Why No Wonder Woman?
Why No Wonder Woman? A REPORT ON THE HISTORY OF WONDER WOMAN AND A CALL TO ACTION!! Created for Wonder Woman Fans Everywhere Introduction by Jacki Zehner with Report Written by Laura Moore April 15th, 2013 Wonder Woman - p. 2 April 15th, 2013 AN INTRODUCTION AND FRAMING “The destiny of the world is determined less by battles that are lost and won than by the stories it loves and believes in” – Harold Goddard. I believe in the story of Wonder Woman. I always have. Not the literal baby being made from clay story, but the metaphorical one. I believe in a story where a woman is the hero and not the victim. I believe in a story where a woman is strong and not weak. Where a woman can fall in love with a man, but she doesnʼt need a man. Where a woman can stand on her own two feet. And above all else, I believe in a story where a woman has superpowers that she uses to help others, and yes, I believe that a woman can help save the world. “Wonder Woman was created as a distinctly feminist role model whose mission was to bring the Amazon ideals of love, peace, and sexual equality to ʻa world torn by the hatred of men.ʼ”1 While the story of Wonder Woman began back in 1941, I did not discover her until much later, and my introduction didnʼt come at the hands of comic books. Instead, when I was a little girl I used to watch the television show starring Lynda Carter, and the animated television series, Super Friends. -

Baker iv ABSTRACT COSTUME CULTURE: VISUAL RHETORIC, ICONOGRAPHY, AND TOKENISM IN COMIC BOOKS Michael G. Baker, PhD Texas A&M University-Commerce, 2017 Advisor: Christopher Gonzalez, PhD Superhero comic books provide a unique perspective on marginalized characters not only as objects of literary study, but also as opportunities for rhetorical analysis. There are representations of race, gender, sexuality, and identity in the costuming of superheroes that impact how the audience perceives the characters. Because of the association between iconography and identity, the superhero costume becomes linked with the superhero persona (for example the Superman “S” logo is a stand-in for the character). However, when iconography is affected by issues of tokenism, the rhetorical message associated with the symbol becomes more difficult to decode. Since comic books are sales-oriented and have a plethora of tie-in merchandise, the iconography in these symbols has commodified implications for those who choose to interact with them. When consumers costume themselves with the visual rhetoric associated with comic superheroes, the wearers engage in a rhetorical discussion where they perpetuate whatever message the audience places on that image. -

Chapter Thirteen: "BANG, RIGHT TO THE MOON" Recently, a group of fierce warriors forced the evil sorcerer Kulan Gath to retreat--but Kulan Gath implied that their victory was a tainted one and that eventually, the warriors would serve him. Conan the Cimmerian managed to escape with Kulan Gath’s amulet of power--the Third Eye of Agamotto. But the amulet drew the attention of Victor Von Doom and Doctor Strange, the latter of whom warned Conan of its dangerous power. Together, the trio tracked Kulan Gath to Egypt. In a battle that nearly cost Strange his life, he discovered that Gath’s amulet was a fake, but it bore a curse that Conan was able to turn against Kulan Gath. Along with Elektra, Strange began gathering a team needed to defeat Kulan Gath——permanently. First they arranged a trade of souls between Daniel Drumm and his sibling Doctor Voodoo to bring the latter back to life. Then, after tracking down Conan in Mexico, they also assembled Wolverine, Black Widow, Daimon Hellstrom and Magik, and prepared for war… Writer Gerry Duggan Artist Patch Zircher Color Artist Java Tartaglia Letterer VC’s Travis Lanham Cover Valerio Giangiordano & Frank D’Armata Variant Cover BossLogic Graphic Designer Carlos Lao Assistant Editor Martin Biro Associate Editor Alanna Smith Editor Tom Brevoort Editor in Chief C.B. In the end, my love for Rocket, Groot, Gamora, Star-Lord, Yondu, Mantis, Drax, Nebula—and some of the other forthcoming heroes—goes deeper than you guys can possibly imagine, and I feel like they have more adventures to go on and things to learn about themselves and the wonderful and sometimes terrifying universe we have to inhabit. First, it was Groot, then Yondu. Release Dates. Aug 12, Dan rated it it was amazing Shelves: comics-and- graphic-novels , gotg. I suppose the symbiote is from space Peter and J'son is odd, because I didn't think he was so stupid. Not that there's much teamwork happening, because the group gets ambushed and separated almost immediately. For the most part, this works rather well. Metacritic Reviews. Experts Say Conway May Have Broken Ethics Rule by Touting Ivanka Trump'
From: Tyler Countie To: Contact OGE Subject: Violation of Government Ethics Question Date: Wednesday, February 08, 2017 11:26:19 AM Hello, I was wondering if the following tweet would constitute a violation of US Government ethics: https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/829356871848951809 How can the President of the United States put pressure on a company for no longer selling his daughter's things? In text it says: Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom. She is a great person -- always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible! 10:51am · 8 Feb 2017 · Twitter for iPhone Have a good day, Tyler From: Russell R. To: Contact OGE Subject: Trump"s message to Nordstrom Date: Wednesday, February 08, 2017 1:03:26 PM What exactly does your office do if it's not investigating ethics issues? Did you even see Trump's Tweet about Nordstrom (in regards to his DAUGHTER'S clothing line)? Not to be rude, but the president seems to have more conflicts of interest than someone who has a lot of conflicts of interests. Yeah, our GREAT leader worrying about his daughters CLOTHING LINE being dropped, while people are dying from other issues not being addressed all over the country. Maybe she should go into politics so she can complain for herself since government officials can do that. How about at least doing your jobs, instead of not?!?!? Ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess it's just easier to do nothing, huh? Sincerely, Russell R.
