This weekend we celebrate the Sixth Sunday since the Three Kings came and went, “Ordinary Time.” I guess it’s looking kinda “ordinary and lonesome” around here with all our beautiful Christmas reminders gone. In the ordinary and lonesome “sores” and hurts of our hearts, bodies, and souls, Christ sends His healing, invigorating love! That’s what happened in today’s Gospel. That was the message and mystery ST. VALENTINE celebrated so long ago, the same mystery we celebrate now as we gather around the altar of God, who loves us, who embraces us in Christ, and tells us “You can’t hide beautiful!” And you’re beautiful! That’s how I made you!

We remember St. Valentine this weekend & Tuesday, on the anniversary of his birth into eternal life. The deep lonesome place in each heart calls out to the deep lonesome place in other hearts and we are nourished by the love of Christ in each of us. It’s a profound and beautiful part of the mystery of life!

If it is well attended, as it always is, we’ll keep it through March 31st, the eve of Palm Sunday. That Mass has a lot more “elbow room” than the 4 P.M. Mass.

You can pick up your Sunday envelopes at the back of the church. Please write your correct address and phone number on your envelopes so we can check and update our computer list. If you haven’t used envelopes and would like to, that would tickle us plumb to death! You can get a box and register at the parish office, open seven days a week: Monday-Friday, 9:30 A.M.-6 P.M., Saturday, 9:00 A.M.-7 P.M. & Sun 8:30 A.M.-2 P.M. The coffee is always on!

HIDE… (AARON LINES!)

The Most Beautiful Thing Hoping to paint “the most beautiful thing in the world”, an artist asked three people what they thought it might be. “Faith”, replied the priest, “You’ll find it at every altar.” “Love”, said a young bride. “Love builds poverty into riches, it sweetens tears; makes much of little. Without it there is no beauty.” “Peace is the most beautiful thing in the world,” answered a weary soldier. “War is ugly. Wherever you find peace you find beauty.” “Faith, love, peace! How can I paint them?” wondered the artist. Entering the door he saw faith in the eyes of his children and love in the eyes of his wife. And in the home, he saw the peace that love and faith had built so he painted “the most beautiful thing in the world.” And he called it “home”. Aaron Lines sings a pretty, sweet song about our connection with the powerful, sweet, sad, ugly, beautiful story of the poor leper and Christ in today’s Gospel.
