You wonder how someone so . well, so much like you went missing. You thought only girls who entered beauty pageants ended up on the sides of milk cartons. Well, think again. Unions protect workers with essential rights and benefits. Most importantly, a union gives employees a seat at the table to negotiate fair pay, scheduling and more workplace policies. Ryan May 2021 Examining Committee Members: Jan Fernback, Advisory Chair, Media and Communication Nancy Morris, Media and Communication Fabienne Darling-Wolf, Media and Communication Ron Becker, External Member, Miami University ABSTRACT This study considers the case of representation of transgender people and issues on American fictional television from 2004 to 2014, a period which represents a steady surge in transgender television characters relative to what came before, and prefigures a more recent burgeoning of transgender characters since 2014. The study thus positions the period of analysis as an historical period in the changing representation of transgender characters. A discourse analysis is employed that not only assesses the way that transgender characters have been represented, but contextualizes American fictional television depictions of transgender people within the broader sociopolitical landscape in which those depictions have emerged and which they likely inform. Television representations and the social milieu in which they are situated are considered as parallel, mutually informing discourses, including the ways in which those representations have been engaged discursively through reviews, news coverage and, in some cases, blogs. ii To Desmond, Oonagh and Eamonn For everything. By Laurel Bonham Have you ever gone to a chip bag just for concentrated salt added to food to enhance flavor. one chip and came back with way more than one? MSG produces a savory but salty taste when You’re not the only one. 53.12% of Americans eat added to food ,which excites your taste buds and 1-3 cans of Pringles in 30 days! That’s over half of stimulates the release of brain chemicals called the people in the U.S.! Most people know that junk neurotransmitters. The pleasant taste of MSG food is well junk. Even people who eat junk food and the release of neurotransmitters are thought aren’t fooled. They know it’s not healthy but what to be the basis for mild levels of addiction. MSG they don’t know is that it has released something makes food salty and it is cheap to make so that called dopamine in their brain. Dopamine is a they can put more of it and it will make people buy chemical that is released in the brain when you more of it because its addictive. MSG is extremely “reward” yourself. You can “reward” yourself by bad for you. Some side effects of MSG are doing pretty much anything. For example when severe headaches, sweating excessively, muscle you go on your phone that is a “reward” for your weakness, and numbness. brain. Eating junk food is just as bad as tobacco is Why do holidays encourage eating for the brain. -

Latta, Ph.D. Abstract The focus of this ethnographic study is to examine the industry-wide culture of the American ballet. Two additional research questions guided the investigation: what attributes, and their light and dark dimensions, are valued among individuals selected for leadership roles within the culture, and how does the ballet industry nurture these attributes? An understanding of the culture was garnered through observations and interviews conducted in three classically-based professional ballet companies in the United States: one located in the Rocky Mountain region, one in the Midwestern region, and one in the Pacific Northwest region. Data analysis brought forth cultural and leadership themes revealing an industry consumed by “the ideal” to the point that members are willing to make sacrifices, both at the individual and organizational levels, for the pursuit of beauty. The ballet culture was found to expect its leaders to manifest the light dimensions of attributes valued by the culture, because these individuals are elevated to the extent that they “become the culture,” but they also allow these individuals to simultaneously exemplify the dark dimensions of these attributes. -

SKYDANCE MEDIA CASTS NATALIA REYES, DIEGO BONETA, AND GABRIEL LUNA TO STAR IN UPCOMING TERMINATOR PROJECT After a global talent search, Skydance Media announced today Natalia Reyes ("Lady, La Vendedora de Rosas"), Diego Boneta (“Scream Queens,” Rock of Ages), and Gabriel Luna (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”) will join MaCkenzie Davis as the new stars of the latest Terminator project directed by Tim Miller (Deadpool) and produced by James Cameron and David Ellison. Specific details on the characters are being kept under wraps As previously announced, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton are set to star in the film which is scheduled for release the Friday before Thanksgiving on November 22, 2019. The movie will be a direct sequel to Cameron's Terminator 2: Judgment Day, with Schwarzenegger and Hamilton anchoring the story while passing the baton to a new generation of characters. The film will be distributed domestically by Paramount Pictures and internationally by 20th Century Fox. Natalia Reyes, is a Colombian actress best known for her starring role in Sony's hit Latin America series "Lady, La Vendedora de Rosas" and as one of the stars of Peter Webber’s Netflix original film Pickpockets. In 2017, she shot Sumergible produced by Ecuadorian director Sebastián Cordero and was part of Sticks and Stones a film by Martin SkovbJerg in Denmark. She Just finished shooting Running with the Devil, an upcoming American thriller starring Nicolas Cage. Reyes is a graduate of the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute (New York City). Mexican-born actor Diego Boneta, made his feature debut in the musical Rock of Ages. -
