arizona 5A-II title. Hess was named HM All Area.
Bridget Justis, 5-4 L, Ozark (Missouri) – Opponents found few openings to hit with Justis roaming the court for Ozark. Justis compiled 490 digs (5.8 digs per game) for the Missouri Class 4A state finalists. “Bridget did a great job playing the backrow,” said head coach Rebecca Justis.
Loxley Keala, 5-11 S/OH, Iolani (Honolulu, Hawaii) – One of the best players on her high school team, Keala set and hit for one of the Island’s top teams. She earned Second Team All-ILH honors.
Bailey Kirchoff, 5-5 OH, Tripoli (Iowa) – Named Second Team All State in Class 1A, Kirchoff was second on the state champs in kills, slamming 210 in 2010. She also finished second in digs with 252 and added 39 aces.
Marissa Kline, 5-11 S, Luxemburg-Casco (Luxemburg, Wisconsin) -- Kline registered 1,197 assists and also amassed 135 digs, 79 kills, 36 aces and 31 block kills on her way to a second-team all-Bay pick and a second-team selection from the Green Bay Press Gazette. “Marissa was the most improved player that I have ever coached,” said coach Ryan Schopf. “She stepped in and ran a fast, high-paced offense that led the team to a 41-9 season.”
Elissa Knipp, 5-9 OH, Lee’s Summit (Missouri) – Knipp reaped First team All Conference, First Team All District, Second Team All Region and Honorable Mention All State honors after compiling 208 kills, 251 digs, 36 blocks and 23 aces for Lee’s Summit in 2010.
Katie Krueger, 6-2 MB, Tampa Prep (Tampa, Florida) -- Krueger recorded 281 kills and hit .395 for a Class 2A Final Four team in 2010. “Katie is a future star in our sport,” said coach Mike Flynn. “Katie was critical to our success this season. Defensively she is our shutdown blocker. Offensively, she was our go- to side-out attack. She has the ability to hit fastballs or high balls. She has worked hard on her ball control as well.” Krueger was statistically ranked No. 3 in the state among sophomores by one national statistical service.
Katie Laban, 5-8 S/OH, Reeths-Puffer (Muskegon, Michigan) – The Rockets’ best player the past two years, Laban contributed 467 assists, 61 kills and 101 aces in 76 games in 2010. A gym and beach rat, Laban’s 26-inch jump and strong arm contribute to her dynamic game.
Laini Leindecker, 5-10 OH, New Philadelphia (Ohio) -- Leindecker finished the season with 383 kills, 315 digs and 48 aces. Leindecker was a fist-team ECOL pick and District V first-team choice and an honorable mention all-Ohio selection. “Laini is a natural-born leader,” said assistant coach Kelly Miller. “She is very determined to lead her team to success. Her desire to win is unmatched by any player I have coached. It’s a privilege watching her develop into the player she has become.”
Michelle Lutz,5-5 L, Clear Creek-Amana (Tiffin, Iowa) -- A unanimous All-Conference choice as well as All-District and Honorable Mention All-State, Lutz, who was named team co-Captain as a sophomore, finished the 2010 season ranked in the top five in Iowa in digs per set with 6.03. She had a season high of 57 digs in a five-set late season conference win.
Brenna Mack, 5-7 OH, Mound-Westonka (Mound, Minnesota) -- Mack was an all-Wright County Conference pick after recording 342 kills and 39 service aces last fall. “Brenna is a force to be reckoned with both in the front and back row,” said coach Katie Jo O’Gara. “Her consistency is a key in our team play. Her ability to communicate with her teammates on offense and defense ensures success for all players.”
Sydney Mast, 6-0 MB, Central Christian (Kidron, Ohio) -- A two-year starter, Mast led Central Christian in kills with 255 (3.5 per set). She also was tops on the team in solo blocks (45) and finished third in aces with 30. Mast earned first-team all-district accolades after leading the team to a 15-win season. Mast is already in the top 10 in program history in kills after only two varsity seasons.
Megan Meyer, 5-7 S, Fontainebleau (Mandeville, Louisiana) – Starting at setter for one of Louisiana’s top teams, Meyer did not disappoint, handing out 1,108 assists to go along with 193 digs in 2010.
Amanda Mohney, 5-10 S, Mattawan (Michigan) – Mohney had 1379 assists and 177 digs for a 43-16-1 Mattawan team that came within three wins of playing for the state Class A title in 2010.
Mackensie Mosley, 5-7 S, St. Paul’s Episcopal (Mobile, Alabama) -- Mosley has been the team’s starting setter the last two years, directing it to a runner-up state finish in 2009 and a state championship in 2010. Alex Mueller, 5-7 S, Eastside (Gainesville, Florida) -- Mueller racked up 678 assists to go with 204 digs, 69 kills and recorded 211 service points. Mueller was a Gainesville Sun Class 3A-6A second-team pick.
Mattie Newson, 5-8 OH, Charlotte Country Day (Charlotte, North Carolina) – First Team All Area, Newson recorded 131 kills, a team-high 54 aces and team-high 333 digs for the Buccaneers in 2010.
Drew Norberg, 6-1 MB, South Tahoe (South Lake Tahoe, California) – Considered the best middle in her class in Nevada, Norberg earned First Team All League, First Team All-Northern Nevada and Second Team All State 3A honors in 2010, excelling as a blocker, hitter and server.
Shannon Nugent, 6-0 MB, Vernon Hills (Illinois) – In 90 games played in 2010, Nugent contributed 163 kills (hitting .320), 60 aces and 64 solo blocks for a team that won a regional championship for the first time in school history. Nugent was an All Conference and All Area pick.
Megan O’Sullivan, 6-2 MB, Xavier Prep (Phoenix, Arizona) – Blocking leader for the state 5A-I champion Gators with 103, O’Sullivan also contributed 286 kills to the cause in 2010, earning Honorable Mention All Area honors in the process.
Sam Obringer, 5-6 OH, Norwalk (Ohio) -- Obringer was a first-team all-District 6 selection and also earned all-Northern Ohio League first team plaudits. Obringer led Norwalk in kills (194) and digs (302). A club libero, one area observer described her as “one of the best liberos I have ever worked with in 11 years of coaching. She has phenomenal form, foot speed and is excellent at reading the court and hitters.” Maggie O’Hearn, 5-8 S, Hempfield (Landisville, Pennsylvania) –O’Hearn amassed 1408 assists, 167 digs and 50 aces for a 45-8-9 team in 2010.
Haley Owen, 5-11 OH, Paris (Arkansas) – Known as “Squatch,” Owen amassed 233 kills, 89 aces and 297 serve receptions in 87 games in 2010. As the go-to hitter on the team, she led Paris to a district title for the first time in 20 years and to a spot in the state semifinals for the first time in school history. “She without a doubt forced our seniors to raise their level of play,” said coach Wes Davis. “I would be hard pressed to find a sophomore who made more of an impact on a team than Haley did on ours.”
Chelsea Owensby, 5-6 S, Mt. de Sales (Catonsville, Maryland) – Owensby hoisted 673 helpers for one of the top private school powers in Maryland.
Meredith Patterson, 5-10 MB, Marian Central Catholic (Woodstock, Illinois) -- Patterson was one of three sophomores that started for a Marian Central team that finished third in Class 3A in Illinois. Patterson finished with 153 kills, 298 total blocks and had 88 blocks for points. “Meredith Patterson went greatly under-appreciated for most of the season,” said coach Laura Watling. “But she is a stud and was largely a factor in our team making it Downstate. For her height, she jumps and plays way above the net.” Jenna Perry, 6-1 MB, Laguna Hills (California) – Perry recorded 144 blocks, one of the best totals among sophomores in the country, and added 138 kills for an 18-12 team in 2010.
Jen Petrovich, 5-7 S, St. Francis (Sacramento, California) – Petrovich had 933 assists and 272 digs in 2010 for the CIF-SJS Division I runners up. She was named to the All-Delta River League’s First Team and was named HM All –Metro honorable mention by the Sacramento Bee. “Her ability to set the right hitter and lead our offense was the key to our undefeated league season,” said coach Alynn Wright
Allie Plunk, 5-8 S, Birdville (North Richland Hills, Texas) – First Team All District as a sophomore, Plunk is a smart and mature player who contributed 1,205 assists, 160 kills, 407 digs and 44 aces in 2010. “She has amazing setting skills and is a great leader,” said coach Courtney Grimes. “She is able to make plays happen when other setters would not. She would have been one of our top hitters and passers this year, but I had to run a 5-1 with her.”
Hannah Plybon, 5-9 S, Orrville (Ohio) – A basketball stud, Plybon was pretty studly on the volleyball court as well, earning All District honors in 2010 after hoisting 910 assists while adding 134 digs and 48 aces.
Haley Robinson, 6-1 MB, Iolani (Honolulu, Hawaii) – Very athletic, Robinson is a big blocker with unorthodox yet effective attacking skills. She was Second Team All-ILH in 2010.
Gaby Rubeis, 5-6 OH, Buchholz (Gainesville, Florida) – A club setter, Rubeis was a force behind the line with 332 service points (51 aces). She also had 244 digs, 143 kills and 87 assists and earned a Gainesville Sun Class 3A-6A second-team selection.

Krista Rymer, 5-10 OH, Frontier (Bakersfield, California) – First Team All League and HM All Area, Rymer averaged 2.6 kills and 2.7 digs per game for the Titans in 2010. She is a talented all-around player who is excellent in serve receive and can run multiple sets from pin to pin. She sees the court well and attacks the ball both aggressively and with intelligence.
Katlyn Sawyer, 5-9, OH/MH, Rochester (Indiana) -- The 2010 team MVP and an all-conference first- team choice for a second year in a row, Sawyer put down 379 kills and hit .349. Sydney Schumacher, 5-6 L, Desert Vista (Phoenix, Arizona) – Schumacher had 649 digs in 2010 to lead the Thunder in 2010. She was an Honorable Mention All Area pick.
Kristen Sessler, 5-6 OH, St. Joseph (Fremont, Ohio) -- Sessler was a first-team all-District 6 selection and an all-Midland Athletic League first-team pick. Sessler had 347 kills and is known for the heat she puts on the ball and for her quick arm swing. Ashlee Sinnott, 5-9 OH, Columbus (Waterloo, Iowa) – First Team All Area for the second straight year and First Team All District, Sinnott averaged 2.7 kills and 3.5 digs per game for Columbus in 2010. A hustler, she’s been called a coaches dream.
Sarah Stahl, 5-2 L, Nipomo (California) – First Team All League and First Team All County, Stahl’s 365 digs (4.4 per game) helped Nipomo improve from two wins in 2009 to a 17-14 mark in 2010 that included a CIF playoff spot after a four-year absence.
Carmen Sturdifen, 6-0 OH, Bluestone (Skipwith, Virginia) -- Sturdifen was an all-district and honorable mention all-region selection for Bluestone this past season. She finished the year with 295 kills, 324 digs and 61 solo blocks in 82 sets.
Emma Schleucher, 5-8 MB, Findlay (Ohio) – A First Team All League selection, Schleucher paced Findlay with a team-high 59 aces while contributing 59 blocks, 171 kills and 152 digs in 2010. Schleucher was one of four sophomore starters on a team that finished 21-6 (all six losses to state-ranked teams) and reached the Regional semifinals.
Sarah Strasner, 6-2, MB, Clear Lake (Houston, Texas) – Named to the District 24-5A Second Team, Strasner amassed 181 kills, 90 blocks, 119 digs and a team-high 56 aces for Clear Lake. “Sarah was a fantastic player for us this past season and was certainly instrumental in our making it to the Region III Final for the first time since 1998,” said head coach Chanda Eager. “She made plays for us when we really needed it. Not only is she fantastic hitter, her ability to put up a solid block for us time and time again is due to her sound skills. She really came into her own after the Duncanville Tournament of Champions. She gave us the start we needed every match.”
Bria Sweeney, 5-5 OH, St. Mary’s Catholic (Colorado Springs, Colorado) – First Team All Conference and Second Team All Area, Sweeney helped the Pirates to a record-breaking season in 2010. Playing bigger than her height, she recorded 238 kills and added 310 digs.
Sarah Tentshert, 5-10 OH, St. Mary’s Catholic (Colorado Springs, Colorado) – A work horse, Tentshert led the 23-5 Pirates in kills (289), aces (84) and digs (317) in 2010. She was First Team All Conference, Second Team All Area and Second Team All State Class 3A.
Katie Timmons, 5-11 S, Richland (North Richland Hills, Texas) -- Timmons stepped into a starting role on varsity this year as a sophomore and quickly became a leader on the court, earning the respect of her teammates despite being the youngest one on the squad. A good decision maker and strong communicator, Timmons amassed 592 assists in 2010. She added 109 kills, 193 digs, 45 aces and 36 blocks, earning First Team All District honors along the way.
Julia Towler, 6-1 MB, Blue Springs South (Blue Springs, Missouri) – A First Team All Conference and Second Team All District selection, the athletic Towler had 216 kills and 38 aces for Blue Springs South in 2010.
Kathryn Trinka, 6-0 MB, Ransom-Everglades (Miami, Florida) -- Trinka powered home 211 kills and had
37 blocks for a Ransom Everglades team that reached the final eight of the Class 3A Florida state tournament. Trinka was also an all-Miami-Dade County first-team selection for Divisions 1A-4A. “She has proven herself to be among the top sophomore middle hitters in Florida and she has the stats to back up those claims,” said coach Roger Peluso. “Her presence on the court causes opponents to adjust their system to both avoid and defend against her.”
Allison Twinning, 6-1 OH, Findlay (Ohio) – Twinning had 190 kills, 164 digs and 28 aces to earn First Team Greater Buckeye Conference honors and Honorable Mention All District accolades. Twinning was one of four sophomore starters on a team that finished 21-6 (all six losses to state-ranked teams) and reached the Regional semifinals.
Teegan Van Gunst, 5-11 OH, Whitewater (Fayetteville, Georgia) – One of two talented twins, Teegan was very productive for the Wildcats in 2010, amassing 250 kills, 51 aces and 279 digs.

Last fall she had 1,155 assists, 34 kills, 24 aces and 197 digs to help lead Clear Lake to the Region III Final for the first time since 1998. Volk also was not afraid to stick her nose in the net, assisting on 44 blocks. “Sam is a fantastic player who ran our offense like a true veteran,” said head coach Chanda Eager. “Her quickness and court sense helped us take full advantage of our hitter arsenal. She is an extremely hard worker and the strongest player on our team. She squats a little more than 200 pounds and bench presses more than 100.” Volk had a personal-best 61 assists in a five-set win over against District rival Pearland and 56 assists in a four-set win against District rival Clear Brook.
Kendall Walbrecht, 6-2 OH, La Canada (California) – First Team All League and Second Team All Area in 2010, Walbrecht crushed a team-leading 330 kills for the Spartans.
Ali Waters, 5-6 S, Porter-Gaud (Charleston, South Carolina) – Waters handed out 859 assists in 2010 for the 33-6 independent school state champs.
Caitlin Watkins, 6-1 MB, Ardrey Kell (Charlotte, North Carolina) – This All Area performer led the Knights with 265 kills in 2010 while adding 50 aces and 35 blocks.
Kristen Webb, 5-6 L, Libertyville (Illinois) – Webb amassed 463 digs and 42 aces for a 35-3 team in 2010. An All Area pick and team captain, she has been called a “student of the game” by her high school coach.
Kelsey Weynand, 5-11 MB, Brenham (Texas) – First Team All District, the versatile Weynand had 193 kills, 81 blocks and 52 aces for the Cubbettes, who advanced to the Texas 4A championship match in 2010.”She is a solid player from every position on the court,” said coach Debbie Yeager. “Her serve is deadly and she attacks from any position on the court.”
Kady Whitsel, 5-6 S/RS, Brookside (Sheffield, Ohio) – Smart, strong, quick and a good leaper, Whitsel contributed 417 assists, 152 kills, 225 digs and 47 aces for a 16-7 team in 2010. She was a First Team All Conference and First Team All County pick and also earned Second Team All District honors.
Brittany Wonka, OH, Vero Beach (Florida) – The only sophomore named First Team All Area in the Treasure Coast, Wonka had 234 kills, 135 digs, 75 aces and 114 blocks for Vero Beach in 2010.
SPECIAL MENTION
Arijana Anderson, 6-0 OH, Burris (Muncie, Indiana) -- Anderson racked up 204 kills for the undefeated Owls this past season. “I believe Arijana is definitely in the top 5 in the state this year,” said Burris coach Thanh Harnish. “Ari was the key in turning our match against Assumption around in the second and third set. Ari hits a very heavy ball and cannot be stopped when she is on. As she matures and gets more experience, she will learn to be more in control and will be one of the top outside hitters in the nation.”
Claire Angelich, 6-3 MH/RS, Glynn Academy (Brunswick, Georgia) -- The huge hands of this blocking machine demoralize opposing hitters. Angelich amassed 116 total blocks in 2010. Able to touch 9-9, Angelich finished the year with 186 kills and is still developing her shot selection. Her play helped Glynn go 33-14, win an area championship and advance to the regional final. Glynn finished ranked 11th in the state in AAAA.
Jenson Barton, 5-10 S, Arcadia (Phoenix, Arizona) – HM All Area, Barton led Arcadia in assists (676) and aces (50) in 2010. She also ranked fifth in digs, third in blocks and added 51 kills.
Maris Below, 5-11 OH, Kickapoo (Springfield, Missouri) – Below was a First Team All Conference performer and Springfield Classic All Tournament selection for a team that finished 26-5 and was ranked as high as sixth among the biggest schools in Missouri. She finished the year with 137 kills (2.2 per game) and 269 digs.
Kayla Cain, 6-0 OH, Santa Fe (Alachua, Florida) -- Cain was credited with 260 digs as a sophomore while also amassing 84 kills, 207 service points and 50 aces. Cain was named to the all-Gainesville Sun Class 3A-6A second team.
Stephanie Campbell, 6-1 MB, Lafayette (Wildwood, Missouri) -- Campbell amassed 200 kills, 80 digs, 69.5 total blocks to go with 25 aces for a 28-7 Lancer team in 2010.
Taylor Caswell, 5-10 OH, Rider (Wichita Falls, Texas) -- Caswell recorded 238 kills and 240 digs this season. Caswell, who was slowed by injury, earned all-district second-team honors.
Kelsey Cave, 6-2 MB, Solon (Iowa) – Cave had 171 kills and a team-leading 53 blocks for Solon in 2010. She is tough and very fast side to side. Her club coach calls her “D-1 material with a fabulous work ethic” and said the fast-improving middle could be closer to 6-3 by now.
Annie Challis, 6-3 RS, Reno (Nevada) – Considered the best right side in her class in the Silver State, Challis led the 18-9 Huskies in kills in 2010, with 230 (2.6 per set) while adding 47 blocks.
Simone Collins, 5-11 MB, Pine Creek (Colorado Springs, Colorado) – A Second Team All Conference selection and an Honorable Mention Class 5A All Area choice, Collins had 117 kills and 84 blocks (second only to a 6-7 teammate with a full ride to Wyoming) for Colorado’s Class 5A state runner-up in 2010. “Simone only began playing volleyball two years ago, but she was definitely an impact player,” said head

Haley Corkill, 6-0 S/OH/MB, Winnetonka (Kansas City, Missouri) -- A two-year starter labeled as a “do everything player,” Corkill helped Winnetonka win 24 matches this past season. She finished the season with 274 assists, 97 kills, 92 digs, 61 blocks and 34 aces.
Katelyn Cuff, 6-2 MB, Santa Fe Christian (Solana Beach, California) – A high energy player, Cuff missed time early in the year from knee surgery but came back to give the Eagles a boost down the stretch. The Torrey Pines transfer finished with 83 kills and 32 blocks in 51 games. Named Second Team All CIF, Cuff is giving everyone a glimpse of the force she can be when healthy this club season, leading Coast 17-1 in kills and blocks while playing best in big games.
Kylie Curtis, 5-8 S/RS, Coeur d'Alene (Idaho) – Named First Team All League, Curtis led her team in kills and assists in 2010. She has a great vertical, quick arm swing and above-average volleyball IQ.
Amanda Dachs, 6-0 RS, Northview (Johns Creek, Georgia) -- Dachs played in all 118 games for the Titans, who reached the AAAAA state finals. The third option behind two First Team All State attackers, Dachs recorded 204 kills in 2010. She will be asked to carry the offensive load for the Titans from the left side in 2011.
Carly Dehoog, 6-4 RS, Ontario Christian (Ontario, California) – A beast on the right side for her Club West club team, this southpaw notched more than 200 kills in twice as many attempts for a .500 team in 2010 while adding 35 total blocks. She was the only sophomore named First Team All-Ambassador League.
Alyssa Desjardins, 5-6 S, Creekview (Carrollton, Texas) – A gym rat and very cerebral, Desjardins plays and sets at a very high level and has one of the best serves around. She was a First Team All District pick in 2010.
Micaela Deshetsky, 5-10 MB, North Branch (Michigan) – Deshetsky played middle in 2010 and had 14 kills in the Broncos’ Class B semifinal win over Ladywood. She finished the year with 261 kills in 622 swings, while adding 65 blocks. A complete player, Deshetsky will move to the outside next year and play and hit in all six rotations.
Leah Dunivan, 6-1 MB, Miami East (Casstown, Ohio) – One of the most dominant blockers in Southwest Ohio, Dunivan had 47 solo blocks in 2010. Touching 9-11, “she can change or set the tone for a match with blocking alone,” said coach John Cash. Dunivan, who added 143 kills, was a First Team All Conference and Second Team All District pick.
Samantha Espy, 5-8 S/RS, Buckhorn (New Market, Alabama) – In 101 games played in 2010, Espy amassed 214 kills, 268 assists, 45 aces and 121 digs.
Kat Ferrell, 5-11 OH, Huron (Ohio) – Very strong and touching 9-11, Ferell had 222 kills as a sophomore, helping to lead Huron to a league title and the regional championship match. She was named Second Team All Conference and Second Team All District.
Natalie Gower, 6-4 RS/MB, St. Joseph’s Academy (St. Louis, Missouri) -- Gower missed half the season but was able to come back and be a key contributor for the Class 4 state champions. She had 17 kills in four state tournament matches and finished the season with 74 kills (.405 hitting percentage) and 59 blocks. “Natalie was a blocking machine on the right side for us,” said coach Karen Davis. “What does not show up on the stat column is the number of balls she stopped from crossing the net and slowed down. She forced many opponents to change their game plan.”
Dakota Hampton, 6-1 OH, Sandburg (Orland Park, Illinois) -- The daughter of pro football Hall of Famer and Chicago Bears legend Dan Hampton is making a name for herself on the volleyball court. Hampton carried the Eagles through the middle of the season after injuries sent two seniors to the sidelines, and finished with 160 kills in an abbreviated season. She was so dominant, however, that her 160 kills were third on the team and only 10 less than the team’s top attacker. “She is a powerful attacker who played her best in our biggest matches,” said head coach David Vales. “She has a strong jump serve and has shown great improvement over her first two high school years.” Samantha Hansen, 6-0 MB, Bennington (Nebraska) -- Hansen finished the season with 236 kills on 454 swings. She hit at a .330 clip and had 67 aces. She was an all-conference second-team selection and both an all-area and all-state honorable mention pick. “Samantha has amazing power and strength,” said Bennington coach Scott Romans. Kathleen Harris, 5-10 OH, Marymount (Los Angeles, California) -- An all-league pick, Harris helped Marymount defeat Redlands East Valley to win a CIF Southern Section championship in 2010. She was also instrumental in the team’s signature win over Harvard-Westlake when HW was at full strength the week after it won the Durango Fall Classic in Las Vegas. “Kathleen is a clever hitter who is always finding holes in the block and hitting cross-court and line with ease,” said a Marymount assistant coach. “She is a very solid player who does not make mistakes and acquits herself nicely in the back row.”
Taylor Harris, 5-7 S/RS, Liberty (Bakersfield, California) – Very, very fast, Harris ran a 6-2 offense with fellow soph Kiki Robinson, finishing the year with a team-leading 439 assists and 236 digs.
Maggie Heim, 6-0 RS, Marian (Omaha, Nebraska) – A powerful lefty with setting skills, Heim was a Class A all-state honorable mention choice after amassing more than 170 kills, 65 aces and 50 blocks for a 36-7 team this season.

Lauren Holt, 6-2 MB, Memorial (Granby Connecticut) -- Holt, whose vertical jump is over 20 inches, was a second-team All-State selection after compiling 119 blocks (117 of which were solo) and 115 kills. She made only 11 hitting errors on 191 attempts and finished the season hitting .545.
Heather Hook, 6-0 S, Grundy Center (Iowa) – Hook averaged more than eight assists per game (865 total) for one of the top teams in Class 2A. Hook’s assist total led Iowa sophomores.
Sarah Hughes, 5-9 OH, Mater Dei (Santa Ana, California) – Honorable Mention All County, Hughes had 128 kills, 290 digs and 66 assists for the Monarchs in 2010. As good as she is, Hughes should at least double those numbers next year.
Natalie Jaeger, 5-9 S, Oconomowoc (Wisconsin) – Jaeger had 884 assists and 194 digs in 2010.
Jenelle Jordan, 6-2 MB, Bellaire (Texas) – A great athlete, Jordan was a difference maker in the middle for the Cardinals, who won a district title in 2010.
Meredith Lauerman, 6-1 MB, South Charleston (West Virginia) – Head coach Bruce Busse calls Lauerman “one of the top if not the top sophomore in West Virginia.” Lauerman led South Charleston in blocks and was second in kills behind a very good senior outside hitter. “Meredith is also an excellent student,” Busse said. “She will be taking an even bigger leadership role in the upcoming season after we lost three talented seniors from this season’s regionals team.”
Jane Lukas, 6-0 OH, Nazareth (Pennsylvania) – An impact player on her high school team, Lukas hits over most blocks and pounds the ball. HM All District, Lukas finished 2010 with 229 kills and added 90 digs and 30 blocks.
Callie Mack, 5-7 S, Mound-Westonka (Mound, Minnesota)-- Mack earned all-conference honorable mention honors thanks to a 2010 season where she had 548 assists, 131 digs and 55 aces. “Callie had a great ability to see the floor and read the other team,” said coach Katie Jo O’Gara. “Although she is our setter, we cannot deny her defensive abilities and how they assist turning many tough balls into a great offensive strike.”
Elle McCord, 5-5 S/RS, Northgate (Newnan, Georgia) -- A Times Herald all-county second-team selection, the super athletic McCord, a club libero, recorded 128 kills to go with 68 assists and 45 aces in 2010. She was second on the team in digs with 322 (3.8 per set).
Joy Miley, 6-2 MB, Whittier Christian (Whittier, California) – HM All Area, Miley has the physical attributes to be a top 10 national recruit her senior year. She has a big jump and creates attacking angles that players her own age have not seen.
Chiaka Ogbogu, 6-1 MB, Coppell (Texas) -- Ogbogu was the team’s most improved player after registering 156 kills and a district-best 129 blocks. Those efforts earned her 7-5A all-district second-team accolades. Ogbogu also was cited for all-district academic honors.
Alyssa Phelps, 5-11 S, Blue Valley Southwest (Overland Park, Kansas) -- Phelps was named to the all- EKL second team this past season. She finished with 502 setting assists to go with 205 digs and 54 aces. “Alyssa had no previous setting experience,” said coach Scott Dowis. “Alyssa took control from Day 1 and was a tremendous leader and set a good example on and off the court. She is one of the hardest- working kids in our gym and maintains a 4.0+ GPA in the classroom.”
Emma Price, 5-11 RS, Charlotte Latin (Charlotte, North Carolina) – A talented club setter, Price helped in all areas for the state-champion Hawks in 2010, recording 130 kills, 51 aces, 24 blocks, 258 digs and 88 assists.
Anna Reichert, 5-8 L, St. Joseph’s (St. Louis, Missouri) -- A tough and gritty defensive player. Reichert earned the libero job early in the year and helped solidify the back row for the Missouri Class 4 state champs. She was fantastic in the state final, passing a 2.6 while being targeted constantly. On the year, Reichert finished with 488 serve receptions and 321 digs.
Haylee Roberts, 6-3 MB, Liberty (Bakersfield, California) – Roberts helped Vision Zone win 15 American last summer, then led the Patriots in hitting efficiency and blocks (91 solo) during the fall while adding 205 kills. She was a Second Team All League pick.
Sasha Robinson, 5-10 OH, Brown County (Nashville, Indiana) – Robinson is an athletic outside hitter who glides through the air while attacking and led her 14-15 team to the sectional championship for the first time in school history. Robinson’s 285 kills, 198 digs, 94 blocks and 55 aces earned her a spot on the All Conference Team.
Jenna Selby, 6-0 MB, Troy (Ohio) – A dominant, versatile, Selby was the driving force behind Troy’s competitive season in 2010. She was a First Team All Conference and First Team All District selection.
Oakley Shane, 5-6 RS, Norwalk (Ohio) – First Team All League, Shane was among the Cleveland area leaders in kills, digs and aces in 2010.
Kelsey Shaver, 5-10 OH, Harbor (Santa Cruz, California) -- Shaver was an honorable mention all-league selection despite missing half of the league season. She averaged 2.5 kills per set. “Kelsey is an athlete who needs to only be told once how to perform a skill and will then immediately translate that to play on the court,” said coach Matthew Schutz. “She really grew as a teammate and will blossom into one of the top players in this class in the future.”

Mallory Warrington, 5-6 S, Incarnate Word (St. Louis, Missouri) – A setter with the innate ability to take over a match with her court sense and athletic ability, Warrington she led her Incarnate Word Red Knights to their fourth consecutive trip to the Class 4 Final Four final four in 2010. IWA switched to a 5- 1 offense five matches into the 2010 season and went 21-3 the rest of the way even as Warrington battled an Achilles injury that caused her to miss the better part of five matches. She still finished with in excess of 500 assists and was named First Team All District and Second Team All Conference.
Rachol West, 5-9 MB, Garces Memorial (Bakersfield, California) – A transfer from Independence, West made an immediate impact with the Rams, stepping into a vacant middle spot and thriving. Her 62 blocks ranked second on the team and she added 126 kills (1.4 per game). Very competitive and a hard worker, West was a First Team All League pick and HM All Area.
Alyse Whitaker, 6-2 MB, Vista Murrieta (Murrieta, California) – Honorable Mention All Area after averaging five kills per game for the Broncos in 2010, Whitaker is a major offensive threat, improving blocker and defender who could grow into a top 25 national recruit before her prep career is over.
Taylor Yantis, 5-6 OH, Paradise Valley (Phoenix, Arizona) – HM All Area, Yantis had 170 kills, 294 digs and 40 aces for a 21-9 team in 2010.

Taylor Angel, 6-1, OH/RS, Notre Dame Academy (Covington, Kentucky) – Angel had 126 kills on 328 Attempts (a .216 kill percentage) and 60 Blocks for the Pandas while playing on both pins. “Taylor is a natural talent with a very high reach and a strong vertical which makes her a threat as a hitter," said head coach Andrea Lanham.
Marian Barton, 5-11 MB, Reed-Custer (Braidwood, Illinois) – A two-year starter, Barton contributed 201 kills, 108 blocks and 149 digs for the Comets in 2010. She has fine all-around skills.
Natalie Bates, 5-7 S, Blue Valley West (Overland Park, Kansas) – A floor leader for the Jaguars with great court sense, Bates amassed 323 assists in 2010 as part of a 6-2 offense for one of the best 6A teams in the state. A three-sport standout, coach Terry Flynn expects Bates to shine in 2011. “Natalie does a fabulous job feeding Kansas 6A State All Tournament players Jessica Hendin and Madison Fletcher and will be a tremendous offensive force during the 2011 season,” she opined.
Alyssa Beach, 6-2 MB, Notre Dame (Toledo, Ohio) – A blocking machine for Notre Dame in 2010, Beach has the potential to be a Division I recruit as a senior.
Anouska Best, 6-0 MB, Walton (Marietta, Georgia) – A defensive force in the Raiders’ run to the AAAAA state title, Best led Walton in blocking and has the potential to add a diverse offensive game to her arsenal in the future. She was selected to the Area 1 AAAAA team.
Megan Blunden, 6-2 MB, Chapel Hill (North Carolina) -- Blunden recorded an even 100 kills this season to go with 16 aces, 12 digs and three assists en route to earning all-Carolina Conference honorable mention honors. “She has the ability to bring offense from all different directions and at all tempos,” stated one area observer.
Dana Budzyn, 5-8 L, Flintridge-Sacred Heart (La Canada-Flintridge, California) – The Daily News’ Newcomer of the Year, Budzyn finished second on the Tologs in digs in 2010 and was a Second Team All-League pick.
Lakie Bright, 5-10 OH, Bradford County (Starke, Florida) -- Bright, who recently transferred to Oak Leaf High School in Orange Park, Fla., is a leaping lizard, according to one area observer, who can touch 9-11 1/2 and has been earmarked for a bright prep future.
Ryann Chandler, 5-9 S, Torrey Pines (San Diego, California) – One of three strong setters on the Torrey Pines team, Chandler emerged as the No. 1 option dishing the rock late in the season and even made the All Tournament team while setting a 5-1 offense at the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions. She averaged 26 assists, 1.5 aces and 3.5 digs per match.
Megan Chevalier, 6-0 RS, Boone (Orlando, Florida) -- Chevalier earned Orlando Sentinel all-Central Florida honorable mention honors after helping lead Boone to the Florida Class 6A state-championship match. Chevalier was part of a Boone team that had not won a region playoff game until this season. Chevalier finished with 169 kills and 32 blocks.
Reagan Clark, 6-2 OH, Chaminade (West Hills, California) – Clark had 237 digs, 141 kills and 35 aces in 2010.
Melanie Crow, 5-10 RS, Lafayette (Wildwood, Missouri) -- Crow had 135 kills, 102 digs and 41 total blocks for 28-7 Lafayette this season.
Albany Dawson, 5-10 MB/RS, Arlington (Texas) -- Arlington coach Sue Cauley noted Dawson is a player with a high future ceiling. “Albany is a player to watch,” the coach said. “She is just coming into her own as an outstanding hitter. She is very aggressive and fun to watch.”
Aly Dawson, 5-10 RS, Catholic Memorial (Waukesha, Wisconsin) -- Dawson tallied 218 kills and hit at a .403 clip for Catholic Memorial, the Wisconsin Division 2 champions in 2010. “Aly is someone to watch

Taylor Dayton, 5-11 OH, Punahou (Honolulu, Hawaii) – A strong with a powerful and heavy arm, Dayton was a starter for the Buffanblu when they played in the state Division I final.
Natasha Dicks, 5-8 MB, Aiken (South Carolina) -- Dicks finished the season with 165 kills and helped Aiken win a South Carolina state championship. “She has proven to be a powerful hitter and one of the most recognized players on the team by other coaches,” said coach Malynda Young. “She hits tremendously hard, and with her vertical, is capable of 10-foot line kills.”
Blakelee Dunagin, 6-1 MB, Heritage (Rogers, Arkansas) – A player to keep an eye on according to club coach Jenny Kirk. “Dunagin missed much of her sophomore season due to an injury but had a good showing while she was playing,” Kirk said.
Madison Dutra, 5-11 RS, Torrey Pines (San Diego, California) – Dutra started on the right for the Falcons in 2010 and emerged late in the season as one of the team’s go-to hitters. She was an All Tournament pick at the Torrey Pines California Challenge.
Kaity Edwards, 6-2 MB, Marymount (Los Angeles, California) -- Edwards played a key role in Marymount’s winning a CIF title this season. “She made many critical kills and blocks throughout the high school season,” said Marymount assistant coach Robert Kelly. “She kept getting better and better as the season progressed. She has a tremendous upside.” Hannah Farmer, 6-2 MB, Tupelo (Mississippi) – The youngest of the Farmer sisters, Hannah played only half the year due to injury, but was big down the stretch as Tupelo reached the large-class state final. Farmer finished the year with 113 kills (3.2 per set) and 62 blocks.
Rachel Flynn, 5-11 OH, Trabuco Hills (Mission Viejo, California) – A two-year starter, Flynn helped the Mustangs to their best-ever finish in 2010. A strong hitter who averaged more than two kills per game, Flynn also is a strong server and passer.
Jackie Fugate, 6-0 MB, Ozark (Missouri) – A middle on one of the top teams in the state, Fugate gets her hands on a lot of balls and added 148 kills in 2010.
Kyra Goodman, 5-10 S, Mission Viejo (California) – Goodman had 402 assists in 46 games for the Diablos in 2010.
Lauren Gresham, 6-0 OH, St. Joseph’s Academy (St. Louis, Missouri) -- Gresham amassed 187 kills and had a hitting percentage of .331 in 2010. She also contributed 95 digs, 63 blocks and 40 aces. “Lauren is a very competitive person,” said coach Karen Davis. “During warm-ups before a match in Kansas City she landed on a ball and sprained her ankle. She had a knockdown, drag-out with the trainer who finally gave in and let her play the match. Lauren is a versatile player who can play left, right and even middle attacker. 187 kills may not appear to be many kills, but we had three players with over 150 kills and two more with over 250 kills.” Heidi Hess, 5-5 S, Chaminade-Julienne (Dayton, Ohio) – Second Team All-GGCL and HM District 15, Hess is a small, nifty setter who amassed more than 500 assists in 2010.
Lauren Hess, 5-11 OH, Bethlehem Catholic (Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) -- Hess finished the season with 40 kills and hit at a .282 clip. Hess was slowed by a foot injury earlier in the season, but when she played she “hurt the ball” observed an area coach. Kelsey Hinrichs, 5-10 OH, Solon (Iowa) – Hinrichs averaged two kills and 1.5 digs per game in 2010.
Katie Horton, 6-1 OH, Wayne Memorial (Wayne, Michigan) – Once an elite soccer player, Horton has unlimited potential in volleyball as a pure natural athlete. She helped Wayne to some good wins in 2010 and could evolve into a top recruit in the Class of 2013.
Elizabeth Hubing, 5-9 OH, Iowa City (Iowa) -- Second Team All Conference performer slammed 267 kills for City High in 2010.
Kelsey Humphries, 6-0 S, Corona del Mar (Newport Beach, California) – A smooth dealing six footer, Humphries took over the setter’s role midway through the season for the Sea Queens, one of the nation’s elite teams. She finished the year with 356 assists and earned Honorable Mention All County honors.
Madison Jones, 6-1 OH, Lafayette (Wildwood, Missouri) -- Jones registered 118 kills, hit at a .322 clip and had 71 digs for one of Missouri’s top teams in 2010. Taylor Kelso, 5-1 L, Colonel Crawford (Bucyrus, Ohio) -- Kelso was an all-North Central League second- team pick who amassed 280 digs en route to helping Colonel Crawford go 19-4 and 11-3 in NCL play. Maddy Kerr, 5-8 DS, Torrey Pines (California) – The daughter of NBAer Steve Kerr, Maddy had to fight for time in the back row with two seasoned seniors, but she made productive, often spectacular, use of her time on the court. She is a bulldog who will be one of the best to come out of San Diego.
Jessica Klingensmith, 5-10 MB, The Classical Academy (Colorado Springs, Colorado) – A big leaper, Klingensmith was second on the team in blocks in 2010, recording 71 in 92 games. She also added 105 kills.
Alyssa Klostermann, 5-9 OH, Wahlert (Dubuque, Iowa) – A do-it-all player for her high school team, Klostermann had 216 digs and approached 100 kills and assists for the Eagles in 2010. She has been a

varsity starter on the volleyball, basketball and soccer teams since her freshman year.
Kristen Koncelik, 5-11 MB, Batavia (Illinois) -- Koncelik, a two-year varsity player, helped Batavia win the Upstate Eight Conference River Division with an unblemished record and defeated established Illinois west-suburban programs such as Waubonsie Valley, St. Charles East and St. Charles North. Koncelik, who touches 9-10, was a first-team all-UEC River pick and helped the team win 32 matches and a regional championship. She finished with 177 kills, 55 block kills, 33 aces and 66 digs.
Ali Lake, 6-0 MB, Lakota East (Liberty Township, Ohio) – A go-to hitter for the 12-7 Thunderhawks in 2010, Lake averaged almost two kills per set while also contributing with her blocking and serving.
Sidney Lammers, 5-9 S, Helias Catholic (Jefferson City, Missouri) – Very athletic, Lammers was part of a 6-2 offense for a 30-5-1 team in 2010 and finished second in both assists and aces. She was a Second Team All-Region choice.
Danielle Leavitt, 5-6 DS, Lake Highland (Orlando, Florida) – Watch out for Leavitt, who was part of an amazing back row along with senior libero Molly Winger in 2010. Leavitt, who wows in the contrasting jersey during club ball, had 174 digs and served effectively for the Highlanders last fall. “She has great court sense and determination,” said coach Charmaine Cox.
Kayla Lederer, 6-0 MB, Gilbert (Arizona) – HM All Area, Lederer finished third on the state semifinalist Tigers in kills in 2010, recording 214. She added 38 assists and a team-leading 62 blocks.
Serena LeDuff, 5-8 OH, Valencia (California) – A first-year varsity player, LeDuff finished second on the Vikings in kills with 207 and added 242 digs and 26 aces. Valencia was a strong team in 2010 and advanced to the CIF-SS 1A quarterfinals. Le Duff was a Second Team All League pick.
Kelsey Lewis, 5-8 OH, Tolland (Connecticut) -- A team captain, Lewis was an all-conference selection for Tolland. She finished the season with 160 kills and 46 aces. Her efforts helped Tolland rally from a 2- 0 deficit to score a 3-2 victory over perennial state power RHAM (only its second loss in 2 years).
Catlin Lilly, 6-0, New Albany (Indiana) – One of Southern Indiana’s best young players, Lilly contributed 233 kills, 24 solo blocks and 56 aces for a 32-5 team that ranked among the best in Indiana’s 5A class in 2010.
Amy Lindhorst, 5-6 S, Oak Park (Kansas City, Missouri) – A consummate hard worker, Lindhorst assisted 543 times in 2010 while adding 147 digs and 33 blocks. Academic All State, this track star also was Second Team All Conference and Second Team All District.
Ellen Line, 5-10 MB, Fairfield (Goshen, Indiana) – Line contributed almost 200 kills and 50 blocks for the Falcons, who finished 34-5 and in second place in Indiana’s Class 2A in 2010.
Addy Lofstedt, 5-10 MB, Monarch (Louisville, Colorado) – A strong hitter and server, Lofstedt was named Second Team All Conference and Honorable Mention All Region in 2010.
Ashley Mariani, 6-2 MB, Arlington (Texas) -- Mariani was an all-district selection from Arlington this past season and is drawing interest from the likes of NCAA runner-up Cal. Arlington coach Sue Cauley described Mariani as an extremely athletic and passionate player. Maya McClendon, 5-9 OH, DuPont Manual (Louisville, Kentucky) – Physically gifted, McClendon contributed 195 kills, 84 digs and 26 aces in 84 games for a 23-12 team in 2010.
Haleigh Nelson, 6-4 MB, Cardinal Gibbons (Raleigh, North Carolina) -- Nelson played a big role in Cardinal Gibbons winning another North Carolina state title (21-2 record). She ended the season hitting .415 with 95 kills. Nelson also posted 92 total blocks. Kelsie Reis, 6-3 MB, Freeburg (Illinois) – Reis had 107 kills and 48 blocks for the Midgets in 2010, earning HM All Area honors.
Alex Roberts, 5-5 S, Colonel Crawford (Bucyrus, Ohio) -- Roberts was an all-North Central League second-team selection this season. Roberts finished the season with 370 assists, 140 digs and had 62 aces and 55 kills.
Sierra Sanchez, 5-11 OH, Valencia (California) – A first-year varsity player, Sanchez contributed 174 kills, 244 digs and 38 aces for a Viking team that advanced to the CIF-SS 1A quarterfinals in 2010. Sanchez was named HM All League.
Kendall Sexton, 6-0 MB, Boone (Orlando, Florida) – Named HM All-Central Florida, Sexton had 104 kills and 61 blocks for the Florida 6A runners up in 2010.
Tori Shepard, 5-4 DS, Marymount (Los Angeles, California) -- Shepard was brought up to the varsity for the playoffs last season and has never looked back. “Her serve was nails and was a factor in all the

Sarah Sikula, 5-10 MB, Bowling Green (Ohio) – Sikula has helped lead her school to Northern Lakes League titles each of the last two years. She amassed 132 kills, 26 blocks and 48 digs in 2010. “Sarah will more than likely be a top recruit for many colleges in Ohio in the years ahead,” said head coach Deb Mathias.
Micaela Spann, 6-2 MB, Hebron (Carrollton, Texas) – With so many elite hitters on the squad, Spann wasn’t shown the rock much during the Hawks’ run to the Texas 5A state title, but she sure could raise the roof, as her 80 blocks, which ranked her among the nation’s best sophomores, would attest.
Kaitlyn Stanley, 5-7, L, Clovis North (Clovis, California) – Stanley earned Tri Rivers Athletic Conference Honorable Mention accolades by leading Clovis North in digs (287) and digs per set (3.53). “As a second year varsity starter, Kaitlyn played in every set of the season and led the team's passing, taking over 50 percent of the received balls,” said head coach Jessica Quinn. “She is among the top sophomores in central California who plays in one of the strongest leagues in California. She trains with poise to better herself and teammates every practice, and she always puts her team before herself.”
Bri Starr, 5-11 OH, Blue Springs (Missouri) -- Starr registered 152 kills, 105 digs and had 43 aces and parlayed that into a second-team all-district honor. She was also an all-conference honorable mention choice. “Bri is one of the most aggressive players I have ever coached,” said coach Katie Grusing. “She is never afraid to serve or hit it aggressively. Many times she has ended a rally with her fast arm swing. Bri’s desire to improve and her willingness to work are top-notch.”
Abby Stine, 5-5, DS, Findlay (Ohio) -- Stine was an honorable mention Greater Buckeye Conference selection. She finished with 122 digs and 25 aces.
Ali Svorinic, 5-8 S, Notre Dame Prep (Scottsdale, Arizona) – Svorinic converted to setter for the Saints in 2010 and had a team-high 329 assists while adding 102 digs and 31 aces. She was named Honorable Mention All Area.
Emily Thater, 6-3 MB, Kickapoo (Springfield, Missouri) – Thater was named Honorable Mention Southwest All Region and Second Team All District for a team that finished 26-5 and was ranked as high as sixth among the biggest schools in Missouri. “Emily is being heavily recruited as well and drawing many top Division 1 schools such as Iowa State, Purdue, Ole Miss, Kentucky and Arkansas,” said head coach Debbie Downs. She finished the year with 151 kills and 64 blocks.
Jazzmyn Tingelhoff, 5-10 S, Lakeville South (Lakeville, Minnesota) – Tingelhoff led South in assists in 2010 and added almost 100 digs in 57 games.
Taylor Trohkimoinen, 6-0 MB, Newell (South Dakota) – Named Honorable Mention All Conference, Trohkimoinen had 203 kills and 71 aces in 2010 and also was credited with 967 digs in 95 sets for the Irrigators.
Riley Troyer, 5-6 S, Fairfield (Goshen, Indiana) – Part of a 6-2 offense, Troyer had more than 500 assists and more than 100 digs for the state runner up Falcons in 2010.
Ashley Watson, 5-8 OH, Chagrin Falls (Ohio) – Watson started on the outside for the Tigers in 2010 and debuted her top-spin jump serve. She was named HM All Area.
Grace Weghorst, 5-8 OH, Westlake (Austin, Texas) -- Weghorst, a left-handed hitter, is regarded as a dynamic and explosive player who possesses the highest vertical jump of any player in the program. She came off the bench in the playoffs and gave Westlake a spark by averaging 2.4 kills per set (third on the team). She finished the year with 52 kills and hit .355. Her passing efficiency was perfect 46 percent of the time and she finished with a 2.38 serving efficiency. Weghort’s contributed to Westlake’s 44-4 season.
Kate Whitmire, 6-0 OH, TC Williams (Alexandria, Virginia) – TC Williams placed fourth in its district, the school’s best result in 11 years, and Whitmire was a huge reason behind that. In 60 games, she compiled 188 kills and 32 aces for the Titans.
