European High-Performance Computing projects - HANDBOOK 2021 | 3 Dear Reader, Welcome to the seventh edition of the ETP4HPC Handbook of Europe- an HPC projects! This 2021 issue is bigger than ever, listing 68 on-going projects (and 34 more finalised projects are referenced). The EuroHPC- funded projects launched earlier this year are now covered. But we are not limiting ourselves to EuroHPC, or to the former HPC cPPP projects: this Handbook aims to provide a comprehensive overview of all pro- jects in our arena. And our arena tends to expand, as HPC no longer lives in isolation but interacts with many related domains such as Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and other technologies. The projects featured in this Handbook are funded by 25 different calls. For ease of use, we have grouped them by scope, rather than by call. However, we also provide in European Ex- ascale Projects an overview of the different calls, indicating where you will find the correspond- ing projects in our Handbook. And if you are looking for a project by name, the alphabetical index of projects at the end of the Handbook will point you directly to the right page. I trust this Handbook will help you navigate the complex European HPC landscape. Our dearest wish is that this document will give you ideas and contacts for many future innovative projects that will nourish and strengthen our European HPC ecosystem and technological sovereignty!     Cagliari raddoppia con l’ATP 250 Sardegna Open Dopo il grande evento al Forte Village dello scorso ottobre, l’ATP ha assegnato a Cagliari il compito di ospitare quello che sarà il torneo d’apertura della grande stagione europea su terra rossa. Il Sardegna Open (categoria ATP 250), in programma al Tennis Club Cagliari dal 4 all’11 aprile, arricchisce così il già ricchissimo panorama degli eventi di calibro mondiale organizzati nel 2021 dalla Federazione Italiana Tennis. Va infatti ad aggiungersi agli Internazionali BNL d’Italia di maggio a Roma, alle Next Gen ATP Finals di Milano e alla prima edizione italiana delle Nitto ATP Finals di Torino, entrambi in programma a novembre. Senza dimenticare il WTA 250 di Palermo, organizzato dal Contry Time Club, che si giocherà il prossimo luglio. L’evento cagliaritano è stato presentato oggi presso la Sala Anfiteatro della Regione Sardegna: sono intervenuti il Presidente della FIT Angelo Binaghi, il Sindaco di Cagliari Paolo Truzzu, l’Assessore al Turismo, Artigianato e Commercio della Regione Giovanni Chessa, il capitano azzurro di Coppa Davis Filippo Volandri. Yet over the following years the borders of his small world would be rolled right back as he became Director of Transformation at SSE Airtricity and rose through the ranks of his beloved sport, kickboxing, to eventually spearhead its drive towards inclusion in the Summer Olympics programme. Indeed today Roy Baker is President of both Kickboxing Ireland and the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO) which Roy Baker looks back on a journey from his early days in Ballyfermot to becoming President of Kickboxing Ireland and caters for some five and half million members World governing body WAKO Photo by Paddy Barrett across the globe. The founder of the world’s biggest annual kickboxing tournament, the Irish Open, he and his team have played a huge part in seeing the sport garner official recognition from both the International Olympic Committee and more recently the Olympic Federation of Ireland as kickboxing continues its pursuit of inclusion among the 30 plus sports that make up the Summer Games. It aims to provide up-to date information on asylum practice in 23 countries. This includes 19 EU Member States (AT, BE, BG, CY, DE, ES, FR, GR, HR, HU, IE, IT, MT, NL, PL, PT, RO, SE, SI) and 4 non-EU countries (Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey, UK) which is accessible to researchers, advocates, legal practitioners and the general public through the dedicated website www.asylumineurope.org. The database also seeks to promote the implementation and transposition of EU asylum legislation reflecting the highest possible standards of protection in line with international refugee and human rights law and based on best practice.
