We hope you really enjoy your visit to our beautiful setting, and hope that you will consider returning again to see what the village looks like without the Show.

This year we welcome some very significant new faces to the Show; Andy Mahoney and Melanie Robinson have been in residence at Little Easton Manor since the late spring, and we are thrilled that they have already become huge supporters of the Show, and also that they have agreed to officially open proceedings, so if you are around then, do take the opportunity to say hello.

Thanks must also go to the residents of the area surrounding the show, especially the Hurley family at the Rectory. Thank you, not only for the use of your land, but also for tolerating the disruption which the show brings to your community. We trust you all appreciate that it is worth the hassle! Grateful thanks are also due to the Trembaths for once again donating the use of their land on the Rectory side.

As you will see we welcome back many of our regular stallholders and attractions this year. We are also very grateful to our sponsors who make the Show possible, especially P&A Wood, whose presence makes our vehicle display the best by miles. This year, in response to feedback from last time, the Five Parishes Churches will have a gazebo on the site in which a little bit of peace and quiet can be found, if you are in need of a break from the crowds the heat (or rain) and the noise. Information about the Churches will be available, along with a listening ear and a friendly face. Do drop in and say hello!

The Five Parishes are very grateful indeed for everything the Countess of Warwick Show brings to us; the success of the show builds community in our villages, and of course your generosity provides much needed funding to enhance the life and ministry of the churches.

So, thank you very much, I look forward to seeing you at the Show.

On behalf of the Five Parishes’ Countess of Warwick Show Committee, with best wishes Tim (Revd. Tim Goodbody). T hings to see We hope that you enjoy exploring the show. There are so many things to do and see you may need both days! Animal Marquee As always, a warm and friendly welcome awaits in the Animal Marquee; this year there is so much to see. We have the usual variety of animals including alpacas, sheep, pigs, cattle, chickens. ponies and bees also we are thrilled that Daisy May’s Farm, Elsenham are joining us with a range of animals to pet/stroke/feed/groom. All of the volunteers in the marquee would be so pleased to speak with you if you have any questions about the animals that you will meet, please just ask. Artisan Tent This year, we have the Artisan Tent returning. Inside we have a great show of wood crafts, potters and painters to tempt you in. Once again, we have an artist in residence on each day and returning we have Fine Art by Alice. We also have Burntwood bears, bespoke handmade bears, a fantastic range of pom pom animals and golf balls puzzles and wood crafts by See n saw. T hings to see Art Show The annual art exhibition is located inside Little Easton Church which is Norman in origin, built on the site of a Saxon structure; some medieval wall paintings still survive. Inside the church you will find that we have a great array of art work, from small canvas to 3D and photography work, for you to browse at your leisure. Take a look at the work of the artists. Most of the work is for sale as well. If you are a local artist or crafter interested in exhibiting please find Christina, to have a chat about next year’s show. Classic Car Display Sponsors P & A Wood have organised a Classic Car Show for Sunday 26th August. A variation of cars entered will be displayed on the Manor Lawn and will be judged by P & A Wood. On Monday 27th August the Manor Lawn will be host to a variety of different car clubs with a display of their vehicles, including the Essex Austin 7 Club. For any further information regarding the cars that you see at the show please contact Georgina Wood – georgina.wood@pa-wood. co.uk T hings to see Horticultural Marquee Come in and visit the Horticultural Show, we have everything from the longest runner bean to beautiful handicrafts. It is a highly regarded accolade in the local area to receive a rosette from the Horticultural Tent at The Countess of Warwick Show, so it’s a must to pop in and see! The ‘Men Only’ class this year are challenged to produce the perfect Victoria Sponge… do you think they will give the Great British Bake Off a run for their money!? The marquee will be full of all the favourites: wonderfully tended homegrown vegetables, beautiful flower displays, plants, and talented arts and crafts. We encourage young exhibitors with the children’s classes; the children show wonderful enthusiasm and pride with all their entries which include baking, handwriting and artwork. The tent opens after judging. Do come and have a look, get inspired to enter next year... perhaps you’ll be taking home a rosette. We are very grateful to our sponsors... From Little Easton - Power Construction. From Grays – Broadway Electrical Services Ltd. T hings to see Main Arena If you fancy sitting for a while, the arena has a full programme to offer. Come and watch: a Dressage display, our visiting Marching Band, Audley End Equestrian Team who will show how riding used to be, Heavy Horse Riding, an unusual sight. You can also watch a demonstration of Farm Machinery, see the Hound Parade and the Farm Animal Walk. The Ploughing Match Look over to the field beyond the showground… you will see many vintage tractors going backwards and forwards. This is our ploughing match which takes place on Sunday. The following day we hold a competition for novices, some of whom have never ploughed before! Please take a walk over to have a closer look. These are all vintage tractors, the majority from the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s. Watch how they work and ask any of those ploughing about what they are doing. Please take a walk over to have a closer look. Look out for the two different types of plough- the first dragged along on the ground - ‘trailed’, the second lifted up at the end of each row - ‘mounted’. Kindly sponsored by R C Boreham and P Tuckwell. T hings to see Shire Horses We are very pleased that Peter and Patricia Jackson and family are showing their Shire Horses again this year. The horses are very happy to be attending the show and will be in the arena for you to see them at close quarters. They are situated under the trees where they can keep cool! Returning this year, granddaughter Heather Hobin, will be putting her horse through its paces in her own demonstration in the main arena. Vintage Tractors Another colourful display of vintage tractors will be lining the arena (each manufacturer had a distinctive colour advertising their brand). One can only wonder at the many hours of dedicated restoration that goes into both the mechanics and bodywork of these old ‘workhorses’. The owners will be only too pleased to tell you about them! Judging takes place and awards are handed out at 4 o’clock on the Monday. LITTLE EASTON Spotlight on MANOR It was a beautiful sunny day in May when I called on Andy to discuss an article for the Five Parishes Magazine and for the Countess of Warwick Show Guide. Sadly, the Beast from the East struck a couple of days before Andy and Mel moved into Little Easton Manor so they were greeted by frozen pipes followed by water pouring through a ceiling. However, nothing seems to deter them from their obvious love of the Manor. After a tour of the beautifully laid out gardens, we settled on a bench with stunning views overlooking well-manicured lawns and the historic lakes. There was no need to ask what tempted Andy to buy The Manor. Andy’s enthusiasm knows no bounds as he described his long-term plans for the gardens and the lake before moving on to his plans for the Manor and the estate. Inevitably, he tells me many of the county’s largest country houses have been developed into multiple apartments but he is determined to keep the Manor intact. He modestly describes himself as simply the custodian of this beautiful property. Soon flashes of Andy’s entrepreneurial DNA surface with the statement that of course the Estate must be made to pay for itself if it is to have a long-term future, so we moved on to tour the Turkey Barn and then the famous Barn Theatre to understand his plans. Here there was a buzz of activity from the team of workers renovating the loos, kitchens, carpark band lights before redecoration can take place. New trenches have been dug to install superfast broadband for the benefit of the venue. Soon, this will again be the perfect location for weddings, parties and business conferences and should be reopened for business this summer. Andy and Mel tell me how much they enjoyed the Countess of Warwick Show last year and were delighted to see the Manor grounds buzzing with activity. On arrival at The Manor Andy confirmed that “the Show will go on” and generously committed to continue to host this successful Country Show now in its 27th year. Andy and his son Ash run a number of successful transport businesses including the official Stansted Airport taxis, 24x7, with a fleet of 170 very comfortable Skodas but his main business is transporting 5000 special needs children to school every day and this involves another 1000 vehicles and 1500 drivers. Andy gets quite passionate as he explains that getting close to these children inspired him to set up the Centre Algarve charity which is Europe’s only dedicated special needs holiday centre. Photos are produced alongside tales of some of the many visitors to the Algarve and how not only the staff but those most in need of help are motivated by others whilst staying at the Centre. Little Easton and the Countess of Warwick Show are truly fortunate to have such generous new neighbours – we all welcome them. T hings to do Arena Events Our ever popular audience participation events will take place once again. Children are warmly invited to participate in the following races: Tug of War, Egg and Spoon, Sack and Running. Keep listening for the announcements of the races.

For those of you with dogs at the show, the Dog Racing and Canine Musical Sit are open to everyone who would like to compete. Children’s Area By the Rectory, you will find rides and attractions for our younger visitors. Face painting, bouncy castles, rides and attractions are there to be enjoyed. Dog Show The Dog Show will take place in its own arena. It will run on both Show days and is always very popular.

Make sure you enter in good time to ensure you get into the class of your choice. Entries will be taken from 12.00 noon on both days.

We are grateful to Jerry Moloney who has kindly offered to sponsor our ‘Top Dog’ Rosettes. T hings to do Music on the Manor side Music on the manor side: this year there will be half hour sets on the hour at 1, 2, 3 and 4pm each day. Retail Therapy No Show is complete without some Retail Therapy and ours is no exception. We have a wonderful range of shopping stalls. Some retail outlets are dotted around the showground; others are within the Craft Marquee and Barn Theatre. Treat yourself to something different or stock up on early Christmas gifts! T hings to do Rolls-Royce Rides Rides in Rolls-Royce Motor Cars will be available from outside the church at £5 per person. It is a lovely way to take in the Show from the luxury of one of the beautiful cars. All proceeds to go to The Five Parishes. Please see a member of the team from P & A Wood for more information.
