Subject: off camp IDP assistance, health coverage (districts of Nowshera, and )

WHO with a help of partner organizations map out the IDPs burden union councils in three districts of KP. Based on the inputs received from partners WHO made a short analysis about number of health facilities available in the three IDPs burden districts, partners present and providing services to these off camp IDPs in district Kohat, Nowshera and Peshawar.

There are a total of 212 health facilities in 3 IDP hosting districts, including 2 DHQs, 106 BHUs, 62 CDs, 3 CH, 10 Tertiary Care Hospitals, 09 MCHs, 15 RHCs, 04 SHC and 01 TB center.

In district Peshawar there are a total of 112 health facilities in which 53 are BHUs, 43 are CDs, 01 is CH, 05 are Hospitals, 05 are MCHs and 05 are RHCs.

In district Kohat there are 43 health facilities in which 21 are BHUs, 03 are SHCs, 04 are RHCs, 09 are CDs, 01 is DHQ, 3 are Hospitals and 02 are MCH centers.

In district Nowshera there are 57 health facilities in which 32 are BHUs, 10 are CDs, 06 are RHCs, 02 are CH, 02 are MCH, 02 are Hospitals and 01 each DHQ, TB and SHC.

There is approximately 8,500 health staff available at the state health facilities.

106 PHC facilities are managed and supported by PPHI, including 21 in Kohat, 32 In Nowshera and 53 in Peshawar.

103 health facilities in 3 districts are supported and planned to be supported in provision of different health services (PHC, MCH, Repairing and Construction and Nutrition) by 12 health organizations including 10 in Peshawar, 3 in Kohat and 6 in Nowshera. 15 health facilities are planned to be assisted in 2013.

Health cluster organizations are present and provided assistance in 31 high risks IDPs burden UCs, including 22 in Peshawar and 09 in Nowshera out of total of 67 high risks UCs. WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION ORGANISATION MONDIALE DE LA SANTE

District Kohat:

There are two Tehsil in district. One is Kohat and the other is Tehsil .

In Tehsil Kohat there are 17 UCs covering 16 BHUs, 1 DHQ, 2 MCH, 2 Hospitals, 3 RHCs, 1 SHC and 7 CDs.

MDM-F is providing health care services in UC .

In Lachi Tehsil there are 12 UCs covering 6 BHUs, 1 RHC, 1 Hospital, 2 Sub health centres and 2 Civil Dispensary.

MDM-F is providing health services to local population in Darmalak area of UC Rural Lachi.

WHO is providing assistance in communicable diseases alerts and response, conducting coordination meetings, supply of essential medicines to DoH and partners organizations working in district, collecting and testing water quality monitoring in alert response. WHO also provide support of nutrition stabilization center. WHO also provides support in Polio campaigns.

UNICEF is providing support of Polio and EPI.

District Nowshera:

In district Nowshera there are 13 identified IDPs burden union councils. There is one Tehsil, 51 UCs which covers 57 health facilities. Out of these 57 health facilities 32 are BHUs, 10 CDs, 2 CHs, 2 Hospitals, 1 DHQ, 2 MCHs, 6 RHCs, 1 SHC and 1 TB center.

Six health partners are or intend to provide health care assistance to the IDPs in the district. These organizations are Merlin, CAMP, IRC, IR, WHO and UNICEF.

IRC are providing MCH support in Adam Zai, Akbarpura, Aman Kot, Badrashi, Ghandheri, Dagai, Inzari, Manduri, , Jehangira, Kahi, Balo, Ziarat Kaka Khail, Mohib Banda, Mughalki, Phar Kati Khel, Pir Sabak, Rashakai, SalehKhana, Shaidu, Shekai, Spin Khak, Tarru, Wazir Ghari, Mama Khail, Khweshgi Payan, Khairabad, Ziarat Kaka Khail, Nizam Pur, Nowshera Kalan, Emergency Satellite Hospital, Manki Sharif, Pir Pai, Aza Khel Bala, Banda Mullaham, Ghandheri, Dak Ismail Khail.

Islamic Relief providing services in BHU Jalozai and BHU Misri Banda.

Merlin organization is providing services to the IDPs in Jalozai camp, while in district they are providing services in UC spin Khak, Tarru Jabba, BHU Wazir Ghari, DHQ Hospital and in RHC Dak Ismail Khail.

CAMP organization is providing health care assistance to IDPs in Jalozai camp. They have also provided repairing, re-construction and revitalization of health facilities assistance in UC Balo health facility Khush Muqam, BHU Mohib Banda, RHC Kheshgi, RHC Khair abad, CH Nizam Pur and Category D Hospital . CAMP has planned to provide repairing, re-construction and revitalization of health facilities i.e BHU Sheikhai, BHU Rashakai

WHO is providing assistance in communicable diseases alerts and response, conducting coordination meetings, supply of essential medicines to DoH and partner organizations working in district, collecting and testing water quality monitoring in alert response. WHO also provide support of nutrition stabilization center. WHO also provides support in Polio campaigns.

UNICEF is providing support of Polio and EPI.

Out of identified 13 IDPs burden union council partners are present in 09 UCs.

District Peshawar:

In district Peshawar there are 54 identified IDPs burden union councils. There are 4 Tehsil (Town 1, 2, 3 and 4). Out of 112 health facilities 53 are BHUs, 41 CDs, 2 Private Civil Dispensary, 1 CH, 5 Hospitals, 5 MCHs and 5 RHCs.

Ten health partners are or intend to provide health care assistance to the IDPs in the district. These organizations are Merlin, Johannitter International, CWS, Friends Foundation, CAMP, WHO, UNICEF, MDM-F, Save the Children and DVO. Out of ten organizations two organizations DVO and Friends Foundation has completed their projects. Save the Children, Merlin in Nutrition, Johannitter International, CWS, WHO and UNICEF are active and providing assistances to IDPs. CAMP organization is providing repairing, revitalization reconstruction of health facilities support while MDM-F has planned their activities for coming year 2013. MERLIN is providing support of Nutrition and they have planned to provide support in 2013.

MERLIN is providing nutrition services to the off camp IDPs in union council Surizaibala , Merasurizai Urmer Payan and Urmer Miana.

Johannitter International providing services in UC Kakshal-1, Pajaggi, Chamkani, Landi Arbab and Khazana.

Church World Service providing services in UC Bhana Mari and Hazar Khwani.

Friends Foundation provided services to the off camp IDPs in CD Tehkal Payan, CD Irrigation, CD Tehkal Bala and Palosai. Their project has been ended on 14 November, 2012. They have applied for further extension.

MDM-F planned to provide services in UC Sulaiman Khel in April 2013.

DVO provided services in UC Achani Bala.

Save the Children is operational in UC Sikandar Town, Lala Kalley, Chamkani, Landi Arbab, Pishta Khara, Badbar-Maryamzai, , Mashogagar, Urmer Payan, Urmer Miana, Mera Kachori/Jhagra. Sufaid Dheri, Baghbanan, Adreema, Nothiya Payan, Shaghai, Ahmed Khel, Bahadur Kaley, Bakhshu Pull, Phandu, Sarozai Payan, Wadpaga.

CAMP organization has started revitalization facilities in UC Nahaqi health facilities BHU Shagai Bala and Saeed Abad.

WHO is providing assistance in communicable diseases alerts and response, conducting coordination meetings, supply of essential medicines to DoH and partners organizations working in district, collecting and testing water quality monitoring in alert response. WHO provides technical support to already existing 03 nutrition stabilization centers (Hayatabad Medical Complex, Leady Reading Hospital and Khyber Teaching Hospital).WHO also provides support in Polio campaigns.

UNICEF is providing support of Polio and EPI.

Out of identified 54 IDPs burden union council partners are present in 22 UCs of the district.
