Columbia County FCAT scores revealed that recent curriculum changes at Niblack Elementary School helped boost scores for fourth- and fifth-graders there, School Superintendent Terry Huddleston said. Huddleston said he looked at Niblack Elementary scores first to see how the new meth- ods impacted the school’s scores. The school district imple- mented instructional changes at Niblack during December, he said, and they should have provided a jump start to the test scores. According to the released data, it must have helped. Fifty-six percent of students at Niblack scored a achieve- ment level 3 or higher in read- ing, compared to 34 percent in 2012.
