    WORKING PAPERS Pennsylvania's Child Labor Laws indicate no youth under the age of 18 shall be employed without a general or vacation employment certificate. STUDENT PRODUCT PRESENTATION During the Lehigh County Schools Joint Purchasing Board monthly meeting, a product demonstration on items housed in the LCTI Distribution Center is presented by a LCTI Marketing and Business Education student. The following students have performed a presentation: November 2007 Meeting Dariluz Figueroa, Allentown School District, LCTI CAP Program spoke on ink and laser cartridges. January 2008 Meeting Maximilian Buendia, Allentown School District, LCTI Academic Center Program spoke on transparencies and pens. March 2008 Meeting Demi Majczan, Emmaus High School, LCTI Academic Center Program spoke on the hardware catalog. LEHIGH VALLEY COOPERATIVE PURCHASING COUNCIL We continue to explore positive benefits of working in cooperative with this group. The members of this organization will be able to purchase off of the Lehigh County Schools Joint Purchasing Board’s coarse paper bid for 2008-09. ART SUPPLY ADVISORY COMMITTEE Ms. Ivy Bauman, Director of Business Services for Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21, has coordinated the effort for the implementation of the first Art Supply Bid for 2008-2009. Sniscak, Superintendent of Parkland School District, Announces Retirement (Allentown) - Parkland School District Superintendent, Mr. Richard T. Sniscak, announced his plans to retire at the end of the 2020-21 school year during the Parkland School Board meeting on Tuesday evening, October 20, 2020. The announcement marks a 37-year career in public education. Mr. Sniscak started his career as a mathematics teacher and coach in the Allentown School District, where he is also a proud alumnus of Dieruff High School. He was hired as the Head Football Coach at Parkland High School by Dr. Gary McCartney, then Parkland’s Superintendent, in 1994. A year later, he joined the staff full-time at Parkland as the Athletic Director in 1995 and he continued to coach football through 2000 before becoming Parkland High School Principal in 2001. In 2009, he was appointed Assistant Superintendent under the leadership of Dr. Louise Donohue, Superintendent. Upon Dr. Donohue’s retirement, Rich was appointed Superintendent in 2011. In his letter to the School Board, Mr. Sniscak wrote, "In many respects, my entire life has revolved around public education. I entered the education profession with the commitment and desire to make a difference in the lives of my students. Educators in my life did as much for me and I wanted to continue this trend and be part of this life-altering behavior. I always considered it an honor of the first order to represent this District as Superintendent of Schools.” Mr.

The district’s Comprehensive Planning Process involved participation from a variety of stakeholders with the focus placed upon student achievement and continuous improvement. These various stakeholders participated in committees that included both individual school committees as well as an overarching district-wide committee. Each of the eleven schools (eight elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school) created building action plans utilizing a building-based planning team which included administrators, teachers, parents and members of the community including business partners. Each building committee reviewed relevant student performance data, demographic information and parent/community needs assessment results to identify the individual school’s strengths and challenges. A district-wide committee with a make-up of administrators, professional staff members, support staff members, parents and community members, including our business partners, reviewed data obtained from district needs assessments results from community, parent, teacher and support staff members. Following the process provided by the Comprehensive Planning Guidelines from the Pennsylvania Department of Education ensured that consistency was followed allowing for the allocation of resources and support for our district programs with a goal of continuous improvements leading to greater student achievement. The comprehensive planning process began in September 2017 as administrators brainstormed names of parents, community members and business partners who would like to be invited to attend and participate in building and district planning committees.

    LEHIGH COUNTY SCHOOLS JOINT PURCHASING BOARD NEWS September 2004 DISTRIBUTION CENTER CONSTRUCTION Construction of the Lehigh County Schools Distribution Center 18,000 sq ft. facility continues to move forward. ORDER ENTRY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (OMS) The Lehigh Career & Technical Institute (LCTI) has completed the implementation of the Order Entry Management System (OMS). All employees have been trained and purchasing is now automated. The first phase schools are in the process of loading and building databases in their OMS software. First phase schools are as follows: Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21 Northwestern Lehigh School District Salisbury Township School District Southern Lehigh School District The second phase of OMS implementation is scheduled to begin in October. Schools slated for the second phase are as follows: Northern Lehigh School District Parkland School District Whitehall-Coplay School District Lehigh County schools superintendents will view a demonstration of the OMS in mid-September. eSchoolMall company officers will present the demonstration.
